The Roof is Going up! My house build Pt7
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The roof is going up! Turn on the CC for subtitles.. Finally some timber for everybody who was waiting for the last 6 months:) The timber is In GL-24 class, posts are 10x24cm and the roof beams are 10x32cm and 12x32cm crossection, positions depending on the calculated loads. Posts were supposed to be 8x24cm but I decided to make grooves for the glass so I added two more centimeters in width. I didn't have time to install the horizontal beams that will separate the bottom and the top glass but will for the next video. Roof beams are 15 m long so they were too long for ordinary transport so I had to join them from two parts just above the central load bearing wall. The joint is traditional wedge but made on my cnc robot so it came out precise and snug. I was thinking about connecting the plates and the wood with steel dowels but in the end decided to go with bolts, The house will have an industrial look to it so the visible bolts will fit in nicely. As for the sheeting I used some used and some new shuttering boards. We planed and sanded one side and stained them in water based stain and a uv-resistant transparent top coat. The pattern of the boards is the same as glulam beams so they go together nicely. On top of that we spread the aluminium vapor barrier to keep it out of the insulation that will go on top of it.
I hope you like this this project! Please ask any question in the comments and as always, subscribe for more!:D

Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs kzread.infoUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.
Are you ready to build the best chicken coop ever? Then you need this book! kzread.infoUgkxzaRUJNcbypw-fRBDbqqz43ULIa-1EGP- It has tons of awesome barns and coops that you can choose from, without making you dizzy with too many options. The book is super easy to follow, with lots of pictures and videos to show you how it's done. But don't expect to learn everything about chickens here, this book is all about the structures. You'll have to look elsewhere for chicken care tips. Trust me, this book is a must-have for any chicken lover!
There is just so much i love about this video! From the mind blogglingly huge amount of forethought and planning that must have gone into this project to the fact that the form boards that created the house became the ceiling! Talk about a plot twist, i love it! Keep up the amazing work, in and ouit of a the workshop, your talent astounds me!

Thank you very much! I love to reuse what can be reused, and when it comes out better than expected, it is just a cherry on top!😁
I must say that the reuse of the shuttering boards have put a smile on my face. You're a smart man. Anyway we are finally having a look at the shape of the house and it looks beautiful!

Now *This* was the episode I was waiting for - applying your large-scale woodworking and robotic fabrication techniques to the roof and wall members of the house. Those interlocking joints are really impressive, and *so* much faster than traditional post and beam construction techniques. Just sorry to not see any compound curves on the roof! 🙂

Thank you Steve! I'm glad you like how it turned out! And as for the curved beams, I'saving those for the second house in a couple of years😉
I've seen a lot of top notch build series on YT, but none have left me as awestruck as yours. The love and attention to detail are nothing short of outstanding. Most of the homes built here in the US over the last 50-60 years are cheap and flimsy for a quick profit by the builders, but even compared to the top-notch homes (and they are quality), this is a cut above 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

From where I am from and as an architect, I have never seen such precision and attention to detail in a house construction before. In my country (Malaysia), it is all about shortcuts and dodgy methods. How I wish the builders over here have more passion and knowledge in their work like you do. Great job and I cant wait to see it finished!

A roof! Now we get a clearer idea of the shape of the house and it looks wonderful. As I listened to this piece again (thanks for the second bit of the cherry), I was thinking, "This flautist sounds French." There was something a bit thin and tight about his playing, but Alex Murray is from Illinois. Then I looked into his history - he studied at the Paris Conservatoire. His playing is very reminiscent Jean-Pierre Rampal - even more thin and even tighter with the mouth. I've always preferred players with a wide and rich tone, such as William Bennett, to the sweeter, brighter tone of the French players.

Oh no, I wear my knowledge rather thinly. I used to play the flute as a teenager and listened closely to the techniques used by professionals. I'm by no means any kind of expert - more a repository for random, useless facts. I really do like the shape your home is taking - modern houses can be such soulless, anonymous blocks. My own house is around 200 years old, so has had time to develop its own character, even though very similar to those around it.

The "keeping the sun out" structure. Who wants to live in it?
@lignumchannel
Жыл бұрын
Its designed to be as much energy efficient as possible. It keeps the sun out as you say during the hottest summer months. The sun doesn't go inside so it keeps it cool. During winter when the sun is closer to horizon, it reaches the whole interior and will heath the dark floor during the day which will radiate captured heath during the night.
Will there be solar on the roof? If the roof is oriented more or less south it would be ideal for that. You could even save the normal roofing material.

When your new videos of house finishing would come. Would like to see the finishing.
Great video as usual and nice to see the progress. A roof makes all the difference. Love the chainsaw attachment for the robot. Did you make it or is it a specialty accessory or an add-on with a clamp for various purposes? Your wife is a woman after my own heart: not afraid of getting her hands dirty! Those beam joints are so simple yet effective and faster, I wish we'd do this here. You plan on insulating the house from the outside I suppose? Can't you find foam-filled (insulated) bricks in your area or is it a building choice? I'm in construction in the US and always interested in building practices in other countries.
@lignumchannel
2 жыл бұрын
:DThank you Fred! Yeah she has no choice;) The house will be insulated from the outside with 15 cm of EPS and ventilated larch siding. I was thinking about blocks with stone wool inside but it is much more expensive system, faster though and total wall thickness is smaller than in my case.. The attachment for the robots is made here in the workshop, both for the spindles and for the chainsaw.
