Ditto. Before long we decided we could easily afford to continue investing and giving on one income so I retired early. Be careful, you will be busier than ever if you retire early. If one’s goal is more new stuff, that stuff will be old again in a few years and you’ll be a rat in a cage - I see it in many friend’s lives. We are hear to serve each other so what’s the best way to get there? Go!

I state that people will fail because they had a not well thought out plan. As I told my own subscribers. I have known people who fail at everything they attempt. Repeatedly begin start ups that go under. Pursue visions that never materialize. Many times this isn't because the person is a loser--they just have bad strategy. They leap off the cliff with self belief, having no idea if there is water below or if they will land face first into the jagged rocks. They just think things will work out. Careful planning far in advance is the key. Where is the location of your business going to be? How many competitors are there? Is your degree marketable? Is it only marketable in the city and you want to live in a small town? People who don't think about these things are the ones who will continually think the universe is against them as they fail over and over. As the saying goes: the war is won before the battle even begins. Hope this helps someone out there--Charles.

Think of a monk, or a stay at home mom raising kids to the best of her ability. i wish we would broaden our definition of success.

Here’s my opinion: 1. People don’t pick the right skills in demand, shooting for fun jobs that are few and pay poorly. Results in student debt and underemployment 2. Poor habits that keep people from working hard. Phone addiction for example makes hard to focus on studying, and thus acquiring hard skills. Fatigue from poor sleep keeps people from bringing 100% effort at work, and getting promotions (dead end job as a result) 3. It is harder to be successful in 2023 than the 60’s, due to wage stagnation combined with inflation. Stricter budgeting and decision making is essential

His Sherpa Tenzing may have been the first one but the did not reviele this and Sir Edmond always gets the credit. This is unfortunate as Sir Edmond was a very Humble man and always wanted to share the credit with Tenzing.

I’m 33 and have a 3.5 rate for 97k left I think I should invest in so 500 over 25 yrs and I will have more than just throwing my extra cash at mortgage? I’m not sure this is my forever home in 10 yrs my daughter is done with school. Might move south sell home. Profit for new house hopefully all cash.

Most people aren’t successful specifically because the system is set up that way. If everyone became successful then we would all starve. If everyone was a successful business owner then no one would be growing the food cooking the food running the stores that sell the food shipping the supplies delivering goods, paving the roads building homes etc… we depend on the workers we don’t depend on the two guys in this video. If they disappeared society would function just fine but if a bunch of rail workers disappeared our society would utterly collapse. We NEED workers so we should pay them like that.

I disagree with that notion of success. I'm already perfect the way God made me. I don't care what others think of me. I do cut grass, because I want to. There is no success or failure outside of sincerity, goodwill and service. Everything else is bullshit. The purpose of life is to live well. And then we die, which is okay. That I show up with what I've got, to do the best I can for those around me, I'm good, regardless of the outcome. Mistakes are lesson. the only way to fail is to not care, or to care and do nothing. That is a failure of self and a harm to those you would have helped.

Well there is confirmation bias and survivorship bias plus other factors. Hard work only pays off under the right conditions. Yes do you know why? Because they don’t even know themselves how they got successful. They got lucky. Notice how none of these successful people ever tell you once how to get successful they all just say worthless platitudes. They say “be good work hard” well nice most people do that yet aren’t successful. My philosophy: Most people aren’t successful not because they are lazy or because they aren’t smart enough or because they are morally deficient, No many people are not successful specifically because the system is set up that way. If everyone became successful then we would all starve. If everyone was a successful business owner then no one would be growing the food cooking the food running the stores that sell the food shipping the supplies delivering goods, paving the roads building homes etc… we depend on the workers we don’t depend on the two guys in this video.
