Thanks for the info. Could listen to those bagpipes all day long. Feel privileged to have seen them live last August.

I'm lucky enough to have attended four of these tattoo's and each one is so incredibly beautiful and entertaining to watch! The Edinburgh Castle in the background really compliments the feel of this show! If you are ever in Edinburgh the first three weeks of August this is a must-see event. You won't regret it, trust me!

We are going back to Scotland for the first time since 2017 and bringing my mother and father-in-law for our first tattoo. Been dreaming of this for years and secured our tickets the first day they were available (September of last year), as well as all of our accommodations for the two weeks we are in the country. Our first trip to Europe since Covid and we really need it, as it will be the final nail in the coffin of 2020, and all the horrible times everyone endured.

I was there. The Norwegian drill team was AMAZING!

The most exclusive pomp and ceremony in the world shared for everyone. Scotland ❤

Definitely exclusive, cant get in unless on a hospitality package. Highland Games still have a bit of authenticity where one isn't subjected to other acts, to keep everybody and nobody happy.

I’m so glad we were able to go to tattoo again this year!! And thank you for the very very good seat!! Tattoo is never disappointed and so worth going ☺️

My maternal grandfather was English; my maternal grandmother was Irish. But there must be some Scottish in there somewhere, because I could listen to those bagpipes all day, every day and never tire of hearing them. My wife and I had the privilege of attending the tattoo live on August 25, 2023 and I must say that it was the highlight of our 2-week tour of England, Scotland and Wales. We may go back someday just for the tattoo - well, maybe too the beautiful Scottish accents and the "Highland Nectar" liqueur I discovered in a shop in the castle. :) And I'll add that, while we were impressed with ALL the groups, I was particularly impressed with the Norwegians. Remarkable synchrony.

I was lucky to attend the military tatoes in 1981 and 1984.

At 1:10:03 during the national anthem i love that Queen Elizabeths face was on Edinburgh Castle

Wish we had such wonderfull traditions in my country. I can inmagine that this embodies the pride of every Scot.

We were at the military tattoo on August 8th, I have no words, only one thing: it will stay in your brain forever.

Am blessed enough to be born Scottish into a family that was very rich in Scottish traditions and culture.

This June , 2024, it will be 50 years since I left Edinburgh for a new home in Australia. Edinburgh was my home and I still miss the Tattoo and summer evenings in Waverley Gardens. But it’s not the same Tattoo I first attended with my parents. Now less military and more show. Still the pipes - the pipes.. Thank you.. 👵🇦🇺

You are not the only one...I am supposedly from the Anderson Clan although there is some history to suggest it may be the Boyd clan. Since I wore the Anderson kilt growing up I'll stick to that. Good for you, we are all proud of our heritage.

US Air Force veteran here. i thought the Yanks' Jazz performance was fantastic; truly. And if this were a Jazz concert - i'd love it. *_However_* - as good as they were - it was appallingly *_INAPPROPRIATE_* at a bagpipes / tattoo assembly. It's like seeing a dessert buffet of ice cream, chocolate eclairs, bon-bons, and *_sardines_*

US Marine veteran here and I agree with you 100%. Every one of our Service Branches has a Drill Team which, coupled with its military band, would equal the performance of Norway's presentation. Hell, we didn't even display our Flag on the field during our presentation.

Well they try to change up their performances to a more light-hearted way...the marching part was excellent.

Being an overseas student, this city holds a special place in my heart. I had the privilege to witness this year's Military Tattoo, and it was nothing short of mesmerizing. Thanks for sharing the video; the finale at 1:11:31 made me emotional.

All UK military bands are excellent, but, ye cannie beat the Pipes & Drums...well done boys/girls. Tks for identifying the other units involved. Did not mind the Electric Pipes, however, the y missed the mark on the dress code which put me in mind of a Pantomime...sry to say....same goes for the entourage.

That does not sound right - The National Anthem is not usually played for another country until the end just before the United Kingdom Anthem. Also I don't think there were any Ukrainian soldiers there at the Tattoo.

THE Tattoo is always an occasion but it seems to be missing a bit of the magic of the 'old days'. The tattoo without the gun race, marching up the mast and the synchronised motor bikes just is not the same.

They do their best to change it up but I hear what you are saying. This year I noticed not so much of the massed Pipes & Drums and fewer soldiers...maybe a lot on deployment or maybe due to the Govt amalgamating the regiments due to massive cuts in the Military. We have to presssure Parliament to stop this.

Yes, very boring British (Scottish) copyright laws that are stopping some kindly Asian/Chinese/European gentleman from sharing his holiday snaps/movies. Its not like it was being sold or ticketed for any financial money. The title holders should be ashamed of themselves and making fools of the Scottish tradition. They were good, just not what we are used to...they do a good job and always very flexible to give a good performance. Yes it was different, but still good.

Sorry to say this yrs tattoo was not as good as the past yrs missing a lot of key performances and the worst part is they didn’t perform old lang sign witch has always been a tradition for the tattoo

To bad this is not a real professional tv production with several cameras. Not good viewing, hardly any closeups. The music is fine, but the filming makes it really boring to watch. Sorry, but filming standards these days are really high.
