Happy Sunday, Friends! Thanks so much for your patience with this weekend’s upload! I hope you enjoy 💛
🦌 so glad you're pleased with your cardigan but it's like the end of an era 😂

I know, right?? It's been with me this whole time 🥺
Nora, I’m so impressed by you! The fact that you’ve been knitting for only a year and all the things you’ve challenged yourself with and achieved is amazing! I’ve been knitting for nearly fifty years and haven’t done half the things you have 😞 Your drawbore (didn’t know the name of this until your video, so, thank you!) analogy for your button placement is perfect!

Thank you so much!! I can only hope that seeing someone new to the craft trying these more "advanced" techniques will help you feel like you have the ability to do it too!! But I also recognize the fact that trying so many new things all of the time doesn't exactly make for the most relaxing hobby, and it is SO OKAY for knitting to be just that for you!!

@@akaNoraKnitsI was inspired by you to try the double knit button band on my daughter’s vest. So, thank you!! Also, I found the video for buttonholes without cutting the yarn: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c32J1rGGqNOpl8o.html - not difficult, but I did make a couple of small mistakes that I decided not to go back and fix - thank you for that too (*your little tag line about mistakes making it handmade)
Wonderful video today! Your detailed description of the button placements are a great addition. You cover so many great information bits on your projects and how to wear them! It is so fantastic to see you each week!

I'm so glad that was helpful!! Thanks so much for being here 🥰
Nora, I had to pause your video and immediately fix the bottom button on the cardigan I was wearing using the placement method you were talking about. Actually managed to fix something that had been bugging me since I finished the cardigan! So thankyou! Love your cardigan and your mods. This pattern has been on my to-do list for awhile, after seeing yours I'm determined to get to it soon! Love your button band, so polished. Will be copying 😅

🦌 I never miss an episode. Your laugh, smile, and excitement always brighten my day. For a long-term mindless knit option, I want to suggest Purl Soho's half and half triangles wrap. It's one of those no deadline, cozy, versatile items. The Linen Quill is a dream to work with, and how many ways it can be styled makes it special.

Thank you so much!! I've heard so many great things about that pattern--I might just have to give it a try! Thanks for the suggestion! 🦌
🦌 oh my gosh… I remember cracking up watching the antler button story… thank you😂

It makes all the difference! 🦌
[deer emoji] The buttons just melt into the sweater -- they're both understated and spectacular. Dumb buttons will wreck a gorgeous sweater; I just bought a $380 coat and changed the buttons. You could've spent twice as much and they still would've been worth it.
@akaNoraKnits

🦌 Thank you!!! That's exactly what I was going for! I couldn't agree more. I think they can really make or break a project and I would do the exact same thing if I bought a coat that didn't have the right buttons for me. Now that I have the garment finished, I don't regret a thing!!
Oh Nora. Miss Korshavn is divine. She is so pretty. The montage was great. Also, i dont think there should be ANY shame in those 182 days. I admire the time & care spent on the details. The antler 🫎 story never fails. It will forever be relatible & funny. Dads sweather looks great. I love the ribbed pattern in the body of it. The Ciclamen sweather is looking cool. Love that ribbed detail running along the underarm. Thank for curating these videos. Take care, Anna
🦌Those buttons were worth every cent!

🦌I'm so happy that you are loving your Korshavn. I have been knitting for several years but I have only made hats, socks, scarves, but once I found you I decided that it can't be that scary so I am making my own Korshavn. I haven't knit a cardigan, and I am knitting it with DK yarn and mohair, so this is a lot of new things. Thanks for sharing with us, this made me brave enough to give it a try. I like your button band but I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there.

I love that you stuck out that explanation until you were able to find your words to fully explain it to us!! Who knew that woodworking and knitting could so beautifully intersect. I feel like this opens up a whole new world of understanding our knitting.

I literally think in pictures so I am always so determined to find the words to explain the cool things in my head! Hahaha...I could go on and on and on about the many ways that alllll of my hobbies intersect and how wonderful it is to use one hobby to better understand another! I strongly encourage you to think of ways that could apply in life! It's a fun game of perspective!!

Congrats of finishing the fantastic cardigan! I attended a virtual knitting summit last weekend which has resulted in joining a “simple” sweater KAL starting Monday. Eeep! I’m an experienced crocheter who literally started knitting last week, but I keep thinking “look what Nora did her first year of knitting… just do it!” I’m hooked. Thanks for the inspiration! 🎉

Love that you persevered and finished your Korshavn cardigan and you referenced a drawbore to explain your button placement. Great job sticking with it 🦌You've inspired me to get on finishing 2 cardigans I've had on my needles for WAY longer than they should have been.
Half a year is fast. I have sweaters that are YEARS old and yes, still working on them.

I remember a bead shop I loved in Laguna Beach when I was growing up -- it's one of the first places I went alone when I got my first driver's license. That sparkling coast drive! They had fantastic buttons, and I had forgotten. Just checked: the store is still there!! It's 50 years later, and will be a sweet 45-minute road trip for me next weekend. *I can't thank you enough for your comment!*

🦌 okay, now I need to knit a Korshavn! It's gorgeous, especially with the double-knit button band. I've been knitting for over 50yrs, and consider myself an adventurous knitter, but I've never tried double-knitting!

🦌 I couldn’t recommend it more! There’s a whole family of Korshavn designs too! I was terrified to start the doubl knit button bad, but I wound up LOVING that process. Tedious enough to take my time and keep coming back to it, but also mindless enough to do while watching TV! So fun!
🦌🦌🦌love the Cardigan with the buttons !

The colors of that Ciclamen are absolutely gorgeous! I wish that yarn didn't have so much acrylic. I live in Texas and acrylic sweaters are generally just too warm. But I may have to go check it out because that color is so pretty. Looks fantastic on you! I can't believe how far you've progressed since just last week.
@akaNoraKnits

Right??? I am with you! I was hoping that the cotton acrylic makeup wouldn’t mean that the fibers blown into the yarn are all acrylic, but it is just so soft and so pretty! I’ll try to keep y’all posted on how it wears and how toasty it really gets while wearing it
🦌 Been here from the beginning. I enjoy seeing what you're doing. ❤

All your knits look so great. I really like the double knit button band on your cardi 🦌
🦌The button story is one of my favorites and they look amazing on the cardigan! I also enjoyed the explanation of button placement and actually found it helpful, so thank you. 🙂 Don't ever feel bad about store bought clothes (the Christmas pj's). I often start feeling like I need to hand make everything for my family and then when I can't fit it all into my schedule, I feel like I have failed. In reality though, my expectations of my ability and time tend to be extremely unrealistic in that area. I have to remind myself of this often and almost talk myself into pulling the trigger on store bought items. But it's always a big stress relief when I do.

Thank you so much!! 🥰🦌 I so appreciate you sharing your perspective on the manner. I have such a bad habit of telling myself I have time to make the things that I want to and then getting disappointed when that just doesn't happen. I often forget that my hobbies tend to go through their own seasons and it's hard for me to plan so far out, but I am trying to shift my thinking. It's good to know I'm not the only one!
I recently purchased a few Blossom Cakes in Cabana to knit a throw-on oversized cardi for around the house! I thought it would be nice and soft without being too warm like wool is, better for indoor spring/fall temps. Also, your Korshavn is absolutely incredible, I had to add the pattern to my Ravelry queue
🦌 It turned out beautiful!

Gorgeous cardi Nora! 🦌will keep watching 😉
It was so freaky to see my Korshavn at 03:05 👀 You can see I also did a modified band. Mine was just a 1x1 rib but on smaller needles, so kind of looks like a double-knit. And I'm sooo glad I modified it, it looks much more "finished" this way. I think I love yours more, I might need to make another one in a neutral yarn now 😍

I'm literally knitting with Fisherman's Wool in Oatmeal as I'm watching this video! I'm making the Fisherquine Pullover and I'm OBSESSED with every stitch of it. The pattern is beautifully written and the yarn is cabling so perfectly. I'm just having a blast and can't wait to wear this when it's finished. (I actually bought a sweater's quantity of this yarn in 2 other colors before I was finished with he yoke of this sweater!)
