The Professor (Magic: The Gathering, Tolarian Community College) on TYSO -

Комедия

Having a podcast allows us to showcase some incredible people, and this week is no different... This week's guest isn’t our typical comedian/entertainer, but he is THE PROFESSOR!… Of Tolarian Community College, which isn’t so much a college and actually a #1 Magic The Gathering KZread channel!
If you aren't too familiar with Magic The Gathering, it doesn't matter because this episode is about so much more than just a trading card game (that being said, during this episode, Rick DOES open a package that contains a very rare, early 90's booster box).
Immediately The professor (aka Brian Lewis) and Rick bond over similar anxieties and being uncomfortable in the world outside their safety net.
Brian recounts his friendless childhood, barking like a dog at school, and being likened to Forest Gump as a teen. Rick connects to Brian's inability to find his tribe and finds a through line in his own life with finding comedy.
Now running a successful KZread with hundreds of thousands of subscribers and a lucrative patron, Brian insists that “The Gathering” remains the most important part of playing the game.
Rick unpacks Brian's career from Teachers assistant to successful KZreadr, his opinions on collectables and how Magic The Gathering ’s rules make it easier to navigate than this complicated world.
This is the episode for anyone who didn’t fit in at school or is still looking for their community… he goes to show that everyone can find their people and become VERY successful in doing so.
Oh and of course this weeks sponsors! Supporting them supports the podcast and really helps us create content.

I am Italian and I immediately apologize for my English. I discovered The Professor a few months ago and I'm very sorry for his infancy. I immediately became very fond of him and I have to thank him. I've been playing Magic the gathering since 2005 and had lost the passion a bit. Thanks to his videos, his charisma and his friendliness I went back to loving the game and interpreting it in another way, his way: playing and having fun together. Thank you Professor for your videos. Thank you for everything from a huge Italian fan of yours.

Prof. You said: "Thank you for sticking with me, I *will* make it up to you" You said it because you meant it; all the way thru down to your core. Sticking with you is not our punishment. It is not an investment that we hope to see pay off. We love you. That is why we are here. If you don't let yourself feel that, this was all a waste of your time and ours. Don't just SAY you feel it, then apologize and say you're working hard. JUST feel it. JUST. FEEL. IT.

I enjoy what he said about how he is accomplishing things now rather than just getting by and just existing, and that what he does is "special" to him. I fucking love that, man. That's what it's about. I am trying to find that thing for me. This was so good! I love seeing you in these different environments, not just with comedians, showing sides which i feel even more relatable to.

This is one of the dorkiest conversations I've heard, I love it, and I feel like I've had this sort of conversation many times. Great interview, thanks to the Prof for bringing me in!

Hey professor!! Great episode! I know nothing at all about Magic but at 37 years old now, I may try to learn. You gained another subscriber and can’t wait to check out your content. Thanks Rick and Professor

I started playing at 28 and it has brought me so much joy, not least of which being a ton of new friends. If you dont mind going digital, you may want to check out mtg: Arena. It's free and is a great way to learn to play.

I didn't learn it until I was 26 or so, give it a shot! Agreed on trying out Arena, at the least to learn the game.

Never too late to pick up the game.. I'm 34 and have been on and off playing the game since 1996. It's one of the best hobbies to have.. play it with your friends and have fun.. although it can get a little competitive for some people. 😀

Brian + Rick is a match made in heaven! These dudes would fit in perfectly with my group of friends. Just a big bunch of awkward nerds, passionate about our hobbies! Prof is so likeable! Great ep! Rick Glassman should be on Shuffle Up and Play!!!!

I love this so much, Rick. Hearing you and Brian talk about the hurdles of creating content really resonated with me. I struggle so much when I get the 10 out of 10 video in the analytics too but you have really helped me reframe this. I continue to love the podcast and really appreciate you. I hope to catch you in the UK sometime in the future!

Thought I wouldn't like this one. This was better than some of your big guests Rick. You were real, able to relate and the understanding between you was palpable. 😊 Vegas dads and now the Professor? I loved watching someone else being awkward, but embracing it. Like you said Rick, "Nerds are in." 😉

Now, the only way to top this is also inviting Harry Mack and do an episode with him and the Professor. the amount of skillsharing and mindboggling wordplay would sure be awesome to see, and probably pretty wild and wacky, and i think thats why were all on this channel xD

Magic has been such a huge part of my life for reason's similar to Prof, it's how I learned alot of my social skills and made friends even into my adulthood. Whenever life's chaos is tossing you around, Magic is truly a game you can escape to and have control (even when you don't) Rick I've grown to love your podcasts because you are funny, creative, and deep with your emotions, and Brian is a beautiful human being and what I consider the Godfather of Magic. Can't believe this video has been out for 3 years and I'm just now finding it. Great stuff!
