The Psychology of the Demonic w/ Fr. Chad Ripperger | Chris Stefanick Show

And as exorcist Fr. Chad Ripperger tells us this week, the Evil One hates when we stay positive in the face of hardships. When we set our sights on the good, the demons are forced to flee. Fr. Ripperger has seen this happen with the possessed people he has worked with, but it can work for all of us. We should all make positivity a part of our everyday spiritual lives. Join me and find out how to do just that.

I am a Protestant and I have watched all three episodes. I have found it very interesting. Certainly, I can see that by focusing on God and reading Scripture every day has great benefits. However, I have not really considered that entertaining negative thoughts can be a serious cause of demonic attack and can weaken me spiritually. I’m changing that aspect of my life immediately. Lots to consider over these three videos. Thanks.

Have you ever considered converting to Catholicism ? as a Catholic you can enjoy the protection and God’s Grace through the sacraments . I had fallen away from the church in my young adult years but as I matured , I re-evaluated the reasons the Catholic faith presented the word of God and the example of Jesus . what’s unfortunate is church scandals, which I believe happened because Catholic Church and our priests face enormous temptation from Satan, and with their own failings as humans , too many priests succumbed to temptation and committed horrible sins . The destruction of The Catholic Church and our priests is a priority of Satan and his evil minions.

I agree with most of this video. I also think Church Militant has an important apostolate as they uncover serious wrongdoings in the church. As a former undercover police officer and investigator, I would say that their work is courageous, spot-on, and necessary. The unnerving fact is that there are laity and seminarians who have suffered enormously because of corrupt and even, in some cases, diabolical clergy.

That used to happen to me all the time in the past. It got me so aggravated. However, one of the messages from Our Mother says that the devil is full of pride and very impatient, if one insistently pray then the devil will go away. Therefore, I patiently keep on praying the Rosary daily and whenever I can, then, the distraction go away. By the way, the Rosary has two parts- body and soul. The body of the Rosary is the Rosary and the verbal prayer. The soul of the Rosary is the mental contemplation of the prayer.

@@zenuno6936 I think it's more than demonic temptation. I'm not tempted to become preoccupied with troubling thoughts concerning the state of affairs that have adversely affected my life lately. According to the late chief exorcist of Rome, Father Gabriel Amorth, demonic oppression is the result of demonic activity that escalates with " physical attacks, sleep disturbances (including regular nightmares), frequent and severe illnesses, major depression or anxiety, severe financial or employment problems, or relationship troubles." In my case, I've been experiencing much anxiety this past year and sometimes mild forms of depression, and sleep disturbances because of interminable unemployment and financial trouble because of the strict Covid restrictions imposed by our federal and provincial governments in Canada. These thoughts of how the normal course of my life has been disrupted by the pandemic, and even other bits of bad news such as the war in Ukraine, especially pop up with extreme force and captivation while I'm praying the Rosary or visiting the Blessed Sacrament. It's an internal struggle to discard these thoughts and refocus my attention on prayer and meditation. What helps me to overcome these distracting thoughts and the anxiety that's fuelling them is gazing on the crucifix and maintaining an uninterrupted line of vision. Anyway, I'm in no qualified position to rule that demonic oppression is the cause of my mental and emotional state, but it could be.

@@alexanderbrown2717 Alexander, out of curiosity, why do you come onto Catholic forums quoting the King James Bible? Are you trying find the truth from Catholics? Or are you trying to antagonize people? If you have a genuine question such as why do Catholics believe that they have to do works, I'm more than willing to share to help you in your journey towards God. However! If it is to cause mayhem, then you are not doing God's work. I've added some information about work's to help you: Faith without works John 8:51 51 In all truth I tell you, whoever keeps my word will never see death. How do you keep Jesus' word? By doing what he asks of us! James 2:14-26 14 How does it help, my brothers, when someone who has never done a single good act claims to have faith? Will that faith bring salvation? 15 If one of the brothers or one of the sisters is in need of clothes and has not enough food to live on, 16 and one of you says to them, 'I wish you well; keep yourself warm and eat plenty,' without giving them these bare necessities of life, then what good is that? 17 In the same way faith, if good deeds do not go with it, is quite dead. 18 But someone may say: So you have faith and I have good deeds? Show me this faith of yours without deeds, then! It is by my deeds that I will show you my faith. 19 You believe in the one God -- that is creditable enough, but even the demons have the same belief, and they tremble with fear. 20 Fool! Would you not like to know that faith without deeds is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by his deed, because he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 So you can see that his faith was working together with his deeds; his faith became perfect by what he did. 23 In this way the scripture was fulfilled: Abraham put his faith in God, and this was considered as making him upright; and he received the name 'friend of God'. 24 You see now that it is by deeds, and not only by believing, that someone is justified. 25 There is another example of the same kind: Rahab the prostitute, was she not justified by her deeds because she welcomed the messengers and showed them a different way to leave? 26 As a body without a spirit is dead, so is faith without deeds. Matthew 25:42-46 (faith without works) 42 For I was hungry and you never gave me food, I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, lacking clothes and you never clothed me, sick and in prison and you never visited me." 44 Then it will be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lacking clothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?" 45 Then he will answer, "In truth I tell you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me." 46 And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the upright to eternal life.' Romans 2:7 (Proof of the need for works) 7 For those who aimed for glory and honour and immortality by persevering in doing good, there will be eternal life; Matthew 7:21 21 'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven. Matthew 25: 34-40 34 Then the King will say to those on his right hand, "Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take as your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you made me welcome, 36 lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me." 37 Then the upright will say to him in reply, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome, lacking clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we find you sick or in prison and go to see you?" 40 And the King will answer, "In truth I tell you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me." You can lose your salvation by: being unrepentant & harbouring unforgiveness. An unrepentant person knows that he or she has sinned and refuses to ask God for forgiveness or turn away from the sin. The unrepentant show no remorse for their wrongdoing and don’t feel the need to change. Unrepentance is the sin of willfully remaining sinful. Matthew 6: 14 if you forgive others their failings, your heavenly Father will forgive you yours; Matthew 6:15 but if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failings either. Matthew 7:21 'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven. Matthew 7:24 Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock. Mark 11:25 And when you stand in prayer, forgive whatever you have against anybody, so your Father in heaven may forgive your failings too.' Exodus 32:33, Yahweh said to Moses, 'Those who have sinned against me are the ones I shall blot out of my book. Hebrews 12: 14 Seek peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one can ever see the Lord. John 15: 6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a branch -- and withers; these branches are collected and thrown on the fire and are burnt. 1 John 4:20 Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brother whom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen. You can lose your salvation (2 Peter 2:20-22) 20 and anyone who has escaped the pollution of the world by coming to know our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and who then allows himself to be entangled and mastered by it a second time, ends up by being worse than he was before. 21 It would have been better for them never to have learnt the way of uprightness, than to learn it and then desert the holy commandment that was entrusted to them. 22 What they have done is exactly as the proverb rightly says: The dog goes back to its vomit and: As soon as the sow has been washed, it wallows in the mud. Ezekiel 18:24-26 24 'But if the upright abandons uprightness and does wrong by copying all the loathsome practices of the wicked, is he to live? All his upright actions will be forgotten from then on; for the infidelity of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, he will most certainly die. 25 'Now, you say, "What the Lord does is unjust." Now listen, House of Israel: is what I do unjust? Is it not what you do that is unjust? 26 When the upright abandons uprightness and does wrong and dies, he dies because of the wrong which he himself has done. Hebrews 10: 26 26 If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them. Romans 11: 22 22 Remember God's severity as well as his goodness: his severity to those who fell, and his goodness to you as long as you persevere in it; if not, you too will be cut off.

As a practicing Catholic I have been left perplexed with the liberalism of the post Vatican ll church. As a result, I have become increasingly critical of the Pope and many cardinals, bishops and priests. Fr. Rippenger helped me realize this criticism has darkened my heart to the joys Christ desires for us to share through His church in worship of Him. The demons don't care why or how you attack the church but only that you do. That just blew me away. So blessed to have listened to Fr. Rippenger put things in spiritual perspective.

It's not easy dealing with these people. If I were to guess, you encountered the question "Why" (would someone do/say). It's their nature. I was just telling my wife this morning how many times I encountered unsolicited negative "observations" from a certain group of people that I used to be extremely familiar with. I weathered it all, and came out of it stronger. Now I do exactly what Fr. Rippenger suggests, counter with Positive Perspective. First you must understand, they plant the seeds of doubt and negativity everywhere they can. That seemingly innocuous comment, the one that seems out of place, is aimed at those who are in a weakened state, to sow doubt and self hatred. It drives them nuts when you counter them and take away their power. All that said, there is NO greater way to banish these people than to do it in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It has never failed me when I command the evil spirit to get behind, be gone, and never return. His name alone will silence them, when used with the authority granted you by Jesus. Keep the Faith.

I go in there and try to figure out what's wrong and she said it was her shoe. Who screams several times over a house slipper coming off? Anyways, she screams so much and I mean literal screaming. I fairly resilient, but listening to someone scream and curse so much does make me anxious on a physiological level. I think she's in a lot of spiritual pain, but she only has the vocabulary to explain it in terms of physical pain. Anyways, it's frustrating and my nerves are slightly shot by the time I leave.

I have never prayed to Mary or a saint. As C S Lewis said, "If we can pray directly to Christ, why would we ever pray to a saint?" Good point, still, there is something to identifying with, coming to a greater appreciation of, and appreciating those who have gone before us and are closer to God than we are. Fr. Ripperger is someone I see in this light. I am sometimes tempted to become a Catholic.

Praying to saints is just asking our brothers and sisters to support us in our need before the throne of God.

The problem with not focusing on what is wrong with the church and calling it "demonic " to notice the errors and to point it out to others ( a spiritual work of mercy) is that we now have a whole few generations who do not know our faith. Those who are pointing out that the charismatic prayer service is not Catholic, are actually performing a spiritual work of mercy. It's not "negative" to know the difference between orthodox traditional Catholicism and what passes a "catholic" today. I agree there should be kindness and charity, but please, that doesn't mean embracing error that will ultimately lead us to hell.

This is not to say that those who participate are not genuinely pursuing holiness, it's just that it lends itself to demonic activity. And it is not Catholic. It stems from a very protestant type of spirituality. There's a Meaning of Catholic show that talks about this. I attended a daily Mass (before finding the TLM) which was a charismatic service and I was quite shocked and disturbed by what happened during the "mass". Definitely not Catholic.

My dad said about Watergate years ago, "Watergate, Watergate, Watergate. I'm so sick of hearing about Watergate! You know that is the devil's way of keeping you from knowing what's really going on." Surely, Row vs. Wade was about to pass. The devil throws up smoke screens.

I believe my angel brought me here to listen and learn. I struggle with distraction about negative things and even during my prayer time. Whenever I start praying I noticed that my mind becomes ike television with tons of advertisement that I see myself out of focus. Thank you, Father Ripperger for this talk. "KEEP FOCUSING ON GOD".

WoW. Now we can see why young children are being targeted by evil. If you can get parents to be abusive, neglectful, or lack of affection or protection, you’re going to get children who are emotionally destroyed. . Or the negativity on TV and media, bad friends, etc..
