I am Italian and I immediately apologize for my English. I discovered The Professor a few months ago and I'm very sorry for his infancy. I immediately became very fond of him and I have to thank him. I've been playing Magic the gathering since 2005 and had lost the passion a bit. Thanks to his videos, his charisma and his friendliness I went back to loving the game and interpreting it in another way, his way: playing and having fun together. I never understood why it was so fun until my friend hooked me up with a blue, white and green deck, explained every card and how it was used and walked me through SEVERAL games. lol. But to me now it’s one of the greatest games ever created. That’s just my take though.

I haven't played played since urzas block, 98ish Era, but watched the Post Malone Game Knights episode and basically shit my face off. The game is meth chess, and it's fucking incredible.

Be this man's friend, Rick! I can see the genuine bond betwixt you two.

I didn't know about this guy but this was the most enjoyable thing i've seen. I always enjoy Ricks openness and how he has to explain his behavior to the guest. I get second hand anxiety watching stuff sometimes and when people are open about how they feel and try to clear up things in advance it always helps me, as dumb as all that sounds

"I'm still worthless at the fireworks, but its a [much better feeling]" hit me really hard. I'm just standing here with my headphones on, making eggs, listen to some MTG talk, and now I'm crying because nothing ever sounded so accurate before now.

I'm not even into Magic but this episode was just so relatable.

Dude five minutes in (on Spotify) I already love this dude. He's so vulnerable and honest just like you. That missed recording story, where his mic was turned off was so heart breaking, and real. Thanks for continuing to make such a good podcast, Rick.

Not a disingenuous bone in the Prof's body! Can't think of a single reviewer in any industry or topic with more integrity.

20mins in and im already so happy the professor and rick got together dude, love them.

Honestly, watching this has made me much more interested in learning about Magic :)

Do it! Id start with card kingdoms starter decks, and then I'd check out pauper if I were you, let's you play a competitive format for not a lot of money. If you like the environment and want to "invest" you should check out modern for a fast paced competitive environment. If you're more into it for the social aspect, playing Commander could be up your alley too.

this started out as such a weird uncomfortable interview. but it was awesome because it shows the real humans. with real human thoughts and insecurities. turns out it is a beautiful thing seeing people be people and not fake. I'll also add I don't know who Rick glassman is I came here for prof. but I'll be back to listen to more.

This is the strangest crossover of my interests.

This was fucking awesome!!! The Professor is such a good sport. Love how honest and upfront you both were with the behavioral/mental tendencies. Very refreshing and totally natural. Perhaps the best episode you've ever done, but hey, I can't talk to people and my mom told me the Black Lotus at $400 in the mid 90s was absurdly priced. Could be biased.

Prof. You said: "Thank you for sticking with me, I *will* make it up to you" You said it because you meant it; all the way thru down to your core. Sticking with you is not our punishment. It is not an investment that we hope to see pay off. We love you. That is why we are here. If you don't let yourself feel that, this was all a waste of your time and ours. Don't just SAY you feel it, then apologize and say you're working hard. JUST feel it. JUST. FEEL. IT.

Never heard of MTG before. No idea at all about it. Listened to every TYSO podcast ever. This may be one of the most feel good episodes Rick's done. Hosted and navigated perfectly, found the right moments and pulled back at the right times to keep the energy and flow just right and knowing that it didn't need to be addressed as openly as he would usually. Amazing hour from Rick and The Professor.

This was a total flashback to 94' in eighth grade, listening to my friends talk about this weird game while I sit there high and enjoy the vibe ... nice to be back,if only for a moment. Well done.

This episode was awesome. Magic the Gathering isn't my cup of tea, but I enjoy watching other people incredibly passionate about something geek out. Whether it be about turtles, plastic forks, avocados, bees, collectors cards, etc. The Professor has a great sense of humor as niche as his hobby may be. You definitely seemed more at home interviewing him than some of your big celeb guests.

This episode is AMAZING. Listened to it once and watched it twice. I literally just got back into MTG over the pandemic and discovered The Professor. You both being so honest and open is huge. I related to so many stories. Please have him back on! 😁

It is not the perfection we need or will ever get but rather your pursuit of it for the sake of your viewers and the journey in its documented form that they will continuously appreciate, its your obvious spirit that people are a fan of and support

57:38 I am really vibing with what he says here, along with his award-winning monologue a minute or two before about how fullfilling his life is now. I enjoy what he said about how he is accomplishing things now rather than just getting by and just existing, and that what he does is "special" to him. I fucking love that, man. That's what it's about. I am trying to find that thing for me. It's awesome seeing how he had that epiphany after the fact about how he at one time felt like he was stuck and never going anywhere else, but really he had only just started.

i love this episode so so much. the passion and authenticity and the open and direct communication. lovely. what a beautiful person the professor is.

I love how Rick is so open and direct about how he may try to steer the conversation in his show. I think normally that stuff isn’t on screen, so it’s cool to see someone just being that way

Of all the people Rick has interviewed and guests he's had on this one is truly my favorite. I love that there are people out there like the Professor that make me feel less alone in the world.

Never too late to pick up the game.. I'm 34 and have been on and off playing the game since 1996. It's one of the best hobbies to have.. play it with your friends and have fun.. although it can get a little competitive for some people. 😀

Thought I wouldn't like this one. This was better than some of your big guests Rick. You were real, able to relate and the understanding between you was palpable. 😊 Vegas dads and now the Professor? Magic has been such a huge part of my life for reason's similar to Prof, it's how I learned alot of my social skills and made friends even into my adulthood. Whenever life's chaos is tossing you around, Magic is truly a game you can escape to and have control (even when you don't) Rick I've grown to love your podcasts because you are funny, creative, and deep with your emotions, and Brian is a beautiful human being and what I consider the Godfather of Magic. Can't believe this video has been out for 3 years and I'm just now finding it. Great stuff!
