The Remembering in HD by Yes

Been working on this since I finished The Revealing, and finally, I think it is done. I have had like 4 requests for this just while I have been working on it. I hope you like it!
SURITIS: The Remembering. All our thoughts, impressions, knowledge, fears, have been developing for millions of years. What we can relate to is our own past, our own life, our own history. Here, it is especially Rick's keyboards which bring alive the ebb and flow and depth of our mind's eye; the topographic ocean. Hopefully we should appreciate that given points in time are not so significant as the nature of what is impressed on the mind, and how it is retained and used.
Lyrics:
As the silence of the seasons on we relive abridge sails afloat
As to call light to the soul shall sing of the velvet sailors' course on
Of the velvet sailors' course on
Shine or moons send me memories trail over days of forgotten tales
Course the compass to offer into a time we've all seen on
Into a time we've all seen on
High the memory carry on
While the moments start to linger
Sail away among your dreams
The strength regains us in between our time
The strength regains us in between our time
As we shall speak to differ also the ends meet the river's on
So the ends meet the river's son
Ours the story shall we carry on
And search the forest of the sun
We dream as we dream! Dream as one
And I do think very well
That the song might take you silently
They move fast
They tell me
There's someone rainbow
Alternate tune
In the days of summers so long
We danced as evenings sang their song
We wander out the days so long
And I do feel very well
That the evenings take you
Silently, they move round
Sunlight, seeing ground
Whispers of clay
Alternate ways
Softer messages bringing light to a truth long forgotten on
As we shall speak todiffer also the ends meet the river's son
So the ends meet the river's son
I reach over and the fruit of life stands still
Stand awhile we search our past we start anew
The music sings of love you knew
We walk around the story
Out in the city running free
Sands of companions sides that be
The strength of the meeting lies with you
Wait all the more regard your past
School gates remind us of our class
Chase all confusion away with us
Stand on hills of long forgotten yesterdays
Pass amongst your memories told returning ways
As certain as we walk today
We walk around the story
Out in the city running free
Days pass as seconds turn the key
The strength of the moment lies with you
Don the cap and close your eyes imagine yourself that is the challenge
Iron metal caast to other
Distant drums
Force the bit between the mouth of freedom didn't learn to fly
Remember to sail the skies
Distant suns
Will we reach
Winds allow
Other skylines
Other skylines to hold you
Relayer
All the dying cried before you
Relayer
We've rejoiced in all their meaning
Relayer
We advance we retrace our stories
Like a dreamer all our lives are only lost begotten changes
We relive in seagull's pages
Outwards ways
Things are all in colours and the size of other's shall send you forward
Arranged to sail you toward
A peace of mind
Will we reach
Winds allow
Other skylines
Other skylines to hold you
Relayer
All the passion spent on one cross
Relayer
Sail the futile wars they suffer
Relayer
We advance we retrace our story, fail safe now
Stand on hills of long forgotten yesterdays
Pass amongst your memories told returning ways
As certain as we walk today
Press over moments leaving you
Out in the city running free
Days pass as seconds turn the key
The strength of the moment lies with you
Out tender outward lights of you
Shine over mountains make the view
The strength of you seeing lies with you
Ours entrace we surely carry on
And change the passing of the sun
We don't even need to try we are one
And I do think very well
As the truth unfolds you
Silently
They move time
Rainbows
Sunlight
Alternate tune
Alternate tune
Rainbows
Soft light
Alternate view
Sunlight
Tell Me
Someone
Alternate view
Alternate view, surely, surely

Michael ~ Been an avid Yes listener all my life. 40 years of listening, and seen 'em 3x. This is the only song of the album l dont mind. lts got some really great parts. Other parts seem like more of a movie soundtrack. l never liked the album much at all. Wakeman never did either, and quit over it. l do not thing it touches CTTE. The song or the album. Awaken .....is a masterpiece! Glad you like it though. :D

At 1:34 alone the harmonizing with Anderson and Squire with the mini moog is amazing. First time hearing it, it struck me and brought some tears. This song is a lyrically composed masterpiece. Many Yes fans consider it the weaker of the songs on Tales. It is not weak by any means, yes there is less instrumentation compared to the others, but that is not the point of this song. I got it after the first listen and it blew my mind at how deep it is. It is a masterpiece. You just have to get it once it clicks in your mind.

@@scivalesmusicbooks1977 So true. I wonder how great he might have played if he had LIKED it...haha! But seriously, a real example of what it means to be a true professional. That Rick could create on this level without being artistically in synch with the rest of the band leaves one dumbfounded. The keyboard work on this album is among the best ever done. Fifty years after first hearing it it still gives me chills. I say that as a keyboard player myself, humbled and in awe of its beauty and power.

As a Yes fan; when you finally get around to Tales and you finally "get it"; it's so joyful...The layers of all the songs is exquisite...Some of Yes's best work... It saddens me that, despite the half century of their playing, and the millions of fans; Yes is fading into the long night...People lack the patience to endure a 20 minute song...A song that requires imagination, patience, love of instruments, a love of Art...Five years after my first comment and I yearn for those days..That's how terrible it's gotten.

I remember when I first heard this after I bought it from Hit Records in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas Texas. I was mesmerized. My friend David was also and became and instant fan of YES. It was late 1973 and I bought it because of the album cover. Damn, the greatest selection of music I ever made. Now I'm 65 and still nothing compares to the majesty of YES music. They will be remembered the way Beethoven and Mozart are remembered. The Beatles and Stones will be remembered for popular music. But YES will be remembered for the unique classical music of the 20th century.

I hear this song since 1974 (I´m 58) For me is the best album of Yes and this is the best song. With this track I had a mystical experience: once, hearing this, I was able to make a link with myself in my youth, like if I were sending a message through time. (I´m not an alchemist or substances consumer...just in order to avoid suspicions) Always thought this is a "cosmic song"

THEN went back to listening to Topographic. Least listened to...and so glad I did. And from YES I've *so* loved Wakeman's "Journey to the Center of the Earth".... but I really gotta say, Anderson's "Olias of Sunhillow" is the best from one of the minds of YES. A link to so many wonderful memories.

The interlude beginning at 15:50 and lasting for two minutes is one of the most intensely beautiful passages on this great album. Wakeman's careful keyboard work here, the interplay with Alan and Steve and the multi-layered sounds phased over one another: this is pure atmospheric music, just like the Floyd's opening for "Shine On", recorded almost two years later. Wakeman didn't agree with the concept for the album but he is completely in tune with the music of the band here.

Unbelievable song, best on this album. The epitamy of progressive rock. The last 5 minutes is as good as anything Yes has ever done. This song just soars, brings you to a higher cosmic level. Jon Anderson's voice is heaven sent, what a supreme talent. Love everything about this song.

I had not listened to this song in perhaps five years, and someone was pi$$ing on it on a video, and I thought that I remembered it differently, because I had loved it when it came out and for many years later. I originally felt that it was as good as Revealing Science and Ritual. So when I listened to it again, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was, and that certainly it is every bit as good as the other masterpieces on the album. I have listened to it every day for a couple weeks, and it is just breathtakingly beautiful and magnificent. It is hard to imagine the state of mind of the members of the group in putting together such an incredible piece of music.

Jon’s lyrics here are what I call “impressionistic” for a reason. In the same way Monet can paint an impression of lilies that feels more real than the real thing, so Jon’s lyrics here try to express the inexpressible.

No the fuck it's not occult. It's intentionally vague but as he has very clearly expressed, all 4 compositions of Topographic are based on Indo-Aryan Shastras: the shruti, smriti, puranas, and tantras. These are orally recorded epics, legends and instructions generally related to nature, change, the true intent embedded in every concept, and compassion. Do you hear satanic shit about child sacrifices to Molech and Ba'at? White people love narratives being solely about them.

@@alisyedhasany6594 ’Occult' is not a perjorative term. It just means 'hidden' or 'esoteric.' I'm not trying to label any spiritual traditions. I'm just trying to reclaim the word. I mean no offence by suggesting that the Shastras might be seen as 'occult' by westerners. I am just saying that we know very little about them. So-called 'occultism' has nothing to do with satanism or child-sacrifice, except in very rare and criminal cases. But every tradition has its criminal element. And are Hindus polytheists? It's many years since I read the Hindu scriptures, but I understood them to teach about one God with many aspects and manifestations. I'm not being sarcastic here, by the way. That's a genuine question.

Just by reading all these praiseworthy comments on this page nearly 5 decades later tells us they captured a whole new audience of Yes fans who remained loyal and learned to love all of the music from this band.

Bought this album when it was brand new. My bandmates and I, Yes fans already, were bowled over. We thought they had gone beyond anything ever done, and had created a new genre of music altogther--to merely call it "rock" seemed to fall short. We felt it was on a level with classical masterpieces--music that would be played and enjoyed and discussed a hundred years from now. Well, now here we are, fifty years since then--halfway there. My opinion of it remains the same.

ps I believe Darwin's Theory is incorrect, not his fault, he didn't know what is known today, I go with the Hebrew theory of a young Earth, but they seem to have lost a few years in their dating method; given the differences between the Septuagint(common in Yeshua's time), and the Masoretic(KJV O.T.), it is thought to be a conspiracy, though I very much doubt it given their sincerity in abiding by the Word. But I could be wrong, as it appears that some sort of elaborate cover up involving the history of the man Yeshua(Jesus), as he is still unrecognised by certain factions in the Jewish community, and those factions are expecting the imminent appearance of a Mashiach, who is not Yeshua. This could be something to do with the appearance of the one who is not the true Mashiach, we wait and we watch. The true one will come as he left, Acts 1:9-11. With clouds. The false one is spoken of in the book of Revelation. "As in the days of Noah". The preterists believe this has already happened, but their theory doesn't line up with the final chapters of Revelation. Shalom.

Wakeman first said that Topographic although it had good material failed to stick to traditional structure which was his big thing. It also had parts that they just filled in rather than carefully polishing. Wakeman could be stubborn and immature. He complained that Relayer was also another undisciplined album which he would have struggled to perform. But on his own Rick fell into financial ruin and was thankful to come back.

It’s not only the music and lyrics that you find yourself understanding a little more every time you listen, but the images as well. The image of the father and son together while “stand on hills of long-forgotten yesterdays” is being sung just dawned on me, the lyrics referring to the concept of humanity learning and growing from the experiences of all previous generations while the image focuses on the passing of knowledge from one generation to another.
