The public toll road with no speed limit

The Nürburgring Nordschleife is the longest permanent racetrack in the world: 21km of unforgiving blind corners and hills, nicknamed "the Green Hell". Oh, and some days, it's also just a public toll road with no speed limit.

Ocassionally some fairly postive braking was required, but it all worked very well. Props to the Germans indeed!

A good thing if you ever try it for real. Nurburgring must be quite challenging to learn (too big, too many turns to memorize). When I raced in karts and I was going to a new track I used a little old game which had a track designer (Revolt) to draw a crude resemblance of the track and, believe me, even being a crude resemblance, when I get there I could be fast from lap 1, only having to feel the grip and make a minor correction or two, but the circuit was already "imprinted" on my brain. Always good to play a simulator before going real.

Not looking it up right now but there are two ways of measuring lap times for those record runs. There is a small straight after "Turn 13" before the "Sabine-Schmitz-Corner" where the old pits used to be placed. Most Auto insurance companies even have clauses that covers this with obvious exceptions like the Nürburgring Nordschleife. For those new to this marvel of human civilization: every year, once a year there's a HUGE race happening with well over 150 cars racing at the same time for 24 hours straight at this track. The English-language broadcast is free to view on KZread. The next Nürburgring 24h is in late May 2022. It's one of the most unique sporting events you'll ever see.

@@MyRegardsToTheDodo at least under my local law in argentina, even if the establishment is privately owned and it's a for profit endeavour, if the public can access it then it's a public establishment. a theme park is privately owned and you have to pay a fee to access it, but it's still a public establishment because the public can access it. you do have a point about the public access being restricted to a few occasions, and I'm just talking out of my ass here: I'm trying to apply my understanding of my own laws to a situation where obviously other laws apply (laws which I haven't read).
