    One thing I used to do when taking my boat out, and I'm not sure if it's possible here with the way the lot is shaped but, I noticed many of these guys starting to pull out then they start turning to go down another part of the lot. I found if I just pulled out straight it was much easier to bring the boat out without slipping. Growing up in Chicago I also noticed that whenever I got stuck in the snow or ice. straight out is much better than trying to turn, that just creates a bit more resistance and spins the tires quicker.

  • @NBSV1

    @NBSV1

    2 жыл бұрын

    Part of that is also with an open differential going straight helps have both wheels drive better. When you start turning the diff automatically starts slipping and tends to transfer power uneven. So, in low traction it often just makes one wheel spin and you get stuck. Ideally if only 2 wheel drive you want a good limited slip or a locker so you at least can get both wheels driving.

    The problem with long boats and trailers is they are still floating in the rear and it pulls the bow off the stop was it sinks onto the trailer in the rear.

    What am I not understanding. The first boat coming in, has several people on board, if the Cap is inexperienced, why can't 2 of them hop onto pier, one with a bow line, one with stern, and walk-pull the boat in? I don't pretend to know anything at all about this. What am I missing?

    It's not a hp issue, you can not pull a 9k lb boat with a 7k lb truck and be successful. Most problems with trailering a boat come from a tow vehicle that is not up to the task.

    I know you can get pickups with two wheel drive; however, I haven't seen one in my area in close to 30 years. Dealers don't bring them in even in snow country because they don't sell. Is it more common in Florida to buy 2wd trucks?

    Having been in FL now for over 20 years, most of our trucks are 2wd. The only 4x4s are for the folks that want to go off roading. Of course, there are always those folks who want a 4x4 for mall crawling.

    Just cause your vehicle can tow it, doesn't mean you should tow it. If the thing you are towing is heavier than your tow vehicle you can end up in lots of trouble.
