Ok, so I got around to watching Punisher Warzone, and you know what? It wasn't half bad, and I shouldn't have prejudged it based on it's review score. Gore was pretty awesome, Ray Stevenson was a good and more restrained Frank Castle, and Newman as Micro is both absurd but absolutely fitting. I still prefer the 2004 movie, but this one was certainly enjoyable. Shit's all over the Dolph Lundgren one easy.

Oh, little known fact. The Russian fight in 2004 punisher, when Thomas Jane stabbed the Russian. They didn't use a prop knife by accident. He was actually stabbed. The guy who plays the Russian is also the bouncer in the first John Wick movie. Cheers for the video. Loving these. Brings back so much great gaming memories.

Another great video, mate. Always enjoyed this game as a kid, and while it’s definitely flawed it was one of the better tie-in games (and arguably the best Punisher game) around then. Thomas Jane really loved the character, and he even starred in a Punisher fan film, ‘Dirty Laundry’, just because he wanted to keep the character in the public eye when Marvel didn’t seem to care. Also, weird trivia: Steve Blum doesn’t actually voice Bushwacker except for his very last spoken line, the rest was Philip Hayes. Kinda strange but there you go. Also, he doesn’t appear to voice Takagi, either. Although, maybe you were just doing a gag on how Steve Blum appears everywhere and it went straight over my head. In that case, my bad lol. Love your stuff.

@ 16:30 when the car tries to run Frank Castle over, the license plate says “ASM-129” which is a easter egg and reference to Punisher’s first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man. He was hired by The Jackal to kill Spider-Man in this issue.

Now that Ray Stevenson passed away, you really need to go watch that movie, Ray is by far the best punisher out of the four and while I disagree that Dolph Lundgren was the perfect punisher for the time and gave a decent go at it with a more stoic and unapologetic Frank, Ray Stevenson is literally the punisher in both apperance and acting as well as having Microchip as his side kick and jigsaw as the antagonist. It's phenomenal and you need to watch it, I love Thomas Jane and Netflix punisher but Ray Stevenson to me was perfect.

You should most definitely check out punisher war zone. Best depiction of the punisher character, in my opinion, and a great movie with its own style at the same time. Shame it didn’t get more attention or a sequel

I liked the comics, i enjoyed the dolph lungren movie. absolutely loved the fact that biohazard sampled it for their music. thomas jayne was a better puniaher but the kills and comic book feel of warzone made it a more fun movie. Bernthals version of punisher was awesome. The characters been treated well.

Thomas Jane had the best voice for the Punisher, however, the best "body shape" is probably Dolph Lundgrens Punisher from 1989.

I heard in the movie Thomas Jane ended up stabbing Kevin Nash with a real knife in the shoulder instead of a prop retractable one because someone handed him the wrong knife to use for the scene and Nash just kept on doing the scene like the badass professional he is, so that's the take that ended up in the movie. Damn dude.

What I'll always prefer with Tom Jane's Frank Castle/Punisher is how he was way, way more stoic and tactical with his decision-making in terms of combat (only gripe is how little gore/violence the film actually brought to the table)... along with the inclusion of his use of a war journal. He also had enough moments where you get to listen to his internal monologue, especially at the end of the film. The closest Jon Bernthal ever came to this level of straightforwardness was his first appearance in Daredevil, which I'd argue is the better take on the titular character than his own series. Always felt like Jon Bernthal got nerfed in his own show. He never had the chance to set his enemies up or hang them on meat hooks or anything similar there. The one aspect of Ray Stevenson (may he rest in peace) that I'll always prefer over any other live action take thus far was his size, his facial structure, and how his hairstyle mimicked the comics.

Masterpiece from start to finish! The different kills level to level is the real treat. Such a shame we never got a sequel or even a remaster. No shit, I actually bought a 360 on Marketplace during COVID just so I could play this on backwards compatibility. Now that's a super fan! I also agree Thomas Jane is the most definitive Castle on screen. Stevenson, Bernthal and Lundgren just Don't quite have it. Travolta was a fantastic bad guy. 2004/2005 Punisher is the greatest by far. I can only imagine how good Thomas would've been in the Netflix series. His portrayal was a lot more crisp, clean, cold, and calculating. What a joy this game was. Long live Frank Castle!

Honestly idk if you will read this but you should consider releasing a let's play series or live streams the game play as you record the game play for your retrospectives I think your commentary would be awesome to watch over the gameplay and be fun to go through that whole game as you do at the same time and then go back over the retrospective as you do I think that would be sick.

I've seen all three Punisher films, the Netflix series, and one CGI anime starring him and Black Widow. Yeah, Thomas Jane's film was the best. Warzone is worth at least one watch for Jigsaw and gorey R rated moments. As for the game, this is definitely the best Punisher game. Wish it got the open world sequel, but instead we got Saints Row. Doubt Volition would ever make a game like Punisher 2005 now, how are they gonna relate it to paying off your college debt!? Blah. I truly hope Punisher 2005 gets remastered or even a remake/sequel and remove the censorship. Many modern games make Punisher 2005 look tame with their shiny realistic graphics. The comics that inspired both the game and Jane film are worth reading. Can't say the same for current Punisher comics. They messed him up, again.

I adore this game. Played it a lot in my younger days. Also they tried to get Thomas Jane for the Warzone film but he turned it down for being to violent. That aside Warzone is more accurate to the comics then even the Jane film. Bringing in Microchip and Soap as well. If the only thing stopping you from watching Warzone is the lack of Jane then give it a shot. I promise you will not be disappointed.
