Lovely rendition! O I'm a harper in Oregon, and played my Irish harp Rowan Luchair at our library for an event on Saturday. A highlight was when a Scottish man asked her name, and proceeded to sing several verses of the Rowan Tree for me!! Now, of course, i wish to learn it, so am playing along!

One of the best renditions of a song that's often sung as a dirge. Where I come from this tree is called a Mountain Ash. Good stuff, thanks.

@@t4m7 same. I really loved Bill's version. I read that Kazuo Ishiguro (the writer of living) knows this song as his wife is Scottish. and what a talent is he. his first screen play gets an oscar nomination. added to his nobel prize and more he is a force! really loved Living. I just felt the emotion building from start to finish. One of my favourite scenes was when the office colleagues were sat on the train remembering things.

@@theworldaccordingto7631Yes. And I was touched by the scene where Mr. Wakeling eases the constable's suffering as they look at the playground and remember.
