If there's one thing I gotta admire about the guy, despite being terrible at making fan games, books, or just fiction in general, I really respect his drive. He doesn't stop even when he's told how much he sucks. He's like Starscream in that he doesn't quit and seizes every opportunity he can get.

YOU KNOW WHAT? I can't tell you how much I admire this man's gumption, to just keep going. For real, when everyone said: "That's enough, you stole, you tried to trick people with the title, and the game isn't good." Tyler rolled up his sleeves, and forced his vision into the world, before he could even legally drive. I respect that. I will never play these games, but I respect that they exist. Despite people not wanting them to.

I agree. This game made me start one of my first ever story lines that I’ve made and something that I’m really proud of, and I wouldn’t have done it without trtf’s existence. (And also DSaF, pretty much the story is a combination between DSaF and TRtF, which I know sounds bad, but a lot of people liked it when I posted the first chapter) so. Live laugh love lockjaw

I like that Emil asked this guy "hey get rid of my character that you obviously stole from me" and then Tyler went "ok" and did the bare minimum to 'redesign' Sugar. "Oh its a different design now" no its not Tyler, it objectively is not. There are Sonic recolor OCs more original than that.

I always called the goofy green guy who slipped on a bar of soap and fell into a springlock suit from Return to Freddy’s 4 “the Jester” because when my young brain looked at him he looked like a Jester with those three sharp things on his head. Apparently his actual name is Gron which I honestly think is the funniest name I’ve ever heard for a character ever.

One thing I love about the "slipped into a suit" scene is that, since there was no real indication of what was going on, a lot of people at the time thought he slipped on a _stick of butter_

It will sound sound weird but I personally like tyler's later design in 3 and 4, the way the faces are deformed and the kind of realistic looking eyes gives them a lot of uncannyness, intentional or not

Sort of: They moved regardless, although flipping between cameras sped up their movement a lot. On Night 1, if you never looked at the cams, the Puppet wouldn't move fast enough to ever enter your office, but if you switched between cams a ton of times really fast, you could get yourself killed by 1 AM. I'm pretty sure they never fixed it in TRTF 1, although it didn't carry over to any of the next games.

Hey, one of the TRTF Wiki moderators here, just wanted to clear up a few misconceptions and throw in some more facts that I feel are pertinent to certain points: -Emil Macko has confirmed in an interview with Gomotion that TRTF1 indeed did inspire the FNaC series. It also didn't help that there were already rumors of a secret cat animatronic in the real FNaF 2, hidden in the Prize Corner camera, and with people thinking this was actually the real FNaF 3, some people thought this meant that Candy/Sugar appeared in FNaF 2... yeah, you can see the problem. -11:53 That "human looking thing" in the corner is the same person as the one in the minigame at 12:12, and that is to say, he's BFP. These are the first instances of BFP in the series. Apparently. -12:27 Purple Guy _is_ the TRTF 1 Phone Guy, that's what this minigame is trying to show; he's not the FNaF 1 Security Guard. -Honestly, even amongst the TRTF loregods, _nobody_ understands what's going on in the minigames. And frankly I don't think Tyler did either. -In TRTF 1, BFP possesses the Puppet. Yep. Don't ask. It's never even explained, I don't think. And in TRTF 2, he possesses literally every single animatronic present. Also in TRTF 1, while he doesn't possess the other animatronics, they are given life by him, as they only activate once the Puppet has passed by them. So, essentially BFP controls every single antagonist in the first two games. -Not a misconception but you didn't show Kitty FazCat's design in the TRTF 2 Alpha and for that you get one penalty. Just look at this, please: justanotherdayinfreddy.fandom.com/wiki/File:TRTF2Kittyalphamodel.png -There was a scrapped ending for TRTF 3, called the "Sad Ending," although we have no idea of how it would've been achieved, and it can only be accessed by digging through the game's files. That's, not the real TRTF 4 in the background footage whilst talking about TRTF 4. Looks to be a fan-remake, which granted, are a-plenty. - You got everything about that TRTF 4 Night 5 minigame right. -Yep, killer bar of soap.-* Although I need to point out that Grön (Green Guy's name, which literally just means "Green" in Swedish. Note that Tyler is indeed part-swedish,) he did appear previously in one of the secret minigames needed for the Good Ending in TRTF 3. In fact, because that was literally the only time he appeared in that game, people thought he was supposed to be Vigo, the Snake, with a body. *No, nope, I'm dum, apparently I got it wrong too. It's later confirmed to be a piece of trash. My bad, moving on. -Initially BFP was supposed to be the Protagonist of TRTF 5, although that got scrapped and, the role was just taken up by an unrelated investigator. -Yes, the animatronics are doing the stripping at FRANKBURT'S. Maybe also... a bit more than that? Wink. Wink. -Sally and Koly, those rando animatronics from TRTF 4, were going to reappear in RADSLA, which was going the show the events that take place at Gilbert Facility at the start of the timeline. And by the way, RADSLA is Swedish for fear. No, Sweden doesn't have anything to do with the story, just saying it's not random letter garble. Also for people who don't want to read the book, Alison is an American mafioso who breaks into Gilbert Facility, and the Torture suits are literally made to punish and kill the employees at Fazbear Inc. Mhm. -The Road That Falls is going to be a huge project. There's actually two games planned for it: TRTF, and TRTF:V. Notice that V is the roman numeral for 5, and that TRT-Freddy's 5 was by far the most famous of the original games. Also while not officially announced, dedicated fans have discovered that he's working on secret projects titled "Lockjaw" and "Radsla," so we may actually be seeing a lot of old ideas coming back in new forms. Time will tell.

Good, but I only want to add some details, if you wants. About BFP, possesing Puppet: how I remember, even after he died in a Frankburt/Lockjaw, he just still continued feel so much pain(like Springtrap, who for some theories, still feels pain from springlocks) from springlocks, that he decided to get out of this body, became Shadow Lockjaw, and possesed Puppet just to stop his agony. Also, fun fact about BFP himself: in older iterations of the lore, he had an actual name-"Tyler Takaliken", and yeah, his name is just Tyler's real life first name, but with surname "Takaliken", wich is Gron's surname. It was because in TRTF 4-5 era, Tyler/BFP was meant to be litterly.....Gron and Lynda's biological oldest son, older brother of Jackson, Carson's uncle, and literally replacement for Charles. Originally, Gron's "childish past self" hallucination, seen in TRTF 4 Night 5 minigame, so similar to Tyler because it's actually MEANT to be Tyler, and yeah, Gron litterly attacked and tortured his own son after Lynda and Jackson(who was supposed to die before TRTF 5 retconned it, and he just was sent to a foster family to ) died in car incident, and he started to slowly go insane cause his grievening, became sadistic murderer we see in the game(yeah, sound little cringy, but anyway). After Gron died in Golden Frankburt suit at the saferoom(and I don't remember why everybody saying it's a soap because how I remember, in old lore, it was just some trash, like a sime papers), it wasn't shown but Tyler actually wasn't dead at that moment, if you coul ask this question-he just lost much of blood, and was beyond faint, before he unhanged himself from these fixating hooks, and just "ran away", seeking for help, and then was quickly transported to hospital, where he was saved, and got a foster family. About possessed animatronics: in older TRTF 1-5 iteration of the lore, was stated that he possesed ONLY 2 animatronics: Frankburt/Lockjaw(+Shadow Lockjaw is his disembodied(THIS IS A FNATI REFFERENCE🤣?) ghost, who can release out of his body....like a JoJo stand, yeah😂) and The Puppet from TRTF 2, FNaF 2 and TRTF 1. Other animatronics, like Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Fredbear/Golden Freddy, Candy/Sugar, Kitty and Vigo, actually meant to be possessed by other missing children, killed by Vincent, and revived as animatronics by BFP himself(actualy, Night 1-3 minigames meant to show us how he, as Shadow Lockjaw, litterly give them new live, before it was retconned). We only the names of Foxy's soul-"Tom Eldridge", and Vigo's soul-"Haydem Fisher"+presumbly G. Freddy's-"Chris" soul and Kitty's soul-"Hannah". Fun fact that all this kids are actually representation of Tyler's real life friends/other Sabanni Games crew(Tom is based on actual Tom Eldridge, Haydem is based on Animated Ginger(whose actual name is Haydem Fisher), Freddy's soul is based on TheFangsomeWolf(AKA MewMarisa; fun fact: in real life, Marisa is female, but her in-game counterpart is a boy, because Freddy is male. Also, she was creator of her own FNaF Fangame, named "Five Nights at Fang's: The Golden Days", and her character-"Fang the Golden Wolf" actually meant to appear in TRTF 5 as a "Torture Fang", before her game was canceled), Bonnie's soul is based on JFun300(the creator of "Five Nights at Thomas'"; fun fact: in real life, he is male, but before TRTF 4, his in-game counterpart was meant to be a girl, because for a very long time, Tyler thought Bonnie is female, but after TRTF 4/5 it was officially retconned, and he became a boy), Chica's soul is based on KidduTheMan(the creator of "Five Nights at Freddy's: Fredbear"; fun fact: in real life, Kiddu is male, but his in-game counterpart is a girl because Chica is female. But despite that, she drawn as a boy in TRTF 4 minigames), "Chris" litterly based on 2 people at the same time-Ping69413(AKA Memus, whose actual name is Chris), and Tyler's old best friend-Redessense5(his avatar was a refference for Chris' appearence, just like BFP, who is based on Tyler's old avatar), and Candy's soul is based on MrEpicIsHere777), exclude only "Hannah", who litterly representing Tyler's ex-girlfriend-Hannah Owen(KittyFazCat/Project Suki), who is also created Kitty as her OC(even her appearence is based on her real life prototype). Also, BFP even had an actual name-"Tyler"(yeah, this is refference to Tyler himself), and alongside Tom, Chris, Hannah, and also Freddy's, Bonnie's, Chica's and Sugar's souls(for some reason, Haydem isn't with them) together, they all appear in "The Happiest Moment of My Life" minigame in TRTF, where we can see how they just put on the masks of their animatronics, and they just fading away, like Charlie, Gabriel, Jeremy, Susie, Fritz and CC/Cassidy done in original FNaF 3 "The Happiest Day" minigame, representing that their souls, just like in the original, finally released from their animatronic bodies after the events of TRTF 3 Night 6(about TRTF 4.....well......Freddy, Bonnie, Lockjaw and Kitty are actually have no souls, and maybe just controlled by Gron/Golden Lockjaw). Also, we can see Chris as a protagonist of his own TRTF 3 minigame, named "A Past to Remember", what is meant to be backstory of how he died......but it's too complicated to understand it. The same thing with Haydem, who appears ONLY in his own minigame, named "Vigo's Joyful Day", where we playing as Vigo, and just go down the large hall, in all 3 parts of wich we can see a little backstory for Haydem: in first, he just laugh, enjoying being entertained by Vigo, alongside 3 random red shirt kids, in second we can see how these kids start to bullying him, and he just standing and cries, and in the final, third part, we can see him dead, standing alone alongside Vincent. Maybe, if we also remember Koly minigame in TRTF 4, this minigame could take place in the same location(maybe it is TRTF version of "sister location" from FNaF 3, maybe THAT was meant then to be the actual "first Freddy's location after FFD from TRTF 2" from 1987, that was opened before/at the same time with FNaF 2, and TRTF 4 could take place there, before it was slightly retconned to be a TV show studio), and there 2 theories: 1-maybe Haydem just was killed by Vincent, 2(my favorite one)-maybe, he was killed by Vigo himself(maybe he could be hacked by Vincent, or it could be just an accident), and that incident could be TRTF version of The Bite of 87(before it was stated to be retconned). Then, in TRTF 4 Night 1-4 minigames we can see Tom, together with Freddy's, Bonnie's and Chica's kids, standing and crying before Vincent just come to them and kill.

Fun fact: in the first The Return To freddies(and Fnaf 3(Fan Made)) if just, Sit there and do Nothing, you win by default. This works every night. And also, shifting through the cameras speeds up the animatronics' movement, moving them one step forwards every camera shift Every night is also entirely scripted, so theoratically you could speedrun the first TRTF game by mashing the cameras and surviving with the extremely precise mask usage. Edit: by "doing nothing" I mean not opening the cameras, at all.

There's times where I kinda wished the old TRTF fan-games actually did well, and especially TRTF5. As someone who's been heavily involved with following everything for TRTF, I nowadays feel extremely distant these days from this series due to how very blind and defensive I used to be about Tyler and how overall messy and questionable the series was, without realizing how bad his controversies were. But TRTF5 in particular has always had something special in my eyes. I always liked the designs of the torture animatronics, the environmental design of the building and it's rooms, and the use of old music that you'd hear from Fallout 4. There's times where I do wish that the 5th entry wasn't cancelled, and I remember even Scott Cawthon commented on one of the trailers expressing how cool it looked to him, but sadly you can't see it anymore due to the video being deleted. Imagine if this fan-game would gotten into the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative if Tyler and the series wasn't so deep rooted in controversies and he had it more thought out and handled better. I do hope that Tyler can have the ability to redeem himself for the future, especially since he's much older now, but my God do I look back now with more bad memories than good, especially since back then I was friends with some pretty toxic people at the time.

Hopefully the new, The Road That Falls game is something that isn’t canceled so we can see what he is currently capable of. Only time will tell though

@@insomniacloserxo Yeah exactly, with him being much more older now, I can't help but feel curious, and I'm hoping to see if he's majorly improved since then, both in the story-telling/game management sense, but also improved on himself mentally too, because I know how much he's struggled a lot with that in the past. I like to believe there's always a chance to become a better person if someone at least tries slowly but surely. So with that said, I do hope The Road That Falls will be good when it comes out.

The Return to Freddy's caught my interest years ago due to its 5th entry being a free roam from ground up. I was really interested in a FNAF fan game that would be a free roam instead of being locked in a place (I mean free roam created in the FNAF engine, not any of the free roam games made on Unreal, etc) and also Torture animatronics and this whole industrial complex or whatever it was.. it had a huge atmosphere and potential.. such a shame it got cancelled when the series was finally becoming more original and unique..

You can definitely tell these were made by a kid. And that's not a bad thing. Almost every child has amazing stories to tell, but has no idea how to tell them. They can put the plots out but not know how to properly flesh them out. It's very normal. But the plagiarism and the fact that this is FNAF definitely got him excessive hate. He was a weird kid, we all were

Fun Fact: while the movement in FNAF 3 Fan made and the first TRTF game is scripted it turns out the animatronics only move when if you switch between different cams so you can legit beat the entire game without even opening up the cams

37:03 i always assumed the reason there would be soap there was green guy was using the soap to clean the blood off the floor from where he killed the kid on the wall, basically cover his tracks. doesnt make as much sense saying it out loud when you consider the kid's body is just hanging from the wall plain for anyone to see, but thats literally the only reason i can think of why there'd be soap there.

Honestly it was a breathtaking scene when Gron slipped on a bar of soap and said "HELP ME VINCENT IM GRONNNIN" as he fell into the golden lockjaw suit.

Btw, the versions of The Return To Freddy's 5 that I saw steals sound effects and some of the soundtrack from Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, one of my favorite horror games of all time. You know, one of the sound effects from Amnesia was used within that series. It depicts a little child screaming and crying frantically. I always wondered where it came from and what the sound effect is called. I've asked a few fans of Trtf, but they have zero clue about it. But, I'll keep looking for it. The sound plays during a minigame from the collection of minigames associated with Trtf 5's story and for one of the endings where BFP hangs himself (pretty fucked up, to be honest). The reason why I want to have this sound effect is that I thought about making my own Fnaf fan game series if I get into contact with people who're modelers, coders, and overall fans of Fnaf.

Really nice video! Regarding reptile animatronics in the fangame side of things, there was this one series titled "Fazbear's Return" and in the 2nd game there's an alligator and a dragon called Joe and Vasco respectively. There's definitely an older example somewhere out there but that's one of the few I could remember.

Time to go down the rabbit hole again.

This game looked gorgeous, and the demos were cool, but it was way too ambitious and scattershot. I’m intrigued to see how Ahlstrom’s Kriya Studios stuff turns out.

I didn't noticed that obsession with government in the lore, I wonder where it came from, was it just lack of ideas, or was it simply because they watched huge amount of movies where plot involved government? Anyway what i liked about the original THRTF 4 was atmosphere, sound design and lock jaws design because it seems like the character's design was inspired by Freddy Kruger.

I enjoy seeing these TRTF videos, I was a fan back in the day but my God, was it such a mess lol, however I still hold a special place in my heart for this series after so long.

I remember spending one night a few years ago just reading tons of stuff on the TRTF wiki and feeling like every page opened up at least two new questions and gave zero answers. I had known it was bad but I had no idea of the true horrors until that night... and I didn't even know about the super cancer until now. This was a fun video, even if it was long. I had to laugh when you couldn't read "Poniator" or "Bio Ninja Games" but hey, this series was melting your brain, a few mistakes here and there are understandable! Also I imagine BFP is a mix of BFB and P'oniator but I'm sure others have said that already. The worst thing about this series to me......... is that the creator shares my name and is less than a year younger than me. I feel like he's my cursed clone.

all my feelings changed when you mentioned he was 15 and younger when these games were being made. he was an actual kid. a little kid making his own video game, even something as rough as the first one...? straight on the fridge. right on the top. should he steal? nope. but its on the fridge anyway. Saying he ''didn't put any work into his games'' when he was 3D modelling, animating and making entire ass video games as a CHILD is completely false. a kid actually completing a project is so rare - and he improved FAST!!! like how frequently were these games coming out? Months?? multiple games within the same school year, even when he has having problems like his girlfriend breaking up with him. Wow. I don't expect a 14/15 yr old to have the introspection and self critique needed to improve quickly, and yet he DID. Amazing.

What'd you mean making entire ass video games? He copied mechanics from other people. He copied character designs and jumpscare animations from other people. He copied enviroments from other people. He was as close as you could get to straight up copying entire games without actually doing it, almost all of it without giving the deserved credit.

the way you summarized everything in this video is great!, the impeccable editing and the script are great too

fun fact about the 8-bit music track in one of the TRTF remastered teaser games: it is a royalty free song and the stuff the woman is saying is literally “audio jungle” I just thought that was funny

yaknow, after a lot of what I have seen through the years, it's nice to just see a genuine attempt at a fangame series and to not have be tainted by anything other than lack of quality.

I think the inclusion of Emil macko as a character was meant to be a homage or shout out rather than an insult. The creator was a kid at the time, and I don’t think they understood that taking other people’s stuff for a free fan game was wrong

TBF, all these games really do give an impression of a really ambitious and dedicated kid who really wants to become popular as an indie developer, like Scott. And not in a mean way. Knowing he started his series when he wasn't even 16 & looking at his current progress in game/model creation, he really does impress. But, counting the novel/plot he wrote, his multiple cancelled projects & counselling stuff, I hope he's doing okay right now. I'd imagine having not that small attention surrounding you (which is probably somewhat negative/toxic too) would fuck you up a little, especially at a young age as well

The amount of "character breaks" i saw in this video is more than the breaks in all of the sr pelo videos

I guess this fangame was one of, alongside Treasure Island and Wario's (etc), to kickstart the era of FNAF fangames. While clearly bad in most aspects, TRTF was undoubtedly that one classic bootleg which served to help the FNAF fanbase develop to release future projects such as Fanverse. Small Fun Fact: Apparently the very, very first FNAF fangame to be ever released was a game called Five Nights at Chuck E Cheese on Roblox, having released exactly 2 months after the first FNAF released.
