In season 3 they lost the direction this show was going, when Cobra Kai was only about Johnny and Daniel and theirs students was sooo good, but there's so many unnecessary characters i cant even remember their names

Cobra Kai is no different than awful 90s teen soap dramas like Beverly Hills 90210, badly written and acted, cheesy, repetitive cringe television meant to retain viewership, not tell an interesting, well earned story. Cobra Kai is coasting on the popularity of the KK saga, because if those movies never existed, the show would've been laughed out of existence and cancelled after one season. It's atrocious, but popular because of nostalgia.

Ahh that bothers me so much! I've seen some episodes and it seems like trite stuff, bordering on being light hearted and everyone learns there lesson after one episode. Doesn't feel true to life while it tries a little too hard to be lifelike and grown-up

It should be mainly focused on Cobra Kai in general. I'm sorry but I'll never support that Eagle Fang nonsense as Johnny's Style is still mainly what he learned from Kreese/Cobra Kai. They could have some small Scenes involving Daniel/Miyagi Do but the Series should mainly focus on Cobra Kai as the Karate Kid mainly focused on Daniel/Miyagi Do.

Yeah, I have a few problems with this show. It is diverting from the Johnny story into CW garbage. The main aim as Vaughn said is gone completely , some guy that never got out of the 80's starting a dojo. Kids taking punches and kicks to the face with no bodily harm at all. Peyton List is cute as hell though

@@frankie3010 You shouldn't expect more, because the original Karate Kid story was a small, self contained fable about a very simple idea that did not have enough substance for a multi season television show. The main premise of KK was about bullying. You cannot sustain that for five seasons and keep it interesting like a show like The Expanse or Game of Thrones, shows with much more substance and political intrigue that earned their multiple seasons. Cobra Kai is extremely repetitive and ultimately boring because there is little to no story left over from the original movies. How many times can we watch students switch sides, or Sam switch boyfriends or Johnny and Daniel fight, then kiss and make up? There is nothing there other than nostalgia threads like Chozen and Terry Silver which ultimately also have little to offer beyond their original stories.

Coming from season 5 My problem with it is that it seems like karate is some sort of quick superpower like kids learn it in a month… for example that younger black kid knowing moves that knock and wind people who are double his age and size all within a few months shit makes no sense

At the end of season 4, Devon had been with karate all of two weeks. If I’m not mistaken, in the ‘84 movie the contestants were required to be black belts and as such Mr. Miyagi lied and swiped a black belt for Daniel.

The same could be said for Miguel, Robby, Hawk, and Aisha who managed to defeat actual Karate Black Belts at their first All Valley Karate Tournament even managing to make it to the Championship Rounds despite a few Months of Training while Miguel managed to singlehandedly takeout 4 Wrestlers at the same time. Technically it's legit for Sam to be the best Fighter of the Teens as She's trained since She was a little Girl (this is coming from Someone who can't stand Sam) with Tory being around the same Level considering that She trained Kickboxing prior to joining Cobra Kai showing how naturally skilled She was.

Yeah, I know people will argue the fact that Silver corrupts the kids to cheat or how he rigged any match for his favor, but even I had a hard time believing that Kenny can beat Eli due to how tall the dude is. I feel like a better match for Eli would’ve been Kyler. Heck, I find it more believable for Silver to teach Kyler the deadly moves. As Silver was established in the third movie to choose hotheaded dudes like Mike Barnes, to use those kinds of tactics. And considering how Kyler screams that energy in the past couple seasons, it would’ve made more sense, instead of Kenny.

I love the show but season 5 was pretty meh. Like it was just way too cheesy and the fights were crap. There’s other stuff I didn’t like about it which I’m not gonna mention but yeah… the future of this show doesn’t looks very promising.

If you examine the timeline of the plot in this series over 4 seasons, you find that only about a year-and-a-half or so has passed. Like you said about Miguel, he seemingly gained 50 pounds. Notice how Anthony also aged? He looked 8 in Season 1 and now looks 15. LOL.

Ain’t see you in a while, how’s it going? Yeah, the youngest kid will grow up quick but we’ve only covered two tournaments. I was surprised that Johnny is introduced as a two time all-valley champion when at the end of The Karate Kid Part III Daniel is declared the first two time consecutive champion. Don’t recall Johnny having mentioned winning as a freshman or sophomore.

they should have just kept this show as a youtube red show because that's how it started and that's how it's written

The Series should focus mainly on Cobra Kai instead of Miyagi Do, not make Miyagi Do out to be the Protagonists when they've done Antagonistic Things, stop prolonging these Fights as there should be Knockouts/Bruises/Injuries rather than having these Fights go on much longer than necessary, get rid of that stupid Eagle Fang Name which ruined the Series in the first Place, stop having Kids defect to Miyagi Do, and finally stop making Miyagi Do out to be the "superior Style" when it's been proven that Cobra Kai is not only just as good but even better in certain Instances.

it started going to shit as soon as Johny gave up on Cobra Kai or even earlier when he started getting into his own pointless drama just before losing Cobra Kai. The whole point of the first season was that Cobra Kai could actually be badass and still be a positive influence on the kids but for the rest of the series it's turned into some evil monster that has to be eliminated. According to the main characters anyway, at times I don't even understand why they're so obssessed with destroying cobra kai. Worst of all is what the writers do to Johny after Cobra Kai is taken over by Kreese, he is stuck with a completely new made up style and they name it like a parody, can't take it serious at all. It's absolute laziness and carelessness from the writers

I think some of the people are missing the point that Cobra Kai is intentionally over the top. I don't really think they expected someone to take this show seriously on factual level, and decided to drop that goal for good. And that's why it works, because that self awareness is built into it and noticable throughout the show. I can easily see how the show could have been bad if it somehow tried to be serious, cause how can you make a serious show about adults who were once teenagers competing in karate and now you have to somehow make them do it all over again after 30 something years.

Last month I had a gig a few hours away. On the car ride to the venue I practiced my Vin Diesel impression. Sore throat for the next couple of days.

I binge watched all 4 seasons. I liked it on one level but definitely had to suspend disbelief. I could never get past the geeks becoming bone crushing ninjas after a few lessons, nor Daniel after having not practiced in years just picking it back up to "master level", which is questionable by his karate moves which look about as real as Machio's guitar playing in Crossroads. Johnny Lawrence's moves are convincing because the actor who plays him actually is a martial artist. These kid's loyalties and convictions turn on a dime; one episode one is in one dojo vehemently out to injure former school chums, then the next they are sorry for all that and switching dojos… and despite having broken arms and deep wounds, everyone likes everyone again, at least for now. Maybe by watching it so fast, it didn't have time to settle in and allow me to kind of forget the timeline, but the first season or so was over the course of summer break... really a very short time for so much to take place. I wondered where all the money was coming from to keep these dojos open. Sure Daniel owned a business and his dojo and could afford to run his for free, but Cobra Kai keeps running on ONE CLASS of students. Not possible.. For a martial arts school to stay in business, especially in Las Angeles, it needs several classes with different students per week. The karate competition was a joke with only 3 dojos competing. Even in the original movie with all its inaccuracies, had several different ones competing. I was in martial arts for several years and know it does not come as quickly and easily as it seems to in these shows. So despite all of this, I do enjoy this series, especially the character Johnny Lawrence, who steals the show. I am looking forward to season 5. Good video!

I think most people like the show for Johnny, and seeing Daniel being as good of a guy as ever honors the character. You’re dead right about these kids flipping loyalties. It strikes me as REALLY weird how invested they are in karate. Like, what’s the ceiling? No one is talking about becoming an MMA champ. Shouldn’t they be looking for scholarships?

It's a dumb reason, and not really one that the show gives, but it's true IRL for a lot of people.

About the money, I don't know how expensive it really is running a dojo like this but I would have really enjoyed if Johny had to keep doing some side gigs to get money and if Cobra Kai was actually struggling and kept training with cheaper equipment and what not. It would have emphesized the underdog nature of Cobra Kai which imo is the best part about Karate Kid and martial arts movies like this.

The show is definitely into some power rangers territory now, but I still like the show for the karate and adults

As soon as Netflix took over it got wokefied. The definitive experience in my opinion is seasons 1 and 2. Watch season 3 if you really can't just get enough of it. Season 4 if you're super hardcore. In season 5 if no one else will change the channel for you.

The first 2 seasons where the Best

I wanted so much to like this show but after watching season 3 I just can't do it anymore. I think even though there was always annoying parts the first two seasons had moments that were really good. But I just can't take all the cringe annoying scenes anymore. I really really wish the situation ls were more realistic. But most of all I dislike Daniel. He's the biggest jerk of them all and has silly childhood aggressions when he's the one that came out on top and should have let it all go

There's too much cheese and over the top fight scenes for me. The kids are a horrible story arc, and terribly cast. Season 4 they introduced junior high kids, what's next, grade school? Then throw in making the girls the toughest ones on each team (woke anyone?). Outside of Johnny and Daniels wife, not one single actor is believable in their own character. Even Daniel (a character I love from the first 2 movies) is annoying and isn't the same likeable character. He comes off more of a spoiled whiner than a wise man who lived up to his teachers expectations. Daniel's dialog about Miyagi and his legacy is so forced, you're just sick of hearing it by the 3rd season. This show could have been so much more if it had a more serious, believable tone. It reminds me of when Abrahams remade Star Trek, yet never seen a single episode in his life. Cobra Kai is like a bad parody or alternate universe of the Karate kid.

I loved season one. It has since turned into a terrible Nickelodeon kids show.

It certainly looks consistent across seasons. But it does look more KZread than Strange Things. I think the show suffers from limitations. We have to stay in the valley and do this tournament again and again with faces from the movies popping in.

Like the show but yeah so many things wrong with it. 1. Where TF are the parents of these kids? Are they not aware of WTF is going on? 2. Johnny is a 50 year old man who still thinks its 1984? Yeah show me 1 50 something thats like that. 3. In all reality these DoJo's would have been shut down, and the parents would be in an uproar over all the fighting going on 5. No doubt the law would be involved and Johnny and Daniel would find themselves in a courtroom possibly facing jail along with allot of the kids themselves. 6. Daniel would probably be facing a divorce even if he didnt go to jail. 7. Daniel in all reality probably wouldnt get involved in any of this he would have just ran his Lexus dealership

I really didn’t like the skills contest. It just made the whole tournament seem dumb and don’t even get me started on the musical I wanted to turn the show off while it was going on

The story isn't Realy going anywhere... there too scared to kill off characters

I like the show but the toxic fandom of the series kinda ruined it for me. - People who are now too in love with Johnny Lawrence He is now likable and people are deflecting, his mistakes and bad actions with jokes and also blame other characters - The hate on Daniel Larusso This is The Karate Kid, who is now an adult with children. Like the previous problem, people blame this character for Johnny’s mistake. No doubt that Daniel has made a lot of mistakes as well but people need to take their blinders off. This next issue is not the fandom, it’s the writing - The kids story Bringing back Terry Silver was a great move, doing that, they redeemed Karate Kid III. But some of the children actors aren’t that good. Also, the fact that all the kids have a rivalry with some other kid is very weird. And to top it all off, everyone now knows karate. If none of this was true, it could have possible been as good a show as Stranger Things.

The writers are sexist and Miyagi Do fanboys who only care about Daniel, Mr Miyagi, Chozen and to a degree Sam is the only girl they care about because she’s a Larusso, the show went downhill in S3 and never recovered.

I think k the shows biggest problem isn't that they steer away from the original premise but the fact that a serious show becomes overly corny because of karate itself where the original movies made it not about how karate is the coolest thing ever but instead about how it helped basically just one person overcome his problems. Now it's just cringy when every kid breaks out karate at all times to solve everything. The shows progress is the drama and the good and bad angle of every character making you want to like and dislike every character. Also 5 seasons is way more content than 3 whole movies so steering away from it just being about Johnny after a couple seasons keeps the show from being one note and instead is a continuation of the movies feeling more immersive to me at least the only thing that kills it is the cringe in between good directing and plot

This show and storyline has developed very well. Imo it's the most exciting show in many years. Sure there could be some improvements but nothing is perfect and it's not going to sway into what everyone wants because everyone has a different outlook on how it all should go down and because of that it's nearly impossible to please everyone and do the show as they think it should be like. That is why they have writers, producers and executives to bring out the best of what a show can or should be like and so far cobra Kai has not disappointed imo and to others as well, numbers don't lie.

The problem with cobra kai -- everything

WTF? Why was Carrie Underwood shoehorned into this? WTF was that all about? That's not the least of the problems with season 4. Shawn's younger brother (don't care to remember his name) is portrayed as a middle-class suburban wimpy kid. Figured he'd be a younger version of his supposed hood-rat thug older brother persona living a hard life in the inner city. Shawn, also being from the suburbs, it seems, is emasculated because of this. What did he do to go to Juvie? Did he Jaywalk or piss on someone's lawn in suburbia? The tournament was also contrived to give at least 2 separate plot outcomes from separating boy/girl. Tory vs. Sam. Weak dick Hawk vs. Johnny's unlikeable son. Did anyone care about a 'skills competition?' So, Miguel takes off to find his father because drunk Johnny referred to him as Robby... This is more like a teenage soap opera at this point than an actual coming-of-age karate-bully story. Why do I not care anymore? Season 4 was total shit.

I think the second and third were the best seasons mainly because they focus more on Johnny’s character, and also Daniel’s. I think making more and more is gonna ruin it, making more and more teams and the same old tournament formula is all gonna just ruin it. Also the fourth season’s tournament was so EXTRA. I don’t think every character seems “misunderstood” because Robby wasn’t really “misunderstood” he’s just confused and doesn’t know who to trust because he basically grew up with no role model or no good parent. Tory just had underlying problems that haven’t been delved into, she does have that misunderstood trope I never understood but her having underlying issues should be more delved into. I don’t know why they’re ruining Miguel with that weird season 4 cliffhanger, I mean he already HAS a father figure who outright admitted that they love him as a son. Sam’s whole misunderstood thing makes sense because of her father who’s EXTREMELY stubborn and the others are either fine or boring. I don’t find it all completely bad, I don’t care for how cheap it looks not everything is gonna look like stranger things but hopefully season 5 is better, even with that Miguel storyline I’m gonna hate.

Yeah, I will admit I kind of felt lazy for Johnny in the previous episode when Miguel found him drunk and took him to his bed and he called him Robby instead of Miguel. I got that were trying to put an emphasis on how Robbie blames both Miguel and his father for the fact that the only reason why Johnny cares so much about him is to hide the fact that he screwed up with Robby. But it should’ve been done way better, since it was already established before, in the previous seasons.

I was disappointed by the end of Season 2. It should have stayed blurred lines between Cobra Kai and Miyagi- Do and how any Dojo has a good and bad to them and how changed Cobra Kai could be. As well as have Daniel and Sam realize they are wrong instead of proving them right.

I couldn’t even get through season one.

I don't why but as I get to the ending of 4th season I begin to liking John kreese and hating every other one 😅😅😅 I don't know why but i want him to win and other to loose, dont know how I got on his side 😆😆 every other character iritates me now... Am I the only one???? 😅😅😅

I couldn't really follow your ramblings in this video but you definitely missed the main problem with this show and that's the ridiculous 20 minute fights that completely jump the shark resulting in someone being paralyzed and then somehow can walk again and then all the sudden can fight at full capacity again like nothing happened and his mom is completely on board with the fighting again. It stupid as fuck and if the rest of the show wasn't so good it would have completely ruined any other show and made it unwatchable

The show is great, but it takes forever for the next season to be released

I only see positive reviews, but only good in this movies are fight scenes, even some of them aren't realistic, the plot is hilarious, the drama sometimes comes out of nowhere. It's like reviewers are 10 yrs old kids

I’m sorry but I root for the bad guys I just hate how the good guys literal never loose or they learn some new move and immediately use it in the next fight or how the good guys literally are still bullies but we’re supposed to ignore it like it’s just ughh

Complain, complain, complain. To each his own. You don't get it and that is okay. But this show is not supposed to be realistic, it is pure entertainment. It's fun, funny, inspirational, with some profound life lessons and emotional moments. Yes, it diverges from the original "Karate Kid" tone and focus, but it's new, fresh and better written than any other show I have seen. It's not perfect and has flaws like every single show, but it's still great.

The story is writing grown 50 yr old men to act like little kids or jealous little girls because they’re student wants to learn more than 1 form of karate. Not to mention the whole cast becoming “black belt” level in 3 weeks of karate. It pulls characters out of no where and keeps putting spotlight on them wasting actual camera time with characters we’ve already grown to love

@@KodexKat You can pick apart any movie or show. The greatest movies or shows of all time are dumb when you think about it too much. Cobra Kai is purposely over-the-top and is comedic to a large extent. It's pure escapism and entertainment. If you want realism, you will have to watch documentaries, and even documentaries have a lot of fake stuff in them, like when they stage lions eating animals that the producers give corpses to the lions to eat and suggest that the lions had just made a kill.

i liked cobra kai tho i do admit that it has its flaws but is it a bad series? oh god no.unlike most spinoff series's it actually does something right with the story it manages to revive old ideas and keep them fresh while adding new ones to the table

The All Valley Tournament in season 4 was the most cringe thing I've watched from the entire series thus far.

I thought I was the only one irked by him. You don’t get a “performance” out of a town’s youth event announcer. You get unprofessional questionable public speaking in the real world.

Um, right from the first complaint you make it apparent you haven't been paying attention. Johnny got the money to start the school from his stepdad; plenty of parents did remove their kids from the classes and the city was going to shut the schools down but for the protests of the students. If you're going to tear the show apart, at least watch it first.

I HATE THIS DAMN SHOW. It pisses me off how much people like it... Its just not good... poor acting, poor fighting, and a lame story. Its just a bunch of people who watched the original movies who are having nostolgic delusions when they review the show.

I agree, As soon as I see 50, 60 and 70+ year old men doing roundhouse kicks and somehow having the strength to beat up and keep up with young adults in there late teens and early 20's I turned this off. Obviously this show isn't taking itself serious. Absolute cringe! 💀😂

I can't disagree more. Ive never seen any of the karate kid films and I enjoy Cobra Kai. The character development and writing in the first couple of seasons is really well done. The relationship between Johnny and Miguel hard carries but there is still a lot of well written characters in those seasons. It definitely starts to get sloppy in season 3 onward though and one has to suspend their belief a bit. I guess as a pro wrestling fan that part comes easier

I like the beginning of Season 2 and Season 1, Seaon 5 is better, but the last two episodes of Season 2, Season 3 and 4 are a disappointment. I can’t wait for Season 6 though.

Some of the seasons start with more promise than they deliver.

Loved the original 80s movie franchise but if you're more of a Sopranos, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul type of person then don't even bother with this show. I'm convinced I've dropped several IQ points from the 1st season alone!

If you are trying to look for realism in this show you will hate it. It's meant to be a bit cheesy and over the top. That's why people like it and that's why it was so popular during the worst of the pandemic....we need cheesy stuff to watch and escape reality.

Just watching grown men butting into high school drama is as cringe as the cheesy 80’s references in the show. So what went on with their lives between the 1989-2017?? Did they ever run into each other? Didn’t Daniel run a successful car dealership? Also, Johnny and Daniel are hitting 60. They had their kids in their late 30’s, early 40’s. Wouldn’t be surprised if Johnny had more older kids scattered around. And if he was a dead beat, How did he survive in LA throughout all these years? Kreese and Silver going out of their way to settle some meaningless beef? if they really cared about Cobra Kai, they’d open a dojo and bring it back sometime in the 90’s or 00’s instead of waiting for Johnny. Does MMA exist in this universe? Most high school kids are into that than karate, and I am sure they would be running the school.

cobra kai has way to much testosterone; even the girls! 😂 what is this show? 🤣 at least in the OG movie they went on dates & had some fun. This show just makes you feel like someone injected you with steroids. Its ridiculous. There are not moments of peaceful bliss or playful fun. So what are they fighting for????? This might as well be Dragon Ball Z 🙃🤔

I don’t know what happened in Season 4, they hired some terrible actors and the writing got really cheesy.

I'm a fan of The Karate Kid but Cobra Kai show sucks!

Season 4...a huge let down,theres some great ideeas here and there but nothing to get invested,im sure im not the only one that thinks the karate stuff(fights)should be handled more profesional

@@VaughnJogVlog season 1 was definitely the best. But when it got over the top in season 2 it was still entertaining as hell and had good plots and characters. Season 3 was good because it had an established set of characters from every Dojo against each other and season 4 is where I thought it started falling off. The rivalries and conflicts began to feel old and boring and season 5 just took everything way to far and the whole jist of the show got completely repetitive and stale by that point to me.
