The Reporter Who Nearly SCOOPED the Stargate (Dial the Gate)

Ойын-сауық

WHILE THE STARGATE PROGRAM remained a closely guarded secret throughout SG-1’s 10-season run, there were threats to expose the gate to the world. When Stargate Command was forced to deal with the media, it was often through the work of newscaster Julia Donovan and her fictional program “Inside Access.” (That’s because Donovan herself had to be read-in on the secret, after she was caught up in the events of the Season 6 episode “Prometheus.”)
“Dial the Gate” host David Read caught up with the woman behind Stargate’s dogged reporter, actor Kendall Cross. (You might also recognize her from recurring roles on The 100, Van Helsing, or Caprica.) In this clip she talks about stepping on set, working with John de Lancie, and reconnecting with her character when Julia returned in Season 8. She also reveals which member of the SG-1 cast she grew up with!
This clip is from Dial the Gate's full-length, 55-minute conversation with Kendall. Watch the full interview here: • 235: Kendall Cross, "J...

It's a real missed opportunity in the Stargate universe that Julia Donovan didn't become a more regular character after that first episode. She could have become a real thorn in the side for the SGC

Wasn't there a reporter in the 1st or 2nd season of SG1 who was assasinated for attempting to leak thebstargate program?

Yep! Your memory is right: Chris Owens played Armin Selig, a reporter who threatened to expose the program in Season 2's "Secrets."

I don't think he was assassinated, I think he walked out into traffic without looking and blamed O'Neil for it

I so miss SG. 80‘s -90‘s esp and some early 00‘s had some of the best stories for Scifi. A good twist on the 50's-70's. Now its few and far between. Its like they not only ran out of good ideas; they ran out on good storytelling.

The expanse is great, and while I'm still on the fence Severance is at least intriguing.

I'm almost happier with what your doing David, than anything they could do with a reboot revival or anything else. Your carrying forward the Original innocence, craft and bumbling success that came from experienced people that simply wanted to make a good show 22 episodes a year. The people available in Hollywood today are just inexperienced and don't care.. its all a three week gig for them and will never ascend to the level of skill these people did. The world has changed.

Kendall is in a few episodes, starting with Season 6's "Prometheus." The thumbnail is from Season 8's "Covenant."
