If you disagree with his "End time" views, and you find yourself getting upset and insulted, Take a moment, and ask yourself, "Why am I so unwilling to hear a different viewpoint?". I went through it myself, and I am so grateful that I did! My bible makes so much more sense to me now. Scripture fits into place so much better. Please, open your mind, and explore his points. Do not think you have it all figured out. None of us do.

Ever since I first heard/read Mr. DeMar, I've had to re-examine some things. This is a good thing. Growing, though it can be painful, is a positive in my book. I'm still learning and growing through him, and others. Of course, I am examining Scripture and praying for better discernment. Thanks for giving me something to examine and think about.

It’s been about 10 years now, like most Christians, all I was ever aware of was Dispensationalism and had no idea there was a different view. But I remember listening to Apologia Radio one morning and they had a guest on named Kenneth Gentry. What she shared on the book of Revelation completely blew my mind. I tried to wrestle with it but the moment he began presenting a plethora of historical facts it made the Bible make a lot more sense to me, especially regarding passages that were so confusing. From that moment, I discovered Gary DeMar, Greg Bahnsen, Douglas Wilson, RC Sproul, and others and I have been on this journey to really understand Eschatology. Over those 10 years I have have begun writing my own Bible Studies and posting them on my Wordpress and to this day have a 13 Part Series on Matthew 24 and recently begun writing a series on the book of Revelation (6 parts up and working on 7 to complete Revelation 1). Thank you for conversations like this, this is a truth that must be known and more Christians need to be aware of.

Awesome interview & discussion! I've totally changed my understanding of Eschatology in the past 3yrs, after a lifetime of just going along with what I'd inherited from my parents. I have yet to find another post-mil believer in my area, but can't wait until I do. RNot sure what algorithm brought me to your channel, but I'm really enjoying it!

This was great Richard. I’m going to listen to the Q & A now. I want to say I remember RC Sproul taught in his series on eschatology that he disagreed with Dr MacArthur respectfully but the church being raptured by Jesus in the air, leaving then coming back later is two second comings and you can’t get around that. He also described this in actuality a description of the roman citizens going out to meet their conquering army and come back with them all together in triumph which was the tradition of Rome at the time. This is the correct metaphor for meeting Jesus in the air and coming immediately in triumph. There is no place for leaving then waiting a thousand years and then coming back. Two more things, I never understood why there would be a temple with sacrifices during the millennium and God would be okay with that if Jesus’s death and resurrection fulfilled the sacrificial system. With the destruction of the temple in AD 70 the records were lost so no one knows who would be a Levite to restart the priesthood for sacrificing again. And, the trumpet only sounds once by the way not twice, once for the rapture and once for the end of days doesn’t fit. I love MacArthur but never could get on board with this rapture stuff. Peace 🙏

That's an excellent point regarding the temple sacrifices. A 3rd temple is a total misunderstanding. But when you think that Revelation of Jesus Christ was written after 70 AD and not before then since it speaks of a temple you must embrace a 3rd. But Jesus tells of it's destruction and speaks of it with derision..he knows the temple was just a temporary thing. The images and shadows are all pointing to Jesus. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever to go back. Heck that's what the book of Hebrews is all about!!!

@@Richardcontramundum I agree with you those things were a shadow, Christ is the fulfillment. Aren’t we referred to now as the temple that the Holy Spirit now dwells in? Gary got me wanting to look into this more. I just watched RC’s video several weeks ago and consider myself “Amil” after watching it. Before that I was “whatever” lol. Something I don’t understand about the postmil view is how and where the Bible says things are going to get better before Jesus coming ultimately at the last day? It sounded like Gary takes that view and I heard James White say he does in his recent video disputing the Cross Politic mess blaming transgenderism on Baptist theology. I think I should get Gary’s book and try to learn about it more. Thanks again I was really edified by this video and hope you can have other people on your interview channel to give another view. While Gary claims that all we need is the Bible to understand its meaning, he cannot prove preterism without using Josephus. So, when does one use sol scriptoria or is that possible? His argument of things not in the Bible contradicts his reliance on a turncoat nonbeliever named Josephus. How is this not double talk?

DeMar did a great job presenting his views. I couldn't help but be distracted by some of your reactions. Going out of your way to say that one of the the other perspectives "strong arms" folks into believing what they believe before later laughing and making fun of folks who have other views... Hmmm. I will clearly state that I do not know which perspective on the "end times" is correct, but I do know that Jesus said they would know us by our Love. I think focusing on 1. Love God, and 2. Love your neighbor adds far more value and spreads more seeds for future reaping than publicly geeking out about how wrong other Christians are about their views on this one difficult book. I tend to dismiss any views not presented in love, but in judgement. But DeMar did well laying out his views.

I used to be a dispensationlist hard-core. Oneday, I sat down to study read and re-read. Said lord, I need the truth, and ever since then, I wonder how it is possible so many pastors have gotten this wrong.

Sadly there are many things that Christians get wrong because they believe other people who've studied it and they trust them and their convictions, but sadly the convictions don't often come from the Bible but other things supporting the Bible or as they think support the bible. Were still many take modern translations and interpretations and definitions and inject them into the scripture and not read what's going on in the first century or the ancient Israel and understand what words mean in that time Thanks for the comment

He makes a lot of sense. For those who are still waiting for fullfillment of scripture within all these areas are always suseptable and fall pry to false preachings, false signs and sensationalism within these areas. Those who believe is prophets for today, also fall pry to these falsse prophets and their false message and filled with fear. Funny how most of Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled within a few hundred years in reference to Israel. Today, it has been more than 2000 yrs, which should tell you that something is wrong since nothing in reference to Israel has never taken that long. From the Book of Daniels to the fulfillment of Christ was 489 yrs and 40 yrs from that point to the destruction of the temple in 70 AD from the time Christ prophecied it. the silent period from the last book of the old testament to the new Testament was 400 yrs and most events with Israel was within those that time period. If it has been more than 2000 yrs already, then something is wrong- and the reasom is that it was already fulfilled. Even the long time lapse from Christ to now tells you something is not right. You waiting for something to happen that already happened.

Strictly a technical (production) observation: Gary’s lighting makes him look like a sitcom ghost!

Hal Linsey was my guru in the 1970’s. When i was a dispensationalist, one of the first confusing “ah-ha” moments came when my pastor kept referring to the newspaper to prove fulfillment of biblical prophecy playing out in our time. But then i noticed that the same verses or passages were being used for different topics and newspaper articles in an attempt to prove prophecy. Shouldn’t it be more specific? How can so many different news articles be placed on top of the same verses? Which one is true? That began my questioning and eventual exodus from dispensational futurism.

1 thess. 4----is about the resurrection/no one is out of here before the dead in christ--resurrection/rapture

If you get a chance, please press Gary on the bodily resurrection. He seems to dismiss it in this interview. The key text I would question him on is the totality of resurrection doctrine found in 1 Cor 15. Thanks for this Contra Talk; it was quite comprehensive, yet not excessively lengthy.

LoL. Some what. I was already skeptical when I was neck deep in pre mill futurist MacArthur end times doctrine when we were in California. My biggest question and concern was that of Israel. It was hard not to get two ways of salvation out of the standard Disspensalist view.

Bottom line is we must know the scriptures and the author of those scriptures so we can live faithful in this life, being fitted for the next and eternity with our Maker

Demar doesn’t understand there’s different flavors of dispensation and uses the wrong one to dismiss dispensation. Without understanding dispensation and Paul’s mystery revelation you can’t make sense of today and end times. Completely confused that Paul says it wasn’t known, and hid in God since the beginning and uses Peter who says this was what Joel prophecy end times by mixing the two. Prophecy along with Israel and the law ended in acts 7 and started to diminished all the way around Acts 15. Since Paul entered and today we living mystery and not prophecy

Gary: Ezekiel 37 is a symbolic depiction of the return of the Jews from the exile that we see take place in Ezra and Nehemiah. Chapters 38 and 39 describe in prophetic form the attempt by Haman in the book of Esther to eradicate the Jews and capture their wealth (Esther 3). See Ezra 1:4 and compare it to Ezek. 38:13. See my book and outline attached. I explain all of this in my book The Gog and Magog End-Time Alliance.

In a church of 700 I am the only one I know of with these same convictions what am I supposed to do

Revelation is a book of the revelation or more commonly the coming / appearing of Messiah. Rev 1:2 is not saying it is “soon” to happen but instead when the time comes, when the events in Daniel and Revelation begin, it will speedily happen. In other words when the end times begin according to Daniel’s prophecy, the things revealed to John will rapidly happen! This is not referencing a time period close in proximity to John’s day! Berean Literal Bible “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants what things it behooves to take place in quickness. And He signified it through having sent His angel to His servant, John…” Secondly, John saying our the last hour, as though judgement and wrath are coming in that generation. Well I have news for ALL mortal men - judgement is coming in your generation because you only have one life to live, on generation, to be prepared and sanctified to meet your maker! We ALL better realize, Yeshua the Messiah’s revelation to us as individuals will 100% be after our last breath on earth! In other words for ALL humanity “it is the last hour”!

In order to explain away the temple in Revelation 11:1-2, some late-date commentators simply question the inspired authorship of those two verses: _"These two verses, xi. 1-2, are a fragment, as Wellhausen was the first to recognise, of an oracle written before 70 A.D. by one of the prophets of the Zealot party in Jerusalem, who predicted that, though the outer court of the Temple and the city would fall, the Temple and the Zealots who had taken up their abode within it would be preserved from destruction. These verses, therefore, originally dealt partly with contemporary history and partly with eschatological forecasts. But _*_in their present context they cannot possibly be interpreted by the Contemporary Historical Method."_*_ [R. H. Charles, "A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Revelation of St. John Vol I." Charles Scribner's Sons, 1920, p.,274]_ *_"It is unlikely that the author of Revelation in its present form could have composed 11:1-2. There is no positive interest in the historical, earthly temple elsewhere in the book._*_ In __3:12__ the phrase "the temple of God" is used in quite a different way. Christ promises that he will make the one who conquers a pillar in the temple of God. This language implies that the author of Revelation conceives of the Christian community, either in his own time or in the new age, as the real or new temple of God. Assuming that one is incorrect about an interpretation of Jesus's soon return , because of many unrealized wrong predictions is silly. As a believer, you know at some point He will return. At some point someone is going to be right!!! The attitude of dismissing theories of when this will happen for that reason is nonsensical. Dismissing it because you think the theory is wrong because of it not matching scripture in your opinion is fine. dismissing it because of past failed guesses is dumb. We are supposed to be looking and guessing and waiting so that when the time does arrive we won't be taken like a thief in the night. It's better to be in error, than to be not looking at all because you feel it's unlikely to be seen because of past failures. At some point the knowing of the season of His return will be correct. IMO the new testament has 2 prophetic time periods of the future for His children. The" time is near" prophecy that concerns the destiny of the Jewish practice and faith. That time was very near!! total disappearance of that temple and practice of worship. The other future prophecies , mostly in revelation concerns His believing children, both Jew and gentile. This is a many centuries unfolding of events, written in symbolic pictures to represent the main events during this time, until His return bodily. DeMars believes it all has been fulfilled already with the destruction of the final physical temple and that there is no prophecy at all for His believing Christians then or in the future. What nonsense. Our prophecy begins when John writes about the woman in the stars who gives birth with the dragon waiting to devour the child. He is taken up to heaven and the woman goes into the wilderness to be chased and persecuted ( devils water) by Satan. This Satan is the pharisees, that Jesus called Satan. They wanted to wipe out this new faith that was converting many Jews. Then Rome joined in. She is protected allowed to not be destroyed by God. Revelation continues from there. This is prophecy for after the destruction of the temple. Can you imagine God, who always used His written word by the prophets and Moses to provide the Israelites with instruction and faith would neglect prophecy and the opportunity for us to be invested in His Word by not providing any guidance for us at all? really? He sends His Son, who dies for this gospel and new covenant and then nothing for His followers but a history book with no info or guidance about our future? I get the feeling this guy has no belief in a future resurrection for mankind at all. I want to point out another fact here. If John wrote revelation in 90ish AD. like many scholars believe. And if that revelation is all about what happened with the temple destruction and nothing more, then in his mind this revelation written by John is hardly impressive as a prophecy. It's simply a already known event that John is writing about in symbolic form. why the symbols then? Why not just write a very understandable history of events. How silly. we do have written, already known history at the time it was written, history in the Bible. Those are the books of Joshua and and the books of the Kings and Chronicles. They are written in normal language and is simply retelling history without symbolic language of the prophets. This very clearly written history has alot of lessons for us and are very instructive in our study of scripture. Revelation is not written in this same straight forward language. It is written in symbolic language written like the prophets did in the OT. no folks, this is prophetic language, not language of written already realized history telling. It was written in 90 AD. After the destruction of the temple. I think Daniel prophecied alot about that. It's possible that Daniel's prophecies are sometimes put inappropriately in our yet future, but Revelation is not. That is most definitely describing future events starting quickly after the destruction of the temple and still continuing from there. Revelation is a prophetic historical account if our future. some of it is in our past now. There is obviously still fulfillment yet to be realized. We should be studying it , regardless of obvious mis readings and guesses of His return. We should keep on and not just shrug our shoulders which seems to be the attitude of this guy. In the last chapter of revelation, Jesus reminds us to read revelation and study it. He offers a blessing for those who do and warning to anyone who attempts to change it in any way. We can be wrong in our interpretations, but we are to keep looking and keep wondering often. One day, we will see it clearly. It is for us. It has been for all believers in Jesus from the letters to the churches until now. For all Christians living through all time since it was written. each generation can see itself somewhere in that book. It's my belief that every generation of Christians has had there own version of the Mark of the Beast to avoid. Hand and forehead language is a picture of works and faith in. If you do the works of this world Beast...example in our day... tolerance and promotion of tolerance towards perversion like homosexuality and transgender and abortion, you teach this acceptance as normal to your children as a good thing, that is works and a faith not in agreement with the word of God. example from the past... exceptance of idol worship in the church. you bow down to and pray to images of Mary and saints. This was a big part of the Beast system back in those days for Christians. In our day example I have given it is getting close to effecting our ability to buy and sell if we disagree with the teachings of the Beast on these issues. The lamb Beast represents the faith communities that openly support these philosophies of the Beast system. promote them even. The catholic church power of the past did and alot of liberal minded social justice conscious churches of today support our Beast system teachings of right and wrong today. The catholic church power of the past did effect buying selling with thier Beast system. Bible believing Christians were persecuted and were economically punished by the followers of this system. Whole businesses were boycotted and destroyed on orders from thier pope to not do business with these people. land owning aristocrats were threatened with boycott of thier produce if they did not tow the line of the catholic power. If they refused to punish thier serfs that worked thier land for not attending catholic services. If they refused to allow a catholic church on thier property to serve the people, they were destroyed by boycott. This is a buying and selling punishment, even back then. If you took the mark you participated in and did the works of the Beast system. Having it in your hand or forehead just tells us more about why you did these things. in the hand means doing it for finacial reasons alone, with no real belief in the system. in the forehead means that you believe in The philosophy of the church and believe are are doing the will of God while cooperating. I believe it is the same today. There are those who really believe in persecuting those who refuse to except perversions as not a sin Things like transgender and homosexuality and abortion. They really believe you are evil for thinking these things sinful. These have the mark on thier foreheads if they also go so far as to persecute you for these beliefs. you must agree or you will suffer in your ability to buy and sell. we are getting very near to that again.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes Jesus will return one day. But the guess and be wrong is equally silly. What is predicted in Matt 24 and Luke 21 for example was told in AD 30, written around 60, but did not take place until AD 70. It was future for them but last for us. The reason to mock or at minimum not believe in faoled prophecy is just that, they are all failed. The the general ones that are predicted today are about the rapture. Something that has very dubious biblical support. And further we don't need to believe it or guess or even watch because IT ALREADY HAPPENED. Jesus came in judgement in the form of Rome just as God did on the first temple in the form of Babylonian captivity. Look at the parallels between destruction of the first temple and the second. We should be about the Lord's work, amen! But guessing about or waiting for the rapture and reading the news for our biblical theology is just unnecessary at best, and sinful at worse.

For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, UNTIL the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Gentiles, in the main coming to Christ during the Church age, and after that Israel (through tribulation) will also come in. (I am not pre-trib). I hope I can see Gary's face when he is proved wrong.

Unfortunately, evangelicals have self-fulfilling prophecies. This is one reason they loved Trump.

Revelation 12:1 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. John wrote that the moon is under the Woman's feet. Revelation is a series of prophetic visions in parable language, Heaven's language as Jesus taught in Matthew 13. What does the moon represent? Genesis 1:16 "Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also." The moon rules the night, the darkness. The Ruler of the Darkness is satan. The moon represents satan in parable language. What does it mean to have the moon under her feet? Romans 16:20 "And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen." Under her feet means she has satan conquered. Theologians ignore this clue. Yet, it is the defining clue. Neither Israel nor Mary under the Old Covenant when Jesus was born had satan conquered. Therefore, the Woman cannot be Israel or Mary. Luke 10:19 "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Only Jesus and believers have satan conquered. The woman represents the Church, believers, who has satan conquered. Revelation 2:26-27 to the Thyatira Church. "And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations- ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’- as I also have received from My Father;" Not only will Jesus rule the nations but also the overcomers will rule the nations. The woman is the Church giving birth to the overcomers. The overcomers is a major theme throughout the Book. The woman, the Church, goes into the wilderness for 3 1/2 years. The wilderness is a place of trials and testing. The woman is being prepared to be Christ's Bride. We are not told what happens to the woman at the end of the 3 1/2 years. When Jesus returns the saints are with him. The resurrection of the dead, the Christians still alive are changed and taken up, the Judgement Seat of Christ, and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb have to take place before the 2nd Coming.

According to Rev. 1-1-4, this is a revealing, written in signs, specifically to seven churches in Asia, of events that will begin to happen immediately following its writing. You should always ask in interpreting this book how this would this be relevant to those in the seven churches in Asia.

This passage in 1 Thessalonians that you have quoted is not a secret rapture (notice the loud noise), but is at the last day - compared to 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, it's the same event.

Zechariah 12:10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication.
