I'm watching this because I lost my account to the breach. I had the club geoz hat and headphones, I'm furious. I had so many memories from the game, and owned the account for a little longer than 5 years. today i just got back on animal jam for the first time in about almost a year. i’ve been on animal jam since around 2014-2015. i was super sad to see that animal jam hasn’t changed at all. the same items in the shop were almost all the same as the ones that were in there three years ago. it’s disappointing how lazy the animal jam developers have gotten

animal jam slowly started to fall when it became less social and more clout. It was its biggest when we were all young and trying to find ourselves. Now that we have a lot figured it it is just being rare

I have trauma related to the game from rares... such as losing friends, getting cyber bullied, and getting scammed, so I really can’t help but blame the community for abusing the system.

Fr the first i entered Jamaa i had so many questions.

during quarantine, i feel like lots of long-time players who are probably all 15-18 now started playing again just for the memories- its what i did too. if the game took advantage of this and actually added a bunch of new updates and new features, maybe animaljam could get more popular again. it used to be my whole life, but now the game is kinda miserable. tbh i miss the julian2 and wisteriamoon days so much, wish we could all go back.

that's what I did lmao. Then I got hacked, and the game became a huge source of anxiety and paranoia for me. It was actually really fun to play again back when quarantine first started.

I think classic would boost up in popularity again if they added new adventures with more lore. There’s a grip of people who would love to know more about this world and create theories like how they used to.

It’s sad to see my childhood game slowly die. I had so much fun playing animal jam in 2015! Everyone was kind and I made a few friends along the way. I spent lots of money on it too because I always wanted to be a member. I’m happy I met animal jam.

I remember coming home from school everyday and going straight to animal jam or club penguin... I miss this game and I hate the mobile game, it looks so dumb and honestly ruined everything. I miss playing the kangaroo jump game to get pet kangaroos and I miss collecting rares and betas... goodbye animal jam

Does anyone have those reallyyyy old buddies that'd say "Last on, 30+ days" It's sad reading that and just seeing like 4 people logged in. I quit playing around 2015 and just came back recently. Back then people were so genuine and kind, rares weren't so revolved around like it is now, people are seriously forcing their worth up like "Nah, imma hold on to it till they rise" Or "I asked for two solids, not one" Like boi, that's insanely over my offer was fair. Plus, when the heck were black longs called solids now xD yall taking rares too seriously

Same, I never really played the classic game, but I played Play Wild for several years before it got too revolved around rares. I did try to play the classic game once, and I saw why most people lost interest in it because it felt like you had to have a membership to really enjoy the game… It’s definitely not like how I remember, trading is the only thing to do in the game nowadays.

Yesterday an friend of mine convinced me to play Animal Jam with her, then I logged on an account that I used between 2016 and 2019/2020. Then, I opened the friend list, and I only saw 4 people logged in, as you described. Then I began to look at my close friends animals. Last on, 30+ days days, just like you said. I almost cried because I missed some of those friends. I remember that I had contact of some of them on Discord, but my mom keeps taking me away from it and forcing me to delete my accounts, and I end up losing my friends. I still have contact of very few of them tho

I haven't logged on in 3 years and I'd feel guilty even coming back lmao

You guys could play Animal Jam Play Wild while its still stable. It is not very active, though it has a lot of outfits and some roleplays. There are also hundreds, even thousands, of active Play Wild youtubers. Even though they are small. Play Wild has better animals and more updates each week. Not a spokesperson for it but you should still visit while its still semi-populated with a loyal fanbase.

I remember accidentally finding an animal jam music video when i was 11, thus discovering the game and playing for hours, then quiting beofe they added the masterpiece feature- I got bored, tired of the diamond shop, burnt out on hosting restaurants and plushue shops in the den, and just outgrew it as a whole. I'm 18 now, it's sad to see one of my childhood games start to fall, but I'm glad i enjoyed it as a kid skdbdkdhf

yes! i discovered it at 8, and was obsessed. not being a member didnt bother me, all that mattered was roleplaying with my buddies on there and saving to make my animal look cool. when i was 10 i convinced my grandfather to buy me a year membership, then renewing it until i was 12, when i stopped playing maybe 6 months after buying my last membership. the game had lost it’s flair, it was all competition now. nobody wanted to roleplay, they just wanted to trade and get a spiked collar. i’m almost 14 now, and honestly get sad when remembering how the game used to be. i tried out feral during beta testing but didn’t find it as appealing as when i tried animal jam for the first time. i truly miss it.

Aparri is back he uploaded a week ago And to think, the starting of the fall was all bc Julian messed up and made a mistake and the AJ started drama for no reason such as kicking Julian out of the Jambasadors, and not even letting him go to vidcon, which I'm pretty sure that he's never been there with the AJ community. AJ was his happy place and how he started making friends with the other famous youtubers. Heck even Julian deleted the video he made the mistake in and AJ still acted like they never noticed that he deleted it. His fans still watched him and forgave him. Ever since his quitting/announcement video, ppl started to quit the game. Heck they gave Bepper, Aparri, Wisteria, and Twinkle a second chance. Thanks AJ for starting the drama and making your own game go downhill.

I think ik why Ajhq stopped adding new things to AJ Classic, one time I heard that the head of the developer team quit and is working on another game, so that lead to the developer team loosing motivation to create new content for the game so they just started recycling updates, its sad...

Made my account in 2012. Had so much fun over the years. Kind fell of the radar around 2017. I miss this game. Went back to revisit it, and i dont know if its because im getting older, but its just not the same.

This game was my childhood and I’m sad to see it fall :(

I’m not first but I’m early, the rise and fall is intresting and I hope animal jam gets non toxic and rises again. It’s just so sad looking at it now..

Yeah, I remember this game alot of years ago. That's because most of the players were kids. I remember the days when I played animal jam with my cousin on my mom's old computer (it's damaged now, it's unfixable) The computer has been going on for about 10-13 years? Anyways, that game was my favorite, I eventually stopped playing it years ago because of school and other important matters, I just searched animal, and then animal jam appeared. It sounded familiar so I clicked on it and it was my childhood game 7 years ago.

for me animal jam classic can become famous again but for that it would be necessary to arrange a few points: more novelties on the game, to advertise for the game, to change the mentality of the people (more pirator, con artist and not to make only exchanges ) and that the youtube animal jam return to its former state, it is possible but many of us need to help with this

2013-2018 were my years on here. Sometimes I miss it but seeing as it isn't getting much attention anymore and the same items are just being re-released constantly, I couldn't see myself enjoying it anymore. Don't be sad that it's over, be happy that it happened.

So this is why I loved 2016, I was getting good vibes when thinking of 2016.

i think there was so many factors leading to the demise of AJ that it becomes complicated. i think a huge problem was how incredibly dishonest AJ was to their fanbase. AJ liked to cut corners instead of fixing an issue head on, so imo the weekly newsletter update felt tacky in a way to say “we’re fixing things” when in reality they were just recycling updates. the report system was definitely broken af. AJ knew how shitty the system was, and they never bothered to do much about it. not to mention how much the report system was abused. people would report when people refused to adopt them, when you didn’t trade them an item they wanted, or simply if they didn’t like you. this would leave reports of cyberbullying, scamming and hacking under the rug. there was so many solutions to fix the problem that i’ll just list them here: -make trading available for people who have an account registered for 3 months or more, and give tutorials on fair trading and reach out to the AJ youtube community to promote fair trading -there was a clear absence of moderation in the game. in-game moderators could have been a huge help in dealing with scammers and trolls. the in-game moderators would act as the mules for AJHQ. reports would be first sent to the moderators, and if your report was a troll you should’ve been given a strike. if you had a legitimate report, AJHQ would step in and take control of the situation. as for age limit i think people aged 12+ should’ve been able to apply for a moderator application. -i made a point about giving strikes to players in the one above. players who continuously broke rules roamed the game freely. if there was an actual strike system in place then the game would’ve actually been safe from rule-breakers. if you had say 3-5 strikes, your account would’ve been banned. to prevent the rule-breakers from creating a new account they could also ban the IP address but that’s a whole level of cybersecurity im unfamiliar with lol. let’s not forget the lack of diversity in the game. lands were all bland and the underwater was barren af. the “events” they held also got stale to a certain degree. there should’ve been more emphasis on minigames and events. best dressed was arguably their most popular game. some players only went on AJ to play best dressed. why wasnt this game promoted? the events should’ve had more variety. instead of weekly events, hold contests for like a best decorated den and have players vote or a competition for who could get the most plushies. and we can’t forget the amount of times AJ would shove membership down your throat. it was almost to the point where you could barely play the game as a non member. there wasn’t enough to do as a non-member and the stuff members had access to got boring and stale overtime. if you read all this applause to you. i just put this lil rant here lol.

I entered 2015 when I was 9 years old, the game proposal, friendships and roleplays were very fun, but I will not go back to play, all my old friends have already quited, it was good while it lasted.

I wish the og and bigger AJ KZreadrs who quit would come back. Animal jam could get more popular as people might click on the AJ vids on their recommended, and then they think: ‘Oh maybe I’ll try that game out’ Still, great vid!!! It’s very factual and informative, keep being great ;)

It really hit me how things changed when I went to switch worlds and there only about 3-4 *full* worlds out of them all.. Lmao not to make anyone depressed but I remember when my brother and sister still played, we would click every full world trying to get in since there were so many, either too full or too empty. Nowadays, even the pillow rooms aren't as crowded. It's become like real life, everyone sticks to their own lil group or are only there to get more *rare*

This is probably one of the best games I've ever experienced. The pets, the accessories. The memories. I grew up with this game, and I miss the good old times.

I make fun of myself for being so addicted to these games when I was little, but in reality, I would kill to enjoy another game like I did with Animal Jam. I might have wasted two years of my life in 2016 trading in my room every day but it was pretty cool lmao

i forgot about aj being in national geographic, although that's how i found it. me and my friends used to convince my school librarian to let us play since it is connected to national geographic 😭

One of the biggest problems with animal jam in my opinion wasn't necessarily the moderators making bad updates. It has to do with the community itself way more. The hacking, scamming, and selfishness of some people made the game unenjoyable. People started to forget the game itself, outside of collecting rares. Some people became super shallow over rares. People stopped enjoying the experience and fun of the game itself. Animal Jam is a game. It wasn't supposed to be based on the rares. People could connect with each other and create good friendships on animal jam, but the scamming, and hacking created a huge lack of trust. Eventually, the game just became toxic. The moderators stopped updating so much because there was a decline in the game due to all of this madness. There's no point in putting effort into a game that people are barely playing anymore. (also I'm not saying you said the problem was bad updates, I've just known a lot of people that have said that.)

Also, I don't feel sad that my favorite childhood game is practically gone and not enjoyable anymore. Change is good for you, and this game has probably taught all of us a lot of growth in areas of friendships, selflessness, how to profit from things, and just how to enjoy things while they last, (staying in the present moment.) Don't get me wrong. I loved the game with all my heart, one thing I love was the Halloween era in 2013. I wasn't even a member, and I had literally no rares. I was just making friends, playing games, and listening to the fun Halloween music. I do miss it, but I've learned and grown so much from the game itself. So I am glad that everything happened, happened. If you understand what I am trying to say.

I started aj in 2015, I quit in 2019. I recently logged back into my account just this week to relive the nostalgia. All my friends have quit now, and it makes me sad to know I’ll never be able to get in contact with them. I remember making my account in 2013 and was absolutely obsessed with the game for the next 2 years. It's incredibly sad to see what happened to the game but the nostalgia is still alive and strong.

tbh i think animal jam peaked in 2016, i was so happy to say that i was there . i feel bad for the kids who are stuck with animal jam in its current state, because it used to be great. i remember when updates actually had legitimate hype, like in july 2016 there was an update where they brought spikes back for the very first time since about 2013 i think, i remember people rallying in the diamond shop waiting for the update to release .

I think another reason was a lot of long term older players that would be about between 16 and 20/21 would have lost interest in the game. The boom was younger players who were in their early teens. Who then got older and moved on to other things. I've personally fallen away from it for the most part. I did try to come back in February this year during a quarantine and it did work out but I grew bored extremely quickly. On top of working. In order to really have fun with it. You have to grind. And I don't have time for that as a 19 year old adult with responsibilities. I'd like to get back into it but honestly I'd rather invest my time in feral. Feral has more interest for me. And it has a lot of potential for a game thats still in beta. And it has a separate development team from the animal jam team. So its looking a bit brighter for feral.

Yea, I'm almost 17 now and I will truly miss the memories of playing AJ in its prime time (early-mid 2010s, specifically 2012-2013). The kids today will never know am I right.

i played this game from mid 2014-2017, i stopped playing because i was hacked and lost a few of my rare items. i played for the fun and yesterday decided to go back. i had the membership (it waa pretty much vital if you wanted to actually play the game) i of course wasnt going to buy membership for a game that i just wanted to revisit once but it made me sad on how little it has changed and how i couldnt see my old houses. i grew up on this game, made me sad seeing what it is now

it really peaked in 2014-2016 honestly i started in 2012 when i was 7 years old, im 16 now and i still miss it and come back every few months but it isnt the same anymore in general the updates arent as good and with everyone you grew up with inevitably quitting you dont have much reason to play anymore and it gets harder to make friends with new people as you get older anyway, ajs customer support systems terrible and extremely biased too, then they gave up and moved onto play wild anyway

i grew up on this game, playing from 2014 through to 2019. so many friends, some of which i still have to this day. so many memories made too! it's sad to know that it's dying, but all things come to an end eventually. i'm grateful that i got to be one of the lucky many that grew up in such a wonderful place before it became toxic and overwhelmingly chaotic.

I remembered when I met all those special people there that used to be my best friends. But as time goes by, all I know is that they already quit. Animal Jam made me express myself back to those good old days. Now when I rarely log in to check if my friends are still there, no one used to be online anymore just like before. I miss those moments that turned into memories now.

AJ classic was amazing. It was where I went to de-stress during high school I put in so much time and enjoyment decorating my den and I really enjoyed the adventures and challenges. I went back a few months ago for a trip down memory lane and I was sad to see it was all gone.

I really appreciate you staying around and continuing to make Animal Jam content. I know there isn't much to do in the game anymore, but from what I've seen your efforts to try and keep this game alive really show. I appreciate all that you're doing and thank you for continuing to make content for the people that still enjoy this game. It's easy to see that we're not going back to the games prime years anytime soon so we'll just have to sit back and watch it slowly fade away. It's heartbreaking to say.

Animal Jam was a huge part of my childhood. I was a clan roleplayer- specifically, the leader of a clan, and I even posted (unedited/low quality) KZread videos of it (which have now been made private).

Remembered about my 4-year-old animal jam account and found out it was hacked. Worst day of my life.

I remember playing this game back in 2016, I enjoyed it so much I made friends, videos I even got some rares and I'll never forget the time I got my first spiked collar My favorite thing that I used to do was create fashion shows and give people rares, I loved seeing jammers participate and I loved all the looks they had for a certain theme. I can't think of a single bad response I had gotten from the winner of the fashion show I loved all the mini games and I had so much fun creating my dens I used to roleplay a lot in that game too, especially in "AJHQ school" that was the best- Then the lack of updates, ajpw appearance and creators quitting happened and I slowly lost interest, especially when I got scammed multiple times It took me a whole year before I decided to play ajpw and it was really not worth it Then when AJHQ changed animal jam to animal classic I truly was fed up I didn't like ajpw at all and I still don't I then eventually moved onto games I could actually download and had a blast Therefore I simply just lost interest in the game but at the same time AJHQ wasn't really doing much with animal jam "classic" either It was fun while it lasted through those 3 years 2016-2019

One of the reason for less updates is AJHQ fired almost all of their employees, including the animal designer and the adventure maker whom, as a matter of fact, was my aunt

I used to play this game on the website as a kid, for some reason I decided to visit it again and now you have to install it as an app. Dang I remember spending hours on this game playing the minigames and other stuff. Memories...

anyone else remember when one of the default animals to choose when you made an account (i think it was the giraffe) went on a "trip" for a long time? is it just me? dang i really miss this game its not what it used to be.. :( i miss me and my friend trying to break the ice and sitting in the little shop where they sold the hot cocoa, watching the national geo videos, just bc i had nothing better to do, It was soo fun. :) if only we could go back.... this game created out childhoods :/

Oh my goshhhhhhh I remember as well!

I played this game from around 2011 - 2014 at the latest. This was one of my favourite games as a kid and everyone from my class in primary school also played so we would all meet up on it after school. I loved this game so much, it’s sad to see it’s demise but I’m glad I was there to play it in all of it’s glory!

I literally had to make an alt just to comment, I just wanted to say that this video popped up in my recomended and I remembered about the years I played, cant remember exactly when but can remember that I played somewere in 2017 and this was my favorite game. Thanks for helping me remember.

Bro this is so nostalgic, I remember playing it on the school computers hoping the teacher wouldn't walk by and tell me to get off

I started playing Animal Jam in December of 2017 when my friend recommended it to me because she played it a few months later she stopped playing it but I continued to and I got a membership for about 6 months but then when it went away I didn't play too often anymore then I got into Animal Jam play wild because it was the mobile counterpart and it was a lot easier for me to play after playing it for a while I realized that it didn't need membership as much as the other one did is more membership features came to Animal Jam play wild I took a break for a while but then started playing it again a few months later I don't really play Animal Jam classic anymore just because I completely lost interest I don't have friends in it like I do in Animal Jam play wild and any friends I do get don't ever talk to me so yeah that's my story that you didn't ask for.

As an OG player, the game has so much potential. I wish they’d add new features, new lands, new games, something. The season/holiday updates are the same every year, the items are only removed and added, and it’s boring. I love animal jam, I always will, I grew up with the browser, and I don’t even like play wild as much as the original. I hope they actually make something new soon to make it interesting

I haven’t played this game in, like, 8 years or something, and I left around 2016 or 2017, and it really hurts me to know that my childhood is just being brushed away by animal jam play wild, players, and even adobe flash player. I was thinking of re-visiting the game, just for a nostalgia factor, too see the community, mini games, and if spikes and headdresses were still cool. It’s a shame to see what happened to this nostalgic community and now the game is centered around trading and hacking and just getting “rich” rather than fun.

I used to rp so much in this game 😭 I also remember how people would spend hours on end jumping on that frozen lake trying to break it

Anyone remember Ajschool? Like the account. I remember so vividly roleplaying as my pink arctic fox character and drawing and carving things into my desk. People always stabbed eachother with daggers, got hurt, fought, drew. Those were the absolute times, I miss roleplaying in the forests and making friends so much. Animaljam should’ve never been all about trading, it was about making friends. Man I miss 2015-2017. If anyone knows someone called funtiger92 please let me know, I miss them a lot. I wanna see a bustling community, full of edgy arctic wolves drawing roses and small bunnies doing *cries is hurt* again, those were so fun

I haven’t played since the beta of PW. I simply just got bored of the game. The game itself still holds a very special place in my heart and it was one of the mmos that got me into the internet and it’s culture.

I played Animal Jam ever since elementary days (like 2nd grade), and I'm a senior in High School now. I stopped playing it actively in middle school and eventually my account of like, 11 years got deleted because I wasn't active on it. Made a lot of memories but it kinda sucked losing the account just because it would've been nice to go back through and see the different dens and animals I had

I was obsessed with animal jam when i was maybe 8-11. I had so much fun playing with my sister, going on adventures and collecting rares. I tried downloading it to play it again but my weak laptop is being a baby and not letting me.. i just miss it so much hahaha

So little has changed on animal jam yet so much has changed. The days from my childhood are gone. From the cringy role plays I used to do to, to annoying my siblings. Good memories

animal jam was my childhood. I remember how me and my cousin used to say how we would never quit the game. I haven't played the game in years now and its pretty sad seeing it die like this and how all the youtubers i used to watch have quit. I wish a time machine existed...

played for most of my childhood i am 12 years old now and im upset because this is really what made me happy back then and got me into drawing and roleplaying and having fun and to see it be a abandonded game now is sad ;(

Man I miss the good old days when me and my friend would be on for hours roleplaying, doing contests, fashion shows and stuff, it was so much fun.

Same thing happening to ajpw.. I remember roleplaying about schools and stuff, alot of people were having good times. I even met most of my friends there, but most of them don’t have social medias or some sort. Now, it’s all about pets, sapphires, rares, and only up to 3 people on my friends list are online.

I first played Animal Jam in 2014 and I haven't played the game since I left to Australia in 2017. Last year when I hopped on after three years (had to get a new account) I instantly cried because how much the game has changed 😢. I miss playing with my friends, going to parties and many other things.

i think a huge part of it is that we all grew up, the kids who were playing in 2012-2016 are nearly 17+ now

i really miss how much fun i used to have playing this game. it was so fun - the roleplays, the friends, everything. i started out playing aj classic but unfortunately i cant access it because i dont have the device for it, but i still play play wild, and its still kinda fun, but not like it used to be. now its all about getting rares and items and stuff, and a lot of things like the eggs and some tokens cost actual money to get which is really frustrating. its just not special anymore. i wish i could go back and relive those times.

I joined AJPW right in the middle of its golden years, and I still play it today. Its just sad seeing how much its fallen, it used to make genuinely good dens/animals/music. I hope that maybe another company will take on the games.

I recently had a conversation with a otter underwater in AJ Classic, genually was fun. I have never had a experience like that in AJPW. That says a lot about the differences between AJ and AJPW

I used to play Animal Jam until it became toxic and it's development subsided and it became "Animal Jam Classic"...and then...flash died so it was over.

You forgot about the new areas(biomes?) that have been added to the world map. Balloosh opened and added completely new lore to the game, surrounding Juno and the ancient civilization. The area underneath the temple of Zios was opened, also with new lore. And that museum building replaced the party building in Jamaa Township. New adventures adressed a lot of the new lore as well. So in terms of lore, a lot has happened! (vent) Still, it's a tragedy seeing what has happened to such a beloved game. It was a huge part of my childhood. When I played it, I was happy, I had friends, and I even got into digital art because of it. Now I'm a lonely wreck. As much as I want to move on, I don't have anything to look forward to. Only reminiscing. I don't know what to do because the game is such a part of me and I can't let it go. Although I know it'll only suffer the same fate as Club Penguin... Sorry I'm just very lonely edit: I'm good now 👍
