I met Marvelous Marvin Hagler around 40 years ago in Green Bay. He was shooting pool at the Midway Motor Lodge in the pool area with his Manager. No one else was around. He was super nice and I shook his hand which was the size of a baseball mit. He beat Leonard. RIP Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

He was a Brockton kid like me. ( and the real Rocky, Rocky Marciano. ) I was a boxing fan and followed his entire career. Even stood near him in a restaurant lobby once. I was sad to hear of his recent passing. A true inspiration and boxing legend.

This guy was soooo tough. There are some extremes out there that may have been even more quick, better chin, even better versatility with technique, but Marvelous combined each area to a height most could not reach.

Honest question: how in the world is he underr-appreciated? There isn't a boxing fan or historian that knows his name that doesn't call him if not THE greatest Middleweight, ONE OF the top 2 or 3 at worst? If it's just a matter of the new, uninformed modern boxing fan not knowing about him, then the same can be said of Big George Foreman, who I would argue is in the top-3 HWs of all-time--and I will argue that claim until I draw my last breath. Again, it's a genuine question. I would actually love to hear your opinion. I'm not a Social Media doorknob so I actually respect other people's thoughts and reasoning.
