Fuel injected Triumph 2.5PI, as used by the Met Police. Super fast when the injection system is properly set up. Capable in excess of 125mph with manual/overdrive running on five star fuel and 0-60 in just under 8 seconds. 80-100 in direct top simply unmatched by any saloon of the day except an XJ12 or Double Six. All stats given in the magazines get the performance of this model wrong. Twin carb versions were breathlessly fussy above 3,700 rpm on what is an unusually long stroke engine, but with the early pre- '73 PI system, the engine revs smoothly right up to the 5,850 rpm red-line when on-song; usually on a hot, late afternoon in the summer. Best car I ever owned.

That Triumph looked like a waterbed on wheels. 😁

I can't believe those Rostyle wheel trims stayed on the Triumph PI, mine used to come off the Vitesse running over cats eyes!

Mechanical fuel injection in the 2.5 PI. It looks like its 10 years older than the capri. Learned to drive in my dads 2000 TC

Both action-packed car chase sequences featured here were actually from the same episode of The Professionals titled Man Without a Past.

he wasnt around a lot as my DNA providers split when i was a kid but i always remember the cars my Dad used to turn up in in the late 70s and early 80s, capris, cortinas, a triumph, one JAAAG (i think that was the one i sat on his knee in and steered it down the road at the back of the house, stuff Health and Safety lol) , and a volvo (went to pick that up with him) watching the professionals and sweeney always reminds me of them.
@cornishrider
I suspect the tow bar caused the Triumphs rear end bias! Thanks for the HD
@ROCKINGMAN
Exhilerating or what! I thought the way Bodie ran up to the Triumph and flung the door open was very fast. I would have struggled to open the damn door!
