Congrats. These last few months have been alright for you, haven't they? :) One factor worth considering is that ADs and Rolex itself have learned their lesson from previous financial crises and recessions. We are entering a recession period so they do not want to do so with too many timepieces in stock. My best friend got his GMT with a 20% discount during the last financial crisis because they wouldn't sell any. Things are not that bad atm but better be safe than sorry when it comes to risk.

@@ClickyBezel Financial crisis of Greece. We became famous for it aside the Parthenon and our islandic sunset views.. Everything was on sale back then. The watch market is back now though! Maybe you should consider visiting Greece with your wife! Imagine the Tiffany blue OP with turquoise waters in the background ;)

WOAH! Congratulations man!! Living the dream dude. Two heavy hitters in a month! Unlike the US, where I'm from (Singapore) you need a massive purchase history to even get a stainless steel no matter how much of a watch enthusiast/non-flipper you are.

These stories are an inspiration beyond the Rolex quest. The inspiration to get out and visit the local AD who has (or might have) the watch you want to see. After two years of all online buying and wondering if the watch that would arrive would live up to the macro and ‘lifestyle’ shots on the computer screen, this series was a welcome push to get out there and see the watch in person, have a conversation with a person; and that made the purchase experience that much more enjoyable.

Congrats, it’s great to know there are watch enthusiasts out there that are getting the pieces they want. The ADs have a interest to serve customers interested in the brand and build a long term relationship.

Negotiation and relationship goes a long way

I'm trying to find the perfect summer watch. It's a bit difficult since I want it to be 10 bar, quick adjustable, maybe titanium, colorful and on a nice waterproof strap but not made out of steel. It's hard to find watches at a lower price point which check all these boxes for me. The Breitling Superocean for exampl looks really nice but I would like to see how the watch works from the outside even if it's just an ETA movement. Btw you video quality is insane, I had to look twice at your subscription count. Keep it up!

With the vast watch universe, there still isn't a perfect watch that can do everything without looking like a big pile of mess haha. Like with a lot of things, there are always compromises, even with watches well into the six figures. Hope you find that watch for summer! Thanks a lot for watching. I just got my first Rolex about two weeks ago, with no history. 124270 explorer, had to wait 2 years but never the less. I bought a professional model, stainless steel Rolex at 21yrs old.

Super cool pieces. Sounds like you've really come across to this AD as an enthusiast. What do you think will be the norm for buying Rolexes in the next few years? More like your experience, or more like the seemingly common opaque waitlists? I've tried to keep Rolex out of my grail list because they seem so unattainable even if I had the cash. Next on my list is a Spring Drive Grand Seiko.

Thank you! It's hard to say really. I would like it for Rolex to be able to easily sell these pieces. I even heard some rumors saying they are planning to ramp up production but not sure how this will attribute to availability in stores. Unfortunately, for as long as the hype Rolex is getting on their watches, we will continue to see these waitlists. Hopefully, they are cut down in half or more in the near future however! You really can't go wrong with GS. I've been meaning to pull the trigger on one for a while! Thanks again for watching!

Hey, You are one lucky man. I'm currently looking at purchasing the Lander IV GMT and the Cobb Seagrave Monopusher from Farer. I had a great experience going to their offices just north of Brackley in the UK and having a chat with the owner Paul Sweetenham. Great bloke who also has a sweet car collection next door. Definitely worth a visit if you're here in the UK

Thanks a lot! Farer makes some great pieces with amazing colors! I actually had an opportunity to speak with him at one of the watch fairs here in San Francisco. Great guy but didn't know about the car collection! That in itself is definitely worth the visit!

Sometimes we can just get lucky haha I remembered randomly asking my local AD when I passed by couple years ago and managed to get the Batman gmt during that visit

The Tiffany OP is the watch that people will stomp on their grandmother's face to get (I got that quote from Watchfinder). I'm so envious!!!

I’m not a Rolex collector, but my local AD did get me a Submariner Date last year. Similarly, I requested a 36mm “Tiffany” for my wife. As of a couple months ago, they hadn’t seen one come through the boutique yet, but fingers crossed. The next piece I’ve committed to is the Ornament 2 from independent Netherlands watchmaker Michiel Holthinrichs. I’ve been building a relationship with him for two years and his prototypes are incredible.

This just shows that the dealers are also selling the watches to people who have a passion for watches and not just famous people. I myself have a Tissot PRX and now saving up to buy the Longines Hydroconquest at the most famous dealer of my country (the Netherlands). What do you guys think of my choise?

I hope i had this kinda luck for a Datejust, which i am waiting for 1.7 Years now.

I’m in a battle, buy a nice watch ($1,500) every year or wait 5-7 years and get my grail. It’s hard to wait, but I’m sure it’ll make it all that much sweeter.

I received a watch from the AD this year as well. I was wondering what the correct etiquette would be to ask for a second one? I guess it doesnt really matter?

No mark up. Just retail cost. No pairing as well.

I’m going to (try to) buy my first Rolex soon, aiming for a fluted basel OP DateJust steel/gold. Finger crossed! Edit: genuine want to stat a watch collection, in love with rolex and worked hard to reach a great point in my life, so if you were wondering, no flipping.

One is luck, two is unfair :-D I'm jealous. What's next, daytona? :)

I’ll probably get hate for this, but man no matter how much I loved the OP (size on the one you were offered is PERFECT), I feel like it would be a no-brainer to just sell it. Prices on the OPs are definitely not here to stay when comparing to other sports models. Not to say they’ll ever be retail value on second hand, but the amount of mark-up second hand that they fetch right now would be a huge disappointment to miss out on. I know it would ruin future AD prospects, but to me: who cares? I’d really like to hear your POV!! It’s a lot of money, you know?

You're absolutely right! I'm not going to lie, we did think about it but my wife loves the piece dearly and because of that, we can't just let it go even if we could get a pretty penny out of it on the secondary. Even so, I still plan to buy many more watches with this AD when given opportunities to do so and really don't want to ruin our current relationship. Thanks for watching!
