Snyders problem is that he thinks that if a story has to be "gritty" it means ALL characters have to act like that and everything has to be "super dark" its a childs view of what gritty storytelling is, where you just have people looking sad and have everything be grey and drab. Zach Snyder might be one of the most shallow directors out there.

Superman feels distant and his city does not correspond to his action he is not criticized for his big battles. We never see him late we do not feel relatable because superman does not superhero at his level he can stop a robbery say in 3 minutes and immediately, he can go across the world to deliver water to lost Nomads in the desert, help a farmer load his goods in Italy and we saw him extinguish a fire in Japan then come home take a shower call someone and say something like he was out on a run or at the gym. We want to see him overwhelmed like Spiderman. He should be an inspiring character if we see him fight to the limit today, we then see him help a cat from a tree on his way home with blood and torn costume. he is an inspiring character people try to narrow him down that is what kills him he could do something like free people on a burning oil tanker then as Clark help a blind person cross the street. We should see him watch football games with his buddies then go save people come back and continue hanging out like a normal person. Have him struggle with the Man part not the super part he grew up in a healthy home but feels like if people knew he was Clark his parents would have to be relocated to a safe place. His childhood home turned into a museum. As powerful as superman is he should be a UN issue. They should be debates whether to restrict him or let him roam free. his Nationality should be questioned since he can just cross borders without being stopped, we want to see Politics over Him and Countries saying they will retaliate and start a war if superman conducts his business in their territory. They should be consequences for his actions. His appearance should change the landscape of human power. We should see scientists with radical ideas to make superhumans become common and funded all over the world. vigilantes, aliens, supernatural events all start because of him. The consequence for his existence should be that he is a beacon for power, villains and powerful entities should flock to him.

All I can see/hear as a result of the casting choice is WB doubling down on the terrible choice that was Ben Affleck by adding a bit of daywalker glitter to it. I got really excited when I heard it was going to be a detective movie, and then the casting was announced and I just couldn't bring myself to care anymore. And then I saw the penguin casting. And then I saw that the Riddler was a bdsm cliche. Gosh I really wanted to be able to watch and enjoy the Batman after Affleck's punk ass finally stepped aside to allow the role to move forward. They just went in the exact opposite direction, and I just couldn't even do it. Anyway I really do hope it was good and that ppl enjoyed it - I wish I could too. Superman is literally his alter ego. He was raised as clark kent. He didnt always have powers (in most of his stories anyway lol). He got them in his later teen years. by that time, His character, the way he was raised, is already who he is. He literally grew up as a normal dude then his powers kicked in. Him living a normal life as clark kent and working at the daily bugel isnt to hide the fact that he's superman. It's just who he is and what he wants to do. (tho in the golden age, he is a reporter so that he can know when crime happens and has the freedom to go and stop it, [unlike being a police officer with ur supervisor breathing down ur neck lol.] But this doesnt make too much sense since he has super hearing and knows when crime happens anyway. So i guess thats why future stories omit this reasoning)

Imo. It's a difference of representation of the character spirit vs. The Hollywood representation. Spider verse was the closest possible representation to the spirit of the character. In other words, if spiderveree was the first spiderman IP ever, we would absolutely fall in move with the character because we understand what it means to be a superhero. This is where the DCEU is getting superhero movies wrong. This is why spiderman raimi was amazing. The infinity saga was amazing. Hell, even nolan's dark knight gets us to understand this, but more so it answers the question "what are the superhero sacrifices and consequences".

At least that's what I think. Though I do agree that Superman needs to be SuperMAN.

The aesthetic color shift won't strike a nonreader as especially interesting and a lot of them leave it with a "so what?" reaction.

I use to care about newspapers as a child & teenager up into the late 1990's. Than I realize all the news was control Democrats and the slow growing SJW con artists. Superman stands for Truth, Justice, & the American way of life. The current media for since forever never cared for Truth or Justice, only social narrative control and profit. Love the tv series Lois & Clark: the new adventure of Superman, made in the 1990's. It shows what life was like without camera phones & high speed internet. In a few shows after a press conference it shows a few dozen reports bull rushing a small group of payphone to Call In what they just heard. Hell, I wonder way in all of these years with shows like "E.R." and a whole list of crime shows they never did a hard core News Room reporting show to remotely show what Clark Kent & Lois Lane, and Jim Olsen life would be like. Oh yeah, they went after corrupt city politicians and organize crime families. You don't want the younger people to learn how to investigate their own politicians and Big Business. Just follow what the democrat media tells you to believe.

I remember watching an animated Superman movie as a kid that I forgot absolutely everything about except for one moment. Its in a moment that seems absolutely hopeless, like the only option Superman has to save the innocent people is to kill the villain, but still he *refuses* to put a thousand innocent lives above a single guilty one and he goes against all odds and finds a way to save everyone. That is genuinely the only thing I remember about that movie but it still shaped how I think of Superman and Paragon charcters in general and how a story about an immortal demigod with a moral code can still be engaging and fun and emotional and just plain good.

This could’ve been changed and also in Aquaman 1, the whale he is hiding inside of “tells him” that he isn’t being followed. So maybe it has changed but I like New 52s description better.

I think the scene in Kill Bill that you show here actually applies more to Batman in a lot of stories than Superman. It’s a real plot point in a lot of Batman stories that he neglects being Bruce Wayne, regularly puts that section of his life on hold, and considers himself to be Batman more than Bruce. There’s a great scene in Batman: Beyond (the continuation series of Batman: The Animated Series,) where it is shown to the audience that Bruce’s inner voice calls himself “Batman,” not “Bruce”. This is fascinating, because it shows the thing that truly sets Batman apart from other heroes: his attitude and mentality. In the Justice League episode where a nightmare dude is the villain, Batman has a great line where he says, “I have one superpower, I never give up,” which is a little on the nose, but also incredibly accurate. It takes a special type of person to go through everything that Batman goes through and never waver, and it is, (in my opinion,) the best thing about his character. Kill Bill vol. 2 could have nailed this scene for comic readers if they made that switch, Although admittedly it would have confused a lot of people

As it's basically a Batman movie, even being called BATMAN v Superman and not Superman V Batman. And it introduces Batman but BAM there's also Wonder Woman. Then Suicide Squad which mentions the death of Superman so it sinks in. Then Justice League. It would have been at least decent. It gives them 4 movies before JL. He’s not really a superhero though. Sure, he won’t kill you, but he’ll make sure you need help doing things you used to do easily for the rest of your life. Sounds pretty antiheroic to me. That’s a fate worse than death. I’d honestly rather die than lose a good chunk of my bodily functions.

He’s some genius billionaire who constantly spies on and invades the privacy of anyone who might possibly be a “threat,” is a beacon of mental health, trauma and toxic masculinity issues and in general espouses some childish and ill-formed politics and morality. Just because he’s nice to kids and doesn’t Mortal Kombat Fatality every person he fights doesn’t make him a hero.

The Film Watcher, you sure you prefer death? Sure Batman does break a body part sometimes, but this is Batman dude. He knows what he is doing, he breaks the body part that could be fix again, he doesnt break it permanently. But Batman doesn't always do that tho, he just gonna make the bad guys faint and put them in cell. Well, that depends on the crime they committed. Example, if the crime took the lives of many people, You think they don't deserve a beating? All people even the criminals knows Batman doesn't kill. So imagine Batman doesn't do beating either, what's gonna happened? Those criminals are not gonna afraid of him. Even when Batman punch them or beating them, they still doing crimes, so what if Batman doesn't do the beating? The crimes are gonna be worse. Batman is a Hero, he is one of the True Hero. his motivation is to protect the innocent especially children so they don't go through the same thing as him when he was a kid. He despise criminal, that is why he's kinda cold and sometimes brutal to them, but he cares about their life. The criminals sometimes calling Batman for help when they are in danger and Batman helps them ofcourse. Hero is the true Batman character, he saves the lives of people first and deal with crimes after.

@@azreales2451 your looking way to into it. Your taking real world logic and throwing it into a comic book character. He’s a fucking masked vigilante who fights crime in bat costume against lots of super natural villains like a huge waking, talking crocodile. Now Batman gets pretty deep into a lot of the stuff in his comic books but at the end of day it’s a comic book so just enjoy it.
