I think he still needs Celebrimbor to craft the other Rings for the humans and dwarves. However the writers should have had them crafted along with the Three in the previous season finale. Having Sauron sneak back to the elves, and to have the audience know what he looks like this time, is going to be an even worse retread of the last time they did it.

Giving Sauron the form of essentially a Haradrim could work if the story is moved to the south in near and far Harad. There could be a story there about him deceiving the Southrons and drawing them to his service, and honestly that's probably where they should have been from the start, so they could have their racially diverse cast without having to make changes to Tolkien's races. But honestly, I don't think they have either the Tolkien knowledge or the writing chops to have this dumpster-fire make any sense.

I am actually more flabbergasted that they're actually making a season 2 than anything else. Seriously, did Bezos not see how much money lost with season 1, or was the head they gave him just that good?

My guess is that this version of sauron will be the one to convince the numenoreans to be evil. They already glossed over the forging of the rings like it was no big deal, so they can avoid the annatar copyright. Fake galadriel will probably know from the start and be ignored by everyone, because we can't have a strong woman without "no one takes me srsly cause I'm a woman" dialogue.

Was thinking its going to be this. Still kinda makes no sense though as Sauron pretended to lose to the numenoreans and was taken prisoner to Numenor. So eithr the elves did not tell anyone Halbrand was Sauron or that part of the story is going to be changed. Either way what a fucking dumpster fire 😂

How can he possibly trick the elves now after being revealed? Are the elves just stupid now? It was stupid enough that she spent the whole season with Sauron right by her without catching on.

why would the elves even create more rings. The elven rings of power were the ultimate creation. Which helped them lessen the weariness of time. The lesser rings were just practise pieces. Also they weren't created with the magic taught by sauron. So his one ring doesn't even hold any dominion over the users. the series is just so dumb

@@juusovuolle8251 The One holds power over all of the rings, regardless of whether Sauron helped in the forging or not, hence the poem. That's why, when Sauron recited the words upon forging the One, the Elves became aware of the danger and refused to use their Rings while Sauron's power was still ascendant; and why, after the One was destroyed, the Three lost their power along with the others.

When the 1st season ended, they got a lot of criticism that they didn't use the Annatar storyline to create the rings. Ant then they thought "ok, lets do it". But they didn't consider that Annatars story has already been told with Halbrand. Presumably, they noticed this fact at some time during writing process and came to the solution to use Annatar not to trick the Elves twice but to trick the Dwarfs to provide some Mithril for their rings. It is the only way to make at least some sense. Will it be a good story? Surely not, this whole RoP project is already doomed since season 1 and cannot be fixed anymore.

You have a point, I guess. I suppose they could use Annatar in a storyline with the Dwarves. Except that at this point, the Dwarven rings should've already be created. But I guess they're just going to change the order of how the rings were forged. And since they can't use the name Annatar, I wonder what name they'll come up with. This would also bring into question why the elves wouldn't share this info with the dwarves. Elrond at least should've told Durin, no? Since Sauron is a threat to all of them. Is the show going to say that the elves didn't share this info with anyone? That the great Enemy is back? This whole thing is just a dumpster fire.

@@lucymiau5700 Yep. I totally agree. If they had the rights it might be different. There is blurring the truth (Galadriel being a strong warrior or Harfoots and not Hobbits). There are however, story changes that are to massive to get away with that. My sister (who doesn't know anything about Tolkien and therefore isn't hampered by knowing about story changes) had the most damning review of the RoP. I asked her about what she thought of it. Her answer was "I had totally forgotten about it. I probably won't watch it again. Some of it was ok. I went in without expectation so when I got a bit of "magic" I was excited." Ask her about the films and you will get the excitement of when she last saw it and how she has to have a LoTR marathon on Christmas day (all extended editions). She knows what time the marathon needs to start t get it all in and what nibbles will be available for each film... And again, she couldn't care less about the original text. If you ask something as simple as "who is Tom Bombadill"? She will NOT have a clue

I just saw a livestream with an OF model saying that the nuclear family staying together to raise kids didn't have anything to do with stability and commitment. I don't think degraded woke Lefty people compute the meaning of words anymore when they hear and speak, they're programmed by social media to thumbs up or thumbs down, follow that program, and that's literally as much thinking as they are capable of. So the OF model is just "nuclear family thumbs down" when 'for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live' actual expanded spelled out definitions of stability and commitment are literally in the vows, it flat out doesn't compute because program=thumbs down. Pretty shocking how weak a human mind really is in a large portion of the population. And yet his brilliant plot to decieve the Elves is to do the same thing AGAIN! Truly, Amazon cannot create, only corrupt what Good has made!

Gotta give you a boat load of credit my friend...I'm a GenX'er that reads the Hobbit, and Fellowship of the Ring books every 2 or 3 years. It's a true comfort to hear someone that is most likely considerably younger than myself, spout Tolkien lore so passionately and truly....puts a smile on my aging face.😊

I think Galadriel will figure out it's Sauron, but to both keep the stupid plot AND make her a girl boss that is both perfect AND imperfect, no one will believe her until after its too late. Either way, this season is gonna bomb harder than the first.

"The Rings of Powe--" And I stopped caring.

I used to think to myself "You know, this show would work, if they had used different characters -a different female elf instead of Galadriel, for instance. Now, I cannot. Not even newborn elf girls could be this stupid.

Or better yet, make their own inclusive mid evil fantasy and stop defiling a classic made by a dead genius who loved God, just to spite people like Tolkien who believed or even just appreciated his ideas and themes.

They fundamentally changed Tolkien's world just to get promote their ideology, using Tolkien's name. For ex, the elves were presented us as colonizers (we have a scene where a human boy just keep verbally attacking the elf for taking their lands) The writer just conveninetly forget that all Middle Earth was originally the land of the elves, they lived there for millions of years before the first humans migrated there from the east. ;P Also, the fucked up the story of the silmarils, which tied very closely to the history if the elves (the most notable elves left Valinor because of those jewels), and the story of Morgoth, and Sauron too. They changes most thing's Tolkien wrote, and ignored his world building. (ROP's world doesn't make sense, they actively contradict their own writing in a few episodes for ex, the HArfoots doesn't leave people behind, in the next episode they did leave Nori's family behind, because his father broke his leg and no one wanted to help the travel XD) I can guarantee changing the actors would have done nothing if they didn't fix the subpar story, script first.

They had the perfect opportunity to make this story about Celebrían, Galadriel's and Celeborn's daughter. There's very little written about her so the show could have done almost anything they wanted without annoying Tolkien fans. There's also a built-in romance available since one of the few facts we know about her is that she ends up marrying Elrond and is the mother of Arwen.

I laughed hard at that Bush cut.

@@xgray2012 To be fair, most people didn't know this cultural vandalism existed. Just look at the ratings. What would be fun is having a reaction video of all the original cast watching this show for the first time.

Reminds me of Team Rocket showing up in different costumes every episode. That’s not a comparison you want for a show based on Tolkins work lol.

I can't wait for season three where he's forced to take a new identity and fool them for a third time.

Once they find an actor who ticks all the diversity boxes, Sauron will change appearances through glasses, wigs, and fake beards.

My breath was taken away by the sheer dumbassery of Amazon in season 1. With Season 2, it looks like we will all need to find new metaphors for the depths about to be plumbed. 😮😮😮

Season 3 leaked: Sauron is the same dude as in season 1 but with a fake moustache and glasses

They clearly turned Sauron into Prince of Persia.

He needs to be shaved or have a full flowing beard for a start.This guy looks like an Easterling warlord and would not have been considered "beautiful" by Elves.Sauron could take any form at one time,but looking like a servant of Morgoth to talk to Eldar and Edain would have been rather stupid from a very clever being.

This just shows how creatively bankrupt these writers are.

I wouldn't be as angry if that was Khamul, the Easterling King, but where is Annatar (Sauron's fair Elf disguise)

I seriously have no stomach for it. Amon "Galladrielll" Goeth from first season already broke me. Not to mention evil spawn of Harfoots, bereft of benevolence or even simple empathy.

I do hope this costs even more than season 1 to make.

i think most of the costs of season one was from the fact that they made really expensive set piece out of the whole sailing the ocean part at the start. And they then changed countries from new zealand to england and had to build a second studio there.

I didn't think it was possible for this show to get dumber.

Honestly, it seems like they realized that they SKIPPED THE LITERAL STORY in season 1, then figured, well let's just go back and tell the actual story for reals now. There's no way a team of creators story-boarded a first season wherein for 1 single episode, Sauron guides the Elves on some basic metalworking principles and then peace-outs, only in season 2 for him to..... do it again. This time I would bet money they'll incorporate ACTUAL MAGIC into the forging of the rings as well, because, surprise, they skipped that part the first time too.

why do they keep making alternate realities parallel with the twisted real world? THAT'S WHY THEY'RE CALLED FANTASY, ALTERNATE!

It's probably untoward to _assume_ that the major reason Sauron is going with this plan because the casting director and/or writers thought Mr. Chera looked dreamy...but it really wouldn't _surprise_ me if it was the case.

I went through the painful and shameful process of watching S1. It was so bad that my daughter and I went from high expectations to utter disappointment bordering on shame before just bursting into laughter at how bad the whole thing was. But there’s NO WAY I’ll give a single minute of my life to watch S2. And my daughter feels likewise… we need to protect what’s left of our IQ after having watched S1!! 😁

They already humiliated Sauron so much in the first season already making him do things he don't need to do and even taking away one of his coolest powers which is controlling volcanos (mount doom) and making it erupt by a silly key instead. It seems they doing the same with all characters Galadriel, Elrond, Gil-galad ..etc they just like to humiliate and ruin them

It just blows my mind that after two years or so, they still don’t have a handle on the viewer base. And placing two nobodies in charge of production of a show that costs a bucket load of money. It’s mind boggling.

I think I can see how this is gonna go. He's gonna return as Annatar and Strong Woman is gonna know immediately that it's Sauron but she can't reveal how she knows cos then she'll have to admit how she palled around with Sauron all through out the first season. So this means that the forging of the Rings Of Power will be completely Strong Woman's fault. Nice one Amazon!
