    YAY! Thanks for the shoutout Jay! I was in pretty good shape, had a great board, but terrible fins and got an "education" at Cloudbreak on the Tavi Tube Tour 2019. A proper set of fins, booties, and an endless supply of belly jelly are a must have.

    What is surprising is that the Churchill's design did not change for 30 years and those fins are still used by top riders!

    That's because fin molds cost about $15,000 each, and since Churchills are asymmetric fins, that would be $30,000 per size to change them.

    Jay, why two microphones? You are right on with the personal preference / comfort being #1 factor.

    The lavalier is for my phone which is shooting the video. The studio mic is for the audio podcast which I record on my laptop.

    Sorry..."dibits"? Do you mean "divots"? Sorry....I made this video over a year ago. Do I mention this in the video somewhere?

    @@eBodyboardingcom yes divots, I mean the wholes in the deck. On this vídeo you ironed the damaged part of the board, in order to melt and glue. If there was a small whole would you apply hot glue?

    Hi Jay, what is your opinion about the classic viper and the viper V5 model? Greetings from peru!! Master 🤙

  • @eBodyboardingcom

    The "Classic" Viper is the V7. The V5 is just a shorter version of the V7. 5" blade instead of 7" blade. That is a heavy, narrow fin. Won't work if you have wide feet or wear thick booties. They have a ton of power though!

    Jay, I've used the full booties for years, but since I walk over rocks to get to the surf I am constantly putting holes in the heel. I'd love to find a soft booty with a reinforced heel, maybe a rubber pad there?

    Funny you mention this...we have new booties and fin socks coming in the next 2 weeks with Kevlar-reinforced bottoms on them for this very reason.

    @@JayReale Be sure to include that in the first possible sales e-mail. I'd love to test those out. My last pair developed a hole after just a handful of snorkel days.

    Jay when you were sponsored by Churchill, did you modify your fins to have toe holes for sand drainage??

    No, just kept them as is. Never had an issue really.

    Jay, what ever happened to Scott and Redley fins?

  • @eBodyboardingcom

    @eBodyboardingcom

    Scott stopped making fins 30 years ago. Redley stopped in 2006. It's a very competitive market in the fin game.

    Be careful, asymmetrical fins can cause problems with knee or ankle joints, because the thrust is not in line with the leg and this causes pain. I had Churchill fins, they were fine but my knee didn't like them 😭 Has anyone else had this problem? 🙄
