The REAL Cost Of A Kitchen Reno (Part 2: Medium Budget)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Designer Maia Roffey of Black Sheep Interior Design gives her inside take on the budgets of three kitchen renovations, breaking down all the costs (including labour, designer fees and contingency expenses). Comparing a big-box budget kitchen, a medium hybrid kitchen with some Ikea cabinetry, and a high-end custom kitchen complete with built-in banquette and luxe appliances, this is essential viewing for anyone considering a kitchen overhaul.

Love the announcement at the beginning about remembering that these are actual people's renovations and that it's to THEIR preferences. Nice to keep this in mind and it's generous of the owners to share the numbers with us!
The concept of this series is golden!! Thanks. I like thinking of it in these different cost/area tiers. Especially since I like a smaller footprint kitchen, but gravitate towards the high-end
This video just told me that I can’t afford to renovate my kitchen at this time!

Perhaps just a facelift until the time is right? Hang in there, you’ll get your dream kitchen one day!
The kitchens we see on this channel are easily well over 6 figure renovations. Good breakdown.
This definitely puts things into perspective, thank you! It also makes it easier to look at some of the shown kitchens - here and in magazines- and realize that one of the reasons they are so beautiful is the budget available. Helps to take the pressure off 😆
This is a very helpful video to get an idea of costs, but I also recommend asking around for recommendations, comparing quotes, and doing your research. I spent half of this on a similar sized kitchen in Toronto with custom cabinetry and high-end appliances (did not use a general contractor or designer).
I think there were some really good insights here. I think one of the best things to take into account is creating a budget that is appropriate to the community you live in.

This series is the BEST THING I'VE SEEN ON KZread about home renovation, full stop. Best thing. Because without an idea of what things costs, it's just all eye candy. This was so great. Question for you. What computer program do you use for your actual budget? What do you use? Excel? Or something else? Thanks so much if you could respond.
Generous of owners to let you share costs. Very helpful.
Thank you for this series, very informative and well explained, the host is awesome. Hope you do more of these on different areas of the home.
Love this! Please do more but for other rooms!!!
Tell the people: Thank you for your very special generosity. 💕
Loved this - exactly what I've been looking for
Thanks for this breakdown!
So great, thanks.
Would the final spend on the kitchen not already include some contingency? Unless they spent exactly what they budgeted.
Surprising how cheap the cabinets were. Basically the part of the kitchen you’d think would be the most money and in reality it’s the countertop and everything else combines is still worth more than the cabinets.
I love this too.🥰👍
Nice!
I can buy a house with that renovation money 😁
a mid priced kitchen in Canada can build a really nice house in Indonesia... LOL
Wow godd job
Yet I'm here lothering over the $2000 I spent on renovating my kitchen.
Or paint your cabinet doors, put in new counters get cleaners in and be done. Anyone who buys your house will probably redo your kitchen anyway.

I don’t know how many times I see people selling their kitchen cabinets in a house that’s not even more than 5-8 years old. Basically brand new cabinetry just giving it away for a couple thousand dollars just because you don’t like the color and willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars just because it’s not just the way you like it. The amount of waste in our society is ridiculous. Many times people are getting rid of solid hardwood cabinetry for chipboard it’s unreal.
More than my first house
All these budgets is significantly lower than what I thought about

You are hilarious!! LOL
Guys, you need to shop around. For example, I just had to redo my deck - and the lumber was at all times high cost. It is 16 x 24 deck plus backyard gate and fence with two stairs on each side of a deck . It ended up costing me $7000 material and labour. As a way of comparison, my neighbour paid for half of this size and rather basic design $17500 and that was a 'going rate'. Shop around. Avoid 'designers' and contractor's suggestions at all cost. Is she kidding? 30% to the designer? Wow, are they getting built into the kitchen? LOL Go with your gut. You know what you like. Home Depot or any kitchen place will do a free design for you. And any custom kitchen will be bending backward to do design for free for you. And I'm pretty sure you know how to select apliances. One word of warnining: Do not cheap out on plumbers and electrician!
