I remember all of them because I used to be a large member I had many beta items but my account was deleted because my laptop stopped working but it was fun while it lasted I just don’t find enjoyment in the game anymore like the newer game there so many things going on so I just haven’t ever really wanted to play it. Thank you for making this the nostalgic experience of a video but thank you thank you thank you

I remember when Hatapalooza came out and all the top hats got re-released and everyone was sooooo mad, it’s controversy level was on tier with the TFD drama

As someone who has been playing for years way back to 2013, i remember flash light trading. And i remember being scammed by flash light trading many times lmao, also remember scamming people with it too. It was like the ultimate way of getting rares easily back then. You flash someone with your rares for like 3 seconds, and if they press accept they steal your rares. That and 'trust trading', where you trade someone rares and they have to trade it back. Good times man

Honestly my earliest memory of the game was sharing an account with my older sister. Our main outfit was a bunny with black top hat and black long. I remember her bawling her eyes out for a solid 2 days because top hats returned😂

I also remember the old login, When flash was alive, There was no need to download the game. You would just google "animal jam" and put in ur login and start playing. Ever since flash died. Everything started its downfall. I wish flash was back :(

Aww man this nostalgia hits hard. People barely change their name tags these days it seems. I still vividly remember fantasizing about being sent rares by AJHQ, and watching other people recording theirs. Great video!! Some of these features I didn't even realize I missed. Afton485 I only just barely started playing AJ again since quitting and giving everything away before, so I'd use the purple long toward building it all up again 😂 Thank you for the opportunity, and good luck to everyone!

oh my god the GAZELLE HORNS MAN. i remember that and the outrage. looking back its funny how mad we all were, but wow. When that happened my world felt like it was crashing down LOLLL

I remember nearly all of this stuff, I've been playing since 2011! Does anyone else remember the old timer system? And the old design for Crystal Sands? It's really interesting to see what has changed over the years.

Man sometimes I wished I experienced older Animal Jam since it looked so cool! I started back in 2016 so I didn’t experience much of it :(( though I still remember Club Geoz and it being removed a year later or so. But this list made me wish I played Animal Jam when I first came out!!

this was so nostalgic for me!! i played animal jam from 2014 to around 2016, and i remember playing the forgotten desert for hours on end trying to get rare items 😭 ALSO the blue heron tutorial, I had that one and I really miss it :”) ty for this trip down memory lane, glad this got recommended to me!

im so glad im not the only person whos always been bothered by the changes of the nametags and ui. it still bothers me that they never fixed animals not having their items on in the preview. it's been 7 years (change came i believe in february 2016 if im remembering correctly) like 😭 also the old nametags looked better too

this makes me so emotional :,) i remember seeing new jammers spawn at the statue in jamaa township and id try helping them, i completely forgot about that until now 😭

I remembered almost every single one of these (the first aid center being the only one I hadn’t personally been in). I remember the day that gazelles came back- my friends and I had a field day with that one! We hadn’t been all that rare so it was hilarious to us that AJHQ decided to pull that stunt. I honestly miss spikes being in adventures though, I know it was horrible for the long term economy but it gave a way to build towards larger items. Wrists aren’t enough of an incentive to buy membership.

i used to get membership specifically from going to the store and getting the 3-month cards, so i had pretty much every exclusive animal except for the kangaroos

Eyeball hats got their rare tag earlier than some of the more iconic items of today, I’m like 95% sure they had the rare tag back in 2013 bc I valued them so much for that LOL also I remember when the bat wings didn’t have the rare tag because people would scam with those through flash trading all the time 😭 I would know bc I fell victim to it I remember when cream beards, planet walls, and spaceship grey were all the rage

I miss the old AJ KZreadrs and old community. It was so much easier to make friends and have fun Edit bc i forgot to add this: i had the peach and teal gaz back when they were unreleased variants. Traded a red long and blue long for them. They got added into shops about a week later and i cried for HOURS

I am nowhere near being an old animal jam player, but I remember doing the easter egg hunt; it was so fun! I don't get why they removed it. I've also heard of many of these facts. It's fun to do research on animal jam. Animal Jam has a cool history. I wish I got to experience it firsthand.

OH MY GOD… i remember the forgotten desert concept art room!!!! i went there with my buddy and i made a really bad ajmv there. i got a hate comment and i cried 😊

I bet you don't remember the trend of Scary Bat Wings being wanted, as well as the "rare" glove. (The wings didn't even have the rare tag at all, but I also feel like the gloves didn't have that tag either.)

jamaalidays was one of my favorite holidays in animal jam and i totally forgot about the gift calendar!!! i get so much nostalgia from this video lol. i wish i could go back to being a kid again :(

Love the video! I remember when a lot of these things got changed and seeing this was very nostalgic, if you ever want to go to club goez, there is a party called the play wild party that is very similar looking to the original room, it’s not exactly the same, but at least it’s something (you can also host a party with a version of the room)

omg, I remember when I was younger I would make new accounts just so I could see the new tutorials!!

one you didn't touch on was when they removed the items our animal where wearing in the little pictures of our current animal, I honestly thought it was a bug but it never got changed back since which is so bizarre to me to this day

I played this game in almost the exact timeframe you mentioned, and decided to check out the game again this year and WOW it is so different now. I was wondering what was missing from the Plaza and couldn’t put my finger on it until I watched this video; I must’ve just stopped playing when it happened, but I can’t believeee they got rid of Club Geo that place used to be packed!! Also those Beta maps used to be so fun. I wish they kept them the way they originally designed them, but I guess that’s how the new Phantom missions and packs came to be. I don’t think I joined early enough to see the Beta medical room though. Not sure what the + means and why people can’t use it legally (definitely gonna look into that cause it sounds interesting) but I also don’t believe that’s why they got rid of it, cause they use it again at 11:06 at the new location haha

Wow i learned so much from this video! I started playing aj pretty young so some of this stuff I just vaguely remember. I'm so glad there is still a thriving community. And yes some more scavenger hunts would be SO fun :)

#6 gets me a lot when I'm trading still 😭 I've played since 2013 and i cant adjust to the new rares. mech angel helmets and top hats will always be rare in my heart

Not on this list but who remembers when Masterpieces were first added to the game? I remember trying so hard to save my pictures and then send them to AJHQ, but sometimes they got deleted on accident. Or they would never get featured.

As someone who start to play in 2012 and still play to this day I miss those good old days

fr i was starting to think it was just a fever dream 😭

I remember when my sister and I first joined, we could actually send each other gifts on jamagramms! We couldn't actually open them, you had to get membership, but I remember sending my sister toys from the spaceship game because back in the day the more toys you had the cooler you were, and she was collecting them. Also, I remember when you couldnt change the color of items if you were a nm, and it was a challenge for us trying to get all the colors of an item, since you could only get them through trading. My sister got really upset when someone scammed her of her colored bunny hats, since she had worked hard to get them in every color.

As someone who’s been here since 2010 this entire video had me talking along like “yeah”! and oh how I miss all this, and it’s a little sad to have seen the passing of all this but also great to have experienced. Thanks for compiling my aj years into a great video :D

I didn't even know some of these things changed, I've been gone for so long xD. But also, I remember when glitches were so common back then, like going on top of the building in Temple of Zios, I believe? My favorite were the underwater glitches where you could glitch a tiger in an underwater land or glitch a dolohin or shark in a land party. Everyone would see the underwater character in the party but the person who performed the glitch would see everyone's character underwater.

I love animaljam I use to play ajc ALL day I was literally obsessed now I log on every now and then check out shops then log off xd I mostly play ajpw now but I don’t really do anything on there either besides get badges talk to my friends and decorate my den but then I get bored and log off

im still sad about club geos lmao the alpha headquarters is just entirely useless and probably should have been put in baloosh instead (which is also very useless and nobody visits anyways) you could also get stuff like the pirate swords in sky high before adventures iirc something idrk why they changed is making the new default wolf eyes those beady round ones when the splash art still has the prior default eyes? so dumb makes the wolves look dopey as hell LMAO

the scamming with only 4 items per trade as well as no double confirmation was insane. the trust trades were all over the place and there was at least one person in jamaa complaining they got scammed

i started playing around 2014-2015 and i remember most of these things ughhh. this brought back memories i completely forgot about. i’m not sure if i started my first account with liza helping me out instead of peck? but i do remember going on that boat thing when i first made my account. and i remember being spawned at the mira statue in jamaa after making my account, not sure if that’s what still happens tho.

I actually remember most of these, I played back in like 2012-2013. I definitely remember getting the Lion “King of the Jungle” back in the day along with the Arctic Wolf. I also definitely had a bunch of rare items and animals, pets and dens too I think.

For the longest time I thought the map change was a fever dream I had. No one ever talked about it and when I mentioned it… everyone was clueless. Glad to know i’m not crazy and it did exist!

I remember playing the forgotten desert everyday for months for rares,i don't think i remember sleeping if i wanna be honest. (i was a crazy elementary schooler.) I started playing around 2013 or so and stopped in 2018. I was 100% one of thoose people calling ajhq,jesus i think i emailed them like 100 times and i got a bunch of cool stuff. The march adventure was so cool the whole st.patricks day thing, i remember only playing it for spikes :) and i think i got a founders atleast twice.

I started AJ in 2013 so I remember some of this- mainly the Blue Heron tutorial and always picking the police hat for some reason. I also remember seeing the membership cards in stores, and I think I got one once simply because I used to have the ice armor set and I think that was something that came with it? Unfortunately all my nostalgic stuff is gone now so I gotta work to get it all back xd I've never had a rare spike before, so it'd simply be cool to get it.

gahh, those name tags are way too nostalgic. also, the redesigned map was so cutesy.................. boutta fight aj society......... n After watching the gazelle horn part, i went to the wiki to see the comments on the horns, and the amount of people advertising their horns ft while they were IN STORES was funny but also a little infuriating. Those old comments also had some spicy takes, like just abolishing rarity in general by releasing all items to stores. and legit just reverting everything back to beta. also no one could spell gazelle properly (shout out to the gazzel-ers) its cool to see how diff people thought back then. i feel like i *should* remember the eggs and gazelles and stuff, as I played in 2014, but i do not remember them one bit. especially confusing because i had some of those eggs on my old account. I honestly wish I could go back and play now where i can remember things. -tubbling

My oldest memory is sitting in my elementary school’s computer lab while my at the time friends who introduced me to the game told me about all these wild rumors like a golden headdress and having access to in game item spawner, I thought it was the coolest thing LMAO

I remember the 1 diamond a week I saved up MONTHS bc I kept spending it for 1 diamond items but I got the silver spike which cost 4 diamonds :)

I remember when Bow and Arrows were rare and someone was flash trading me and I accidentally hit accept in time and got the item. I didn't even know this was a trend. That's so silly. I was so happy lol.

I think another reason, albeit lesser known(?), for the dislike of the map's style change was that the Basement of Secrets became inaccessible. I'm actually not quite sure how true this was. If you know something I don't, please correct me!

You can still get into the basement of secrets. There's a way to get in. So when you get into that first hallway where the door is at the end of it in the corner, you have to light every single candle in the room. Once you do that, you open up your world map, and below Kimbara Outback, there should be an empty spot with green forest. You wanna click that area of the darker or lighter green forest and may take a few clicks or more for it to work. It still works for me since I've done this multiple times, but lmk in a comment if you were able to access it. 😃

It's safe to say that I have been here for a long while, and still is active after I've switched to many accounts before, but the goal has remained the same: to have fun. I remember when I used to be able to trade a fox hat for a rare headdress (well, they just call it RIM headdress now that they all have rare tags)

I remember when I went on vacation for a weekend. I got back on and opened my jam a grams to see that my buddy had gifted me all colors of gazelle horns and i was speechless up until the last one when she said they were back in store😅

I mostly miss the ocean animals, pets, maps and dens; and the adventure base. Like thouse were awesome.

I remember the first time I heard about headdresses, I wanted somebodies spike and they said they would trade thier spike for a headdress. I didn’t know what it was so I traded them a bunch of head items and then we were both just confused.

i also remember going to sandy shores, i remember one of my buddies jagged me to follow them n so i did and it led me there! i remember a lot of people were getting banned afterwards for going, i was one of the lucky ones that didn't LOL phew

Okay, I know that when you hovered your cursor over and clicked on doors there used to be an animation of the door swinging open with a creaky door sound effect. I have noticed that nowadays doors will just open with no animation or sound effect. I'm very curious when this stopped happening and why.
