Here's your chance to sample pure road racing in the Emerald Isle, starting at the North West 200, moving on to the Cookstown 100 and finally to Carrowdore and starring road racing legends Joey Dunlop, Frank Kennedy, Mervyn Robinson and Ray McCullough.

From the crackle of racing engines at full power disturbing the milk round during ‘unofficial practice’, to the riders-eye view of racing on roads barely wide-enough to take a car, academy award-winning producer David Wallace skilfully documents the hectic Irish season. This highly acclaimed production takes you behind the scenes as the road racers prepare to tackle the blend of twists and jumps, telegraph poles and pillars at breathtaking speed.

Back in the day with no health and safety crap. RIP Joey, Mervyn and Frank. hope you's are keeping it full throttle up there 😊
R. I. P. William. Dunlop dynasty😭😭😭
Who wishes it was like this still nowadays ?? My dad and uncle would happily rev the engine on their sidecars ready for the weekend, and put me out the backings on my italajet 50, amazing times. How people would complain back then absolutely no one!!! These days loads!!!!

Real men. Real attitude. Real passion.
Road documentary was good, but this is another level
If you have watched the DVD or video of this you’ll have noticed that the BBC removed God Save the Queen and an Orange band tune from their broadcast of it a few years ago.

Proper road racing give me this everyday to that boring turn one turn two crap bring the worlds best to this circuit and see how good they are.
Re the query about the removal of the National Anthem and the Orange Tune from the BBC transmission. The BBC slot was only 50 minutes but the film [and the Duke Marketing Video] was 60 minutes. So something had to go.There was no political motive to the edit. David Wallace [Director]

Wish we could turn thr clock back.
Different times for sure. Pretty much everyone had a transit van, no power steering on them boys back then.
Not about money. About the sport. Johnny Cash. Rolling free sums it up
Mervyn Robinson is buried near my grandparents and I always visit his grave, people always said he was a better rider than Joey

When you think about it, out of these humble beginnings evolved 60 TT wins. Joey won 26, Robert 5, Michael 29 and still going. Sadly Joey, Robert,William, Frank Kennedy and Mervyn Robinson died doing what they loved.

When BBC Northern Ireland showed it again a few years ago they removed God save the Queen and an Orange tune from it. Talk about censorship. Disgusting.

It was fun to go to all the races as a boy, but apart from Ray McCullough all these men died doung this. I got sick witnessing death in about the year 2000 and stopped following this madness.

These guys were as happy testing bikes around the roads of Armoy as they were winning at the North West or the TT. They raced for the thrill of it. Just ordinary humble men who loved for their sport.
