Thanks @JayReale for posting this!!! Not sure if you read these messages, but it's worth a shot! I met you at T-street in the mid 90-'s when I was 13 years old. My friends all had the Mike Stewart boards (black and yellow) but I rode a Jay Reale Mach 7-SS (red deck with thumbrails). You saw my board and paddled over to say hi and chat with us. I was in shock and super awkward, but you were super friendly. While it was a passing moment in your life, it was a really big deal to me and I memory I haven't forgotten! Crazy that 30 years later I see your video while repairing my kid's bodyboard so we can get back in the water together! Wishing you the best!!!

I appreciate you selling high volume boards. I wish more bodyboard companies would display the volume of their boards instead of just focussing on length to determine the right sized board-A narrow and thin 43" board could have a lower volume than a 41" board thats wider and thicker. I'm a bit short and stalky and like to ride DK but find 42"+ boards a bit too long and forces me to lay on the board farther back. Although a longer board delays my pop up by "only" ~0.5 seconds, it could mean the difference of making the drop or popping up too late and eating it. 40" is the perfect length but often lacks sufficient volume for my weight, which in turn hinders speed. A 40" HV board is the sweet-spot for someone short and stalky as myself who likes to DK.

I've been a fan of both you since the 1990s and have had posters of both of you legends on my bedroom wall as a grom in Hawaii! I also recall reading love stories of the two of you in bodyboarding magazines back then. It's great to see the both of you still representing the underground sport of bodyboarding and that eBodyboarding is still doing well. I was an early customer of the website and submitted a verty crude bodyboarding pencil drawing that you kindly posted when the site used to feature art work from customers. Thank you for sharing the endearing story and for all that you do for our sport of bodyboarding!

I just ordered a chief flex bat tail. I used to ride an empire 42. About 10 years ago or more trying to get back into it this summer. Got a Costco (Scott burke ) board for the kids, tried it out and I couldn't catch anything at Sunset Beach. Im 5 '10 240. Learned to catch waves on the empire. About same weight give or take back them. Hoping this board will make it fun again at 51 year old. Only downside is the one color option!

Just ordered the MS Style Loaded HV board for a trip coming up in Jan w/ warmer water temps, hoping it's a good match as well. I feel the top deck should be a little concave in HV boards. Due to my round beer belly, there is not much contact and even with a lot of wax, I still tend to slip off when paddling hard. Edit: Or this might be get a 2 inch too long board due not finding a HV board locally here in South Africa.

  • @krusher74

you should be on the inside rail making contact with the elbow and hip not in the center on your belly.

  • @leppie

@@krusher74 That is fine while taking the wave. But just general paddling is the problem with a really round belly :( Just rotating, there is a good chance to slip. The contact area is just too little (yes, loosing weight will solve this).
