The RedFish Bite is HOT at Lake Calaveras! Catching Massive RedFish Back to Back!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This weekend I was nailing Red Drum left and right! I ran out of Bait!! All of these fish where landed between 1200 and 1500. It was a great time! I used simple hooks and split shots with goldfish for bait. Use chatter baits for trolling as well!
Unfortunately, I was hospitalized later in the day and not only is this video getting out late, I may be taking a couple weeks off. PLEASE stay tuned in to my channel as I will definitely do my best to be back ASAP.

Love that, that’s awesome to hear! Sorry about the beginning of it! looking back I wish I could take it out now. The night after fishing, I got hospitalized! I thought I had appendicitis but I actually had a pinched artery in my chest! Terrible stuff! Didn’t die and am still making videos when I am able! 😅

Oh yea! They are a blast! Actually, this is one of the only fresh water lakes that hold Redfish! Lake Calaveras is located right outside San Antonio. From what understand, they where stocked!

Thank you! Found out I got SMA Syndrome. Back on my feet for now but waiting to see if surgery is in my future or not! Got a baby due and moving across the country so trying to hold off long as I can. The goldfish worked great for me. Worst mistake I was making is I didn’t have heavy enough gear for them. Lost so many cuz of that.

In Texas if you have a motor you need to register your boat 🚤 even kayaks

Yes I figured that out while i was there😅 I actually had a pleasant conversation with the commission about that! Found out that for me to use my kayak with a motor for less than three weeks, is about 300 bucks! They told me the definition does not define the difference of an out of state boat. So my kayak with the electric motor is equal to some crazy v haul with 300s haha. The commission was very kind and let me operate the two days I wanted to go. Y’all got some amazing waters down there!

able to catch these beauts off the shore or mainly by boat?

From what I heard, you can most definitely catch them from shore! I saw many fisherman trying their luck at the campgrounds around this lake. They where doing long surf rod style fishing to get their bait as far out as they could. I have only ever tried for them from my kayak though!

My kayak is not registered to Texas game and fish. I was there for a month of training at Lackland. Since my kayak has an electric motor, it’s a motorized craft. Texas unfortunately does not see a difference between my rig and a cigar boat, so it would have cost me roughly 700 for a month worth of water pass.

In short, can have motor there of your choosing but it has to be registered regardless of size or power supply

Hello! I used rattle traps about 15ft down while trolling and for the jigging I used a goldfish on a small octopus hook with about 1/4 oz split shot just up the line. Worked great the next weekend as well!

Happy to help! Yea this video was at coordinates 29.280418, -98.317924. Another spot I really liked was along the Dam wall just west of the Buoys. There is large concrete box in the side of the dam. Fish strait out from that in about 25-27 foot of water. They seem to travel through their often. You will have your lines go crazy for 15 mins then dead for hour. Worth the wait though.
