This revolver is made in 1974 ...code s-1 of the BOPE (Spanish Proofmarks) Congratulations for the restoration!
That is a clever way to essentially remove or add coils to the mainspring. Never knew that about Astra.

Making a spring shorter, doesn't change the springs weight. I.E. if you have a 12in 15 pound spring and cut it in half, you would end up with two 6in 15 pound springs. It's the diameter or thickness of the wire that gives the spring it's strength.

@@carebear8762 thanks., it may also allow for harder to pierce primers.
Ambient sounds so much better than music and speach. Don't change anything!
THIS is my kind of restoration channel. So many times I want the damn things restored fired down range.... at their own risk lol. I do like most other channels but if you competently restore a firearm and your confident enough to shoot lead down range with it then thats great.
Your channel is my version of therapy
You did such a great job. It was awesome to see it fire in double-action. I love it!

I have been waiting for this a long time
The channel's concentration on gun repair videos .
Hey, mate! Thanks for the pleasure to enjoy your work and great results of it! And yes - the sound of the babe is just music to my ears!))
I had a 1" snub nose 5 shot 38 astra all thru the 80s. Great gun
I like seeing a good ol' boy shooting again. It's a beautiful thing to give old tools a new chance to shine!
The only restoration channel that has the balls to test fire the guns.. subscribed
Great job. The soundtrack is perfect!
Just watched the restoration video last night. Well done!!!
Amazing that you were able to polish up that turd! Very cool that you brought it back to life.
Looks like it works a treat! I've never worked on an Astra before, interesting mainspring and rod anchor system. Great job on the restoration, keep up the good work! Rev. D.
As Always AWESOME material! one can really fell the passion you put into restoring these guns, bringing them back to their original beauty. Waiting for your next challenge..... cheers from the guy was shooting next to you at the range :)
Fine job. Astra, Llama and Star. Excellent firearms. Too bad they are gone. I own a Star BM. 70’s model. Beautifully built absolutely reliable and accurate. One of my carry guns.
Man I have great timing to find this channel the day he uploads the firing test
Going by just your video, cylinder timing seems ok. Good job, great video, great work.

@@restaurato6629 Keep making more man, i love Mechanical ASMR and im a gun nut. If i can request, maybe finding some older/historic war guns and bring them back to life? Some people have tried to charge me 3-5 thousand dollars to buy a rust bucket but its filled with history and i want Working History. No point in having a gun if it cant shoot, even if its a Gold plated Diamond Etched Loui XVI wheel lock. :D
I loved the asmr and the fact that you actually shot your restoration!!
Totally LOVE YOUR WORK AND DEDICATION TO RESTORING FIREARMS!
I love this type of sounds‼️
Gun ASMR .. my new sleep aid.
Favourite restoration so far love them guns .
Good firing classic gun. Sound effects? Sounds like a good time!
Well done !!! You did a great job bringing that dead pistol back to life. And the soundtrack was awesome. Thank you for the great video.
I finally see you test fire. Love your restorations. I like the main spring ring over the same solution on my Charter Arms Undercover.
It is excellent to see the revolver back in full function - you spent a lot of time on it, and this is a well-deserved reward. I think the ring in the grip with different depth holes is to allow adjusting the trigger pull weight. If the spring is not thinned by the rust, and the primers are not super hard, I would go for the deepest one, to lighten it.
@mred8002

He replaced the spring, so that shouldn’t be an issue, but it looked like he placed it in the shallower socket, so, that should be the greatest tension, if I’m interpreting it correctly. My hands are somewhat crippled, so I would go for a much lighter pull. Less wobble of the gun when firing.
Excellent work with this restoration, really glad you took the time to do it right! Can't wait to see which gun you resurrect next!
Mate those sounds were so satisfying!
Однозначно 🤝👌 Молодец 👍🖐️😊🇷🇺

That actually shoots pretty well. Double AND Single action.
Good grouping, solid shooter. Nice work brother!
The sounds are great! You motivated me to work on my neglected modern black power pistol (Pietta 1851 confederate navy) and am thinking about working on my TT-33's trigger and botched "safety"!

@@restaurato6629 I just went to a gun show on saturday and came back with 3 broken guns. I have fixed one and am currently working on the second. Wish me luck.

@@restaurato6629 The first was an an M39 Carcano. It's bolt was stuck tight, it was rusty, and the inside of the stock was filled with mold. I spent noon till 8 working on it and got it fixed up. The second is an L.C. Smith side by side 12 ga. The action works fine but the stock was badly cracked. I took it all apart, and not only was the stock broken into 3 pieces, it does not look like the inside of the gun has been cleaned in the 70+ years it has been around. I already cleaned it up, though a few screws were very difficult to get out. I still need to get the epoxy today to fix the stock. Finally is the Hopkins and Allen falling block 12 ga. This one is rough. The action moves as it should but the whole thing is covered in rust, the forend is missing, and the stock is snapped in half with nailed in brass plates barely holding it together. Once I finish the Smith I will work on the Hopkins and Allen. That will not be easy. Send me some of your gunsmithing restoration power please.
Yes, I like leather squeak and mechanical clicks of operation/loading. Nice vid, th hanks.
Great job 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Nicely done on the restoration! And thanks for shooting it! I would like to have seen a target with a simple 5 shot group (at x yards) to indicate basic accuracy of the barrel, but good video!
