A college education used to be viewed as a necessary requirement for most white collar jobs. The majors and classes were geared to provide the information needed for the job requirements to start. Now majors are being provided almost as entertainment, because kids today are taking classes / majors that have zero job opportunities outside of academia. There is no critical thought given to actual preparation for adult life and career by the student. The Universities and Collages are happy as it means money for them. It is a truly caveat emptor situation.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. My father graduated with an engineering degree, even though he sold cars for 35 years. The one class he failed in college was salesmanship.

1:40 I would argue health care has also risen exponentially, and for the same reason. George Noory from Coast to Coast found his hospital bill from being born in 1950, it was $50 cash. Now it costs $20,000 or more, and a large portion of births are paid for by the government. If all doctor bills were cash, and insurance were outlawed, healthcare would be much cheaper.

I don’t think I ever read a book or article written by a professor after I graduated. I read things by people actually on the profession. Real people with real jobs. Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.

If their education is of such great value, then why do they pay the teachers so little. I was never paid even half of what the schools told the students they would earn with the degree I had in order to teach.

I believe the real goal here is to create a situation where the cost is so outrageous that only the government can afford the bill. Then in the name of cost consciousness, the government will limit how many people that go to college since they are paying the bill. The government will also decide which colleges you may attend. They will ultimately decide what you must major in, controlling the number of graduates in each field. In the end, the government will own you because they financed your education and if you don't play ball, the government will deny your children a college education in the name of some equity policy. But it is actually just retribution for not doing what you're told.

Whatever the government subsidizes will proliferate? What a concept. Require a student--or their parents--to access the lending market for tuition money and watch the price of a secondary education plummet.
