After being so impressed with the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 earlier this year, I had sky high expectations for the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
How good can this stunning retro motorcycle be, and is it worth the extra money when compared to the Meteor?

Spot on with your impressions, Freddie. I've owned my Bronze/Chrome Classic 350 since April and clocked up 1800 miles. RE have pulled a blinder with that engine. It's simply superb, and the look and feel of the bike is out of this world. Incredible value for money. I was a little concerned about the weight at 195kgs but it is in many respect an advantage in terms of the planted feel of the bike on the road, and the sense that the chassis is over-engineered for the modest power output. As for economy, I don't know where you got your figure from - could it be US gallons? I have filled the tank now about six or seven times, varying between 96 and 106 mpg Imperial. I think you would have to pin the throttle all the time to hit 78mpg. I'm getting the low fuel light around 200-220 miles, with 3 litres remaining. Glad you enjoyed it - are you tempted to buy one?

I want to get the Signals 350 in Desert Sand in 2024. The only thing I don’t like is the “limiter” or speed governor Royal Enfield installs on their exports. The problem is after passing a slow truck uphill, the same truck is now driving you off the road going downhill because the limiter kicks in and won’t let you keep up with the same speed as the truck going downhill. Also, I know the bike is NOT a long distance cruiser for super highways here in the U.S., but occasionally it would be useful to use the interstate highways for short distances or short cuts without that limiter. I live in extreme southwest Florida at sea level where there is not a hill anywhere for hundreds of miles, so it is not a problem like the rest of the country. I may get a larger front sprocket ⚙️👀 to increase highway speed if need be. From what I’ve read the change in sprocket size is only advantageous in flatlands. Anyway, hello from hot, humid, monsoon SW Florida 🌴🥥🌴🥭🏝. 🇮🇳🫡

@@generalnguyenngocloan1700 Hey ! The variety of weather we get in India is incredible. This means the same Enfield is being used somewhere in -10 degrees Celcius and somewhere in nearly 50 degree Celcius. So weather proofing is quite nice for us! Also, the revv limiter may seem frustrating given it allows (probably) only upto 7000 rpm. I am not sure if that rpm limiter functions when the bike is in neutral too. We are used to go extreme downhill in neutral!

@@FreddieDobbs RE bullet and RE classic are like a tradition here in India. It never fails in all weather or geographic conditions of India, even while riding through the high altitude motorable roads in the world in Himalayas (even before the debut of the Re Himalayan). In pop culture and movies (atleast 2 musicals are made in the last couples of months about Re Bullet 😂) often Superstars make their heroic entry in REs, its considered macho. But the biggest road presence is when we see the army edition of this ridden by the soldiers 🔥. India as a family oriented country, no other bikes matches the comfort RE gives especially for the pillion. The resale value is insane on this one in India, so they remain as the undisputed king on Indian roads.

This is the best looking retro bike I have seen. Looks great from every angle. I would certainly choose this over the Meteor. With regards to the power output: biking can be just as much fun on a smaller bike, as long as you are not riding with mates on fast bikes. I have a classic Suzuki (T200 Invader from 1969) that is just a little bit more powerful than the RE classic. However, it is so different in character. I really enjoy riding it. So easy to park, and good fun to scream it up the twisty mountain roads. For new bikers or older ones returning to biking, this Royal Enfield could be a perfect long term investment. You don't have to upgrade to a giant BMW GS later. Adventure is an attitude of mind. Enjoy adventures on any bike. There is room for all in our community!

I bought one in 1979 rode it till 1982. The only bike I ever owned. Have many wonderful memories. First thing I did was to get rid of the side-stand which I think insults the majesty of the machine. Made multiple long distance trips on Indian highways exceeding 180 KM, averaging 75 Kmph, getting ~12 to 13.5 KM/Litre. It's been 4 decades now, but I can still hear the roar in my ears when accelerating beyond 60 kmph!

The price apart, could you give me your opinion about wich one I should go for. I love this 350 classic but sometimes I feel a bit like it is not a real bike because of its size whereas the interceptor looks more like a serious bike with more power, even if my goal is just to have pleasant and safe rides. Also, it is only recently that large population is able to afford a RE earlier it was primarily catering to the forces.

All the 125-200-390 Dukes and RC390s are built in India, and in the Philippines at the Bajaj factory, they also have the same ByBre brakes mounted on them.. Looks like they're are delivering components to Royal Enfield too which is understandable, due to the location of R.E. factory in Chennai ..

As a previous (happy) owner of the Meteor 350, completely agree with Freddie. Engine has smooth throttle, characterful sound and sufficient torque for relaxed riding in the back roads. The Meteor and Classic are perfect gateway drugs for beginner riders and the weight will "train" the owner for bigger bikes. Freddy, I love your channel. I have not ridden for 20 years and just got my first bike. It’s the same one you tested with the red/chrome. This is a fantastic bike but particularly suited for a new or returning rider. I did make a slight error. This was an impulse buy. I was heading to the dealer to get a meteor. I had done an extensive amount of research; this was the right bike for me. But when I saw the chrome, I switched bikes. I did not realize that the classic 350 is slightly higher in seat height than the meteor. I am a short rider at 5’5. So I’m somewhat on my tippy toes on the classic 350. I have taken my seat to a custom seat fabricator, and we have shaved off 2 inches off the top of the seat. Royal Enfield also sells a low rider seat that's 1.2 inches lower. I have been following your channel to prepare me for my journey back on the road!

They just couldn’t get hold of these in March this year quick enough. Lovely bikes, they’re better if you never carry a pillion though, with a single seat they look awesome

I thought they look better sans pillion too.

I love what Royal Enfield are doing. I really do think a Classic 650 would sell like hot cakes. Royal Enfield feels like a company making motorbikes affordable without cutting costs on what matters. I love being a Royal Enfield owner.

Lots of new bikes coming out in second half of 2022, a super meteor 650, a bobber 650 and a shotgun 650, along with a new hymalaian 450 oil cooled

Well presented vlog Freddie and as enthusiastic as ever, I like the looks of this bike but for me the engine isn't big enough a twin would in my opinion look even better.

I think this would be a great bike for someone who wants to show their friends how to ride. Cheap, looks very nice (minus that weird gap over the back wheel), and seems to be a decent ride for a short commute or running to the store.

I was interested for the Super Meteor and then I watched this video! Your review made me seriously reconsider and started looking all kind of videos and info about the Classic. Then I watched every video you did about the Classic! So finally last week I got mine, the Signals Desert Sand color and I am absolutely thrilled!!! I literally couldn't be happier with this motorbike! I just love it! My girlfriend loves it too, the looks, the sound, the ride! We watch your videos and reviews and you guys are very very good, awesome work! Keep it up! Greetings from Greece, Freddie and Monica!

Hi Freddy👋🏼 enjoyed your video and i agree with your thoughts and this is coming from someone who is riding this bike for last 5 years. The only downside you mentioned is the highway speed and yeah it feels little slow on a highway but again it all depends on what kind of roads you have around you. Regarding the break brand bybre it's an affordable offering from the band brembo. The only thing i didn't like about the bike is the plastic cover on top pf fuel cap. It was unnecessary cost cutting but again those things can be fixed with aftermarket tank caps. And lastly this bike looks so gorgeous with solo seat😍

Your excellent video has pushed me over the edge! I’ve just got back from the nearest dealer, having put down a deposit on the last 350 in Stealth grey on the boat. I loved the meteor engine, but couldn’t get on with the mild feet- forward position, this feels perfect, and I love the blacked out no-chrome look, the chrome is beautiful too and more original maybe, but the bike will live outdoors under a cover, and I want to ride, not polish it on my days off. I am grateful to the other commenters saying 100mpg plus is achievable. I think Enfield have got it just right to appeal to a whole range of riders, and I expect to see a lot of them on the road.

Great choice! I share your opinion on the color. I would have loved the gun Grey too, but it wasn't available at any dealer around, so I chose full black. There is one more aspect to it: Black looks even more old fashioned, more 40th style while Chrome perfecly represents the fifties and sixties. At least to my opinion.
