Hey Bud, I'm Fascinated with the idea that you are catching saltwater reds in fresh water. I don't know anything about fresh water fishing. I would like someday to give it a try. But I do know salt water fishing. I noticed that you were using Argentinian Pink shrimp as bait. In salt water all we are allowed to use is Shrimp caught in Texas waters. TPWD states that other shrimp not from our waters could passably care deceases and or parasites that our native shrimp have no resistance to and thus could devastate our shrimp industry. Again I don't know anything about fresh water fishing so, just FYI. Good luck on catching salt water Reds in fresh water. That sounds so weird to me. But it's fascinating.

Good info about the shrimp, I’ll definitely read up about that. The Redfish are raised in a hatchery and dumped by the thousands as fingerlings. The redfish are also sterile, so they can’t breed, and there’s no size limit after 20 inches as in size. Still 3 per person .You should definitely give it a try if your close to the area. Thanks

I have penn battle 2’s rod and reel combos that I use all the time at Port A. When I fish Calaveras I take off the penn battle reels and put them on some cheap catfish Shakespeare rods that I got from Walmart for under 25 bucks with 20 pound mono. You don’t need expensive equipment to catch.

Thanks I was using penn battle 2 reels 8000 with a cheap Shakespeare rod.

The guy wasn't even on plane coming in and he didn't appear to just come by when you caught that fish. Coincidences do happen. Now him coming by way too close without knowing you the second time was "bad form" indeed. I can show you many videos, including live cams on the Cowlitz river in WA, were you would be amazed at the boats jetting by you in about a rod's length reach. Or were you fish Drano Lake 80-100 boats all within 15-40 ft trolling from you the whole entire day. Matter of perspective, like most things in life....JMHO BTW, your first spot is too deep for this time of year. GL, and see ya out there. Keep the videos coming sir.

It was a bag called Argentine red shrimp from H-E-B plus frozen section. They were out the the original head on shrimp at the time.

He didn’t care, just trying to catch some fish. That was still wrong and I got several at Canyon that do the same to me at party cove. There is no reason he should wake so hard that your boat rocks like that.

@@Fishin4Trophies me too. Another season like this and the ski boat goes next. We went out a total of 4 times. In 2022 it was every Sat from May till Sep minus one for a vacay.
