There ain't no pussies in those big waves😊
I would like to add: Don't under estimate the power of the ocean. Even waves that look small can knock you around if you aren't ready. Stay safe out in the water!

That cannot be emphasized enough. The sea gives, but the sea takes as well.
So cool you’re a body boarder. I’m from Hawaii and you’re too young to remember wooden paipo boards were what we used before boogie boards were developed. We made our own out of plywood and resin back in the day. A friend of mine’s husband long ago made the first boogie board prototype and we all thought he was nuts. He sold his design to some company back then (Man I’m dating myself haha). We love watching you!!

I’m on vaca on pacific beach in San Diego, and having listened to his tour vids before and upon arrival on where to go, there are free body boards where I’m staying. So relates to typical visitor content to me!!

You can use a small board. Just use it as a hand board, extend it way out in front of you. In Waikiki, McDonalds doesn’t have trays, because people were always stealing them to ride waves.

Thanks Alex! Yup! I love the beach ;)
I laughed at #11. A good rule of thumb for board size is 2 or 3” above your belly button. After a day or so of jumping into the white water of a wave that has already broken you will probably be bored. Where you really want to be without fins is in the sweet spot where the waves are cresting but not yet breaking but you can still stand. So you will probably need to master “duck diving” to get out there (look for videos). And I have two tips for catching waves. First don’t be scared to kick your feet even without fins. You will often be able to catch up from a late start. Second I like to do what I call cocking the board. Right before I push off with my legs I use two hands on the front of the board to push it into the water pretty vertically. It will pop up like a cork and helps with the take off especially if the water is a little deeper.
Thank you
🤩👍 TY Chris for expert advice! ⭐*⭐*⭐*⭐*⭐

I learned the hard way growing up. Only way I was taught was to ride it like a surfer and the first few trips was just tumbling over before learning how to control that. Thanks for the video to help teach my boy on his first trip!

The beaches in San Diego are great!
Ok but deadass that’s a sick ass pirates of the Caribbean design on the small board
Greetings Chris! I had to comment on your Body Boarding video. 1. You are absolutely correct about avoiding those styrofoam body boards and the kind you have in your hand, you will be able to pass it down to your grandchildren. Hmmmmm….. those waves behind you are kind of lame. The NJ shore has some nice wave action. The biggest thrill one can get while boogie boarding is when you finally catch that great wave and you are flying into the shoreline. But unbeknownst to you, someone wiped out in a wave or two in front of you surfaces around 3’ in front of you and the expression on their face right before you ride over them. Now this isn’t done on purpose, but it’s kind of unavoidable. Take care and we have to see the Traveling Princess boogie boarding!

Thanks Vincent. Yeah. The waves were small the day I shot this. But that's good for a beginner video 😉

Mission Beach is my favorite spot in San Diego 😉
The get to waist deep or less water I swim out to the second or third sand bar depending on tide and wave height.
Crystal Cove got nice waves…esp for beginners like me!😊

What's the overall leg position? Knees together and ankles together AND legs parallel to the surface of the water? As opposed to bent at the hip and kind of dragging in the water?
@YellowProductions

Yeah. I'd say toes/feet slightly dragging the surface of the water. But yeah. Generally keeping your upper legs out of the water

I'm in Oceanside, planning to go out to bodyboard for the first time. Do you have a video on how to do it or what else can you do? Do you just walk up to the wave turn around and ride it out? That's it? lol Most of the videos are about equipment. I want to know what all you can do with a bodyboard.
@YellowProductions
Жыл бұрын
If it's your first time. Yeah. That's about it ;). Jump on the wave and ride it in. Tons you can so if you get better.. but it won't be your first time
If your gonna go into deeper waters you should invest in fins

Tks for tip. I was wondering if I should get some before long trip to the gulf
I think you look at a video of jeff hubboard.
I’m sorry to be that guy but I find getting on the waves before they crash is more fun so just keep that in mind if you lack some intertainment
BZ, I trash them in one session in Hawaii.
Love the ocean but scared of sharks and jellyfish.. help
You don’t have to jump on to the board. I prefer catching the wave as it’s forming and catch speed. I think jumping on it after it breaks is more for beginners. Just my opinion

Yo u gitta ride the wave 😂not a bodyboarder more of a kook
Tip 1 . Buy some flippers and don't be a kook
You get what you pay for.
Lololololol
This guy is a kook. Methinks bodyboarding is jumping into waves that have already breaked. Ideally you want to catch a wave before it breaks so you can see which way the wave is breaking, make a turn and start carving.
WTF is wrong with the audio? unwatchable
