It's called boxing, not fighting. Footwork, feinting, moving, and evading are all aspects of boxing. Two people just standing and trading is called a street fight.

Casuals tend to like toe to toe or “Mexican style” where you just sit there giving each other CTE for ten rounds. They like to call speedy defensive focused fighting “running” because their brains are smooth 🤷🏽‍♂️

Hagler should never have agreed to Michael Ray Leanoard Jackson's demands that allowed him to dance around and run then flurry with pillow gloves. Hagler should have said no and told Ray he was a vag for changing standard rules.

To people that still thinks Hagler should've won this fight you better get your eyes checked, being the aggressor but mostly missing the punches won't get you the win, Leonard's punches may seem not do any damage against Hagler but most of them landed, its easy to score.

This fight has been analyzed for decades by boxing experts and computer technology and the fact is that Marvelous Marvin Hager landed 73 percent of all clean punches landed. If Leonard threw a 6 punch combination and landed 1 clean punch, the crowd went crazy and obviously his score went up, however the fact is this. Apart from the fact that Haggler should never have agreed to Leonards demands for a bigger ring than the standard size and bigger gloves than the standard size, so Leonard could run away from Haggler and Haggler would find it more difficult to hurt Leonard with the bigger gloves. Haggler should have never agreed to the fight when Leonard ran away from Haggler when they were both in their prime and refused to fight Haggler

I have watched and re-watched and in slow motion and feel bad for the morons that thought Ray Leonard won, because they clearly weren't analyzing the fight, and Marvelous Marvin Hagler himself, for being robbed of a victory. Start of the 5th round, Marvin just walked him down the whole fight, and he did it beautifully. I'll never erase that 118 -110 score from my mind though.

Srl played Hagler for the fool ! I had this a draw and it should never have been that close. 1st srl had everyone gathered to supposedly announce fight with mmh, but retired. Once he felt that Hagler lost a step, he moved in. Gave mmh more money in exchange for bigger ring, bigger gloves, and 12 rnds. Hagler could not catch ray and looked slow all nite ! I still had it a draw, and had it been called a draw, it woulda forced a rematch in which srl wanted nothin to do with !! RIP champ !!

Hagler fights going to the judges, most times were unfavorable even as a champ. I never seen Marvelous ever being shook up from a punch. It was said he had a very hard skull! He was amazing. It used to be back in the day where you had to literally knockout the champion to become the champion...except if you were Ray Leonard. And to make it worse Leonard did not agree to 15 rounds, needed a ring the size of a 2 bedroom apartment, and never gave a rematch to Marvelous

Hagler was the aggressor through the whole fight but he missed so many punches and that made Leonard look good. Leonard’s flashy faster punches every now and then impressed the judges more although it didn’t hurt Hagler. Hagler probably won but considering he did so well against Hearns he didn’t look impressive enough.

Sugar Ray Leonard's excessive holding will always prove to me that he never wont this fight because he never actually boxed the entire fight. He held so much that Marvin couldn't fight. Now if anyone thinks that should be normal, you shouldn't be watching boxing. There was a time where excessive hugging in ONE round would cost you a point! Now, you can do it an entire fight and be called a CHAMPION? I mean, WTF!? Who in their right boxing mind thinks excessive holding is part of boxing!? In what Championship fight, has anyone ever seen this much HOLDING!?

He approached this the way Bruce Lee wòuld have if he was a boxer. The art of boxing. I never did care for that style of just landing soft ineffective taps that have nothing on them because you’re already trying to back away as you throw them because you’re running backwards most of the fight. I know modern boxing doesn’t deduct points for constantly backing away and excessive holding. But it should. The person who is being the agressor and moving forward should get more consideration for the round.

My argument to anyone who says otherwise is to watch the entire fight in slow motion without bias. Remember, punches to the arms, gloves, shoulders and the air do not count (Sometimes you gotta spell it out for some people). Leonard haters: "he ran around." Observers: "Ali fought the same damn way. Nobody seemed to bitch about that. Did they?"

Hagler got robbed. Judge Jo Jo Guerra 118-110? Really?? WTF? fight were you watching? Leonard in no way did enough to take that title away from Hagler. Promoters and mangers making loads of money of the poor boxers. Ex heavyweight champs Jersey Joe Walcott and Max Baer appear in it a couple of times. It’s an excellent movie 8/10. Regarding the Hagler Leonard fight. Even though Leonard was a blown up welterweight compared to a natural middleweight in Hagler fighting in his comfort zone, Leonard won. Leonard boxing brain boxing skill and super fast hand speed beat haglers brute force. Brain beat brawn.
