I liked that in the 2005 video game, Howard Sain't remaining son, John, became Jigsaw. Great design too, now that's a fucked up face, take notes MCU... and him using the Iron Man armor made him mor of a threat than his father, who was cool, but in the end he was just another thug with a gun. Weirdly, Garth Ennis has never wrote a Punisher story with Jigsaw in it, did he? He'd rather make up his own rogues gallery for Frankie, since he gets to mow them down anyway ('cept for a couple cockroaches like 'Cudda who just won't DIE)

What makes me respect Thomas Jane more is the fact in 2023 there's a video on KZread of him and Bernthal where Jane is giving some gun advice and combat to help Bernthal's version return to Daredevil (2025). And RIP to Ray Stevenson.

Thomas Jane actually visited the comic shop i used to go to when i lived in Tampa. The owner saw him reading punisher comics and asked him not to without realizing that it was him. Thomas Jane apologized and went to the counter with the comics and said he was just researching the role. The owner then realized who he was an was excited that he came into his shop. He paid for the comics, signed an autograph for the owner and left.

Jane had a great look for Castle, and when I think of the Punisher, his version comes to mind. Problem is that studios weren't able to decide if they wanted a dark, gritty melodrama or cornball goofy comic book action, so they kept trying to mix the two. What ended up was two very tonally awkward movies that had some great moments scattered throughout, but weren't consistent enough to appeal to either fanbase.

Great video as always. I thought I knew everything about this movie but this is the first I'd heard of the real reasoning behind the location change. Ultimately, I still love this flick. I liked that Thomas Jane's Punisher wasn't so dark and edgy that he could conceivably fight alongside Tobey Maguire Spider-Man. Always wished that crossover would've happened.

I think thats what makes Thomas Jane's Punisher so much better than Garth Ennis or Jon Bernthal's Punisher imo. He still kills bad guys in ways that almost makes you feel bad for the evil guys, but hes still VERY HUMAN (in emotion and physicality) and not just some invincible terminator. Honestly, when you think about it, this feels EXTREMELY CLOSE to what you would expect from a Max Payne character. Which is funny because the game that came out around the same time was very much a Max Payne style game. And he was in it!

God i love Thomas Jane. Punisher made me a big fan of his. Edits aside it was a regular watch on cable. I even remember his comic book pitch before the days of Kickstarter. Dirty Laundry was such a treat. It debutted at comic con I think and spread on forums and facebook like wild fire as people tried to find leaked recordings and no idea if it was ever going to get an official release. This was when there had never been such a high quality fan film done and it was a legal grey area. Simpler times.

This is my favourite movie. Sadly it wasn’t in cinemas in my country (or, if it was, it wasn’t advertised and I missed it), but when I rented it I loved it.

I loved this movie its like a classic action movie from the 80s to early 90s, going up against kill bill is what hurt the movie.

Arguable one of the worst games Gamemill has published this year. Which is saying a lot given Rise of Kong and Avatar the quest for balance also published by Gamemill came out that same year.

While I love Bernthal's version of the character, Thomas Jane's versuon is still the one that comes to mind when I picture the Punisher. The movie was schlocky, sure, but I still enjoy it all these years later

John Castle is no antihero, despite being the posterboy for the trope. He's really more of an antivillain or villain protagonist. That said, Mr Jane seems to have had the best understanding of the character and portrayed him best from what little I've seen.

I fully agree with my fellow “Blade” fans about Marvel movies. This and “Man on Fire” were the two movies I saw on back to back opening weeks. Had they just ditched the “loveable loser” neighbors, or at least made them less Shakespearian caricatures, it could’ve been the gritty trilogy that paired up with “Blade”.

8:05 Although the stated budget for the 2004 Punisher is $30 million, director Jonathan Hensleigh noted in the commentary track that the actual budget was probably closer to around $10 million. I actually quite like both Punisher and (especially) Punisher: War Zone, but like with all the Fox stuff their production is rife with studio interference over dumb stuff they shouldn't be arguing about. Marvel Studios has major issues, especially post-Endgame with the Disney+ TV show integration, but stuff like "aw gee, does this Punisher guy really have to just shoot everybody?" isn't the sort of thing they need to compromise halfway on.

As a long time Tampa resident, this feels like the ultimate Florida Man film and I will love and cherish it forever. Also there's no topping Thomas Jane as Castle.

I really enjoyed this film. Aside from the weird placement in Tampa and John Travolta's awkward villain, Thomas Jane did a decent job as Frank Castle
