    Unfortunately there are many like her. I follow Roland S. Martin's channel who has plenty of followers. He's hard for me to listen to, but there are at times certain perspectives that he's probably right about. Same with Owens. True that she runs off the rails at times, but she also makes some good points. In both cases I think it is important to hear their perspectives and be accepting or thoughtful about those things that they just might be getting right, rather than being wholesale dismissive.

    I've been posting her opinionated and her "I feel as though, I think that, " comments without facts. She states examples from a viewpoint of yt assimilation, and separate from the black community. I cite her racial abuse in school as having a profound affect on her desire to be accepted by whites. Unfortunately she's adding fuel to the fire of bigotry by saying what their itching ears desire to hear. Her followers come at me often and I just state factual data regarding DEI, Affirmative Action, white crime statistics, etc.

He uses black immigrants that perform well economically as a counter against black Americans that don't, without admitting it's decades of policies that have undermined black Americans that is the cause. Their culture doesn't value education... because American culture collectively hasn't really valued black American education, if you look at how they defunded and red lined their communities and schools. There's nuance that Hughes overlooks, I just can't tell if he's blind to it by having a privileged upbringing, or if he intentionally ignores it. I do believe he has said that more effort and funds need to be put into the education of black communities (Candace too, and strengthening the black nuclear family), so I could be wrong.

    I think his critique on Candace is a bit off. When asked about climate change by Rogan, she clearly stated that she didn’t have all the facts, and that the climate change wasn’t a hill she would die on. She didn’t state her opinion like it was fact, she made it clear it was just her thoughts based on limited information and she didn’t feel overly strong about the topic. Coleman is very robotic, though, so I doubt he would comment on something unless he had all the facts. If he was in Candace’s shoes on Rogan’s podcast, he would’ve said, “no comment”. He needs to loosen up, it’s fine to express opinions based on limited facts, as long as you clarify you’re not well versed on the topic, and thus aren’t adamant with your opinion.

You could easily level the same charges against Christopher Hitchens, yet no one disputes he was one of the great polemicists of our time, able to communicate his atheist-evolutionary worldview much more persuasively than many of his scholarly peers. Except Hitchens developed a rather nasty reputation for his tendency to lie about his opponents mostly the Christians. He ignored his own errors and flip-flopped with the wind, he and his "horsemen" saw to it that intelligent atheism died with Antony Flew. He saw academic atheism reduced to the angsty teenager "Fuck you Mom and Dad!". Not a legacy I'd want to inherit. Michael Ruse will ALWAYS be the superior advocate and I'm not even an atheist and can see that. As for Candace, she's part of the Neo-Con deception the failure of conservatism. Coleman sticks to facts doesn't try to pick sides from what I've seen. So he's a readily reliable source for the race issue much like Sowell. You know what’s great about this particular thread of discussion is that people have differences of opinion and voice those differences RESPECTFULLY. Too often when discussing issues in today’s society, especially discussions occurring online, end up in heated exchanges and cutting each other down. So it is refreshing to see respectful discussions like this that typically leads us to learning something new - because ultimately, we are ALL uniquely different, with differing life experiences and perspectives. And when we come together with an open mind and intent to understand and be understood, we all benefit and grow! It reminds me of the founding of America. Men and women of open minds and a determination to make their communities and society better, came together, debated amongst one another, and ultimately created ‘a more perfect union.’ And that Union (America) continued to improve, in large measure with the abolition of slavery via the very bloody Civil War. But the very core elements that made that more perfect Union (of America) great are being attacked viciously. Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I love this country and will stand up for the much good it has done and will do. America truly has been a beacon of hope to much of the world’s population for so many years, despite what mainstream media including many in positions of power and/or influence fight so diligently to have us believe.

Hughes, you and so many others made their assessments of Candace likely 3+ years ago and have failed to observe her growth since. It is clear she has read and studied a hell of a lot since she first showed up on the scene. And she has experienced a lot since then too. People are capable of learning and growing and changing - you should give it a try some time.

    I really like Hughes a lot. He is awesome. A great thinker despite his age. However, I actually think his critique of Candace is a fairly shallow view of her. I’ve watched Candace over time and have seen her continually work to inform her opinions more and more. Also, I agree she is fairly aggressive in her commentary but in truth she is typically simply reacting to those attacking her. She understands that she is “politicking” in “culture war” and never has pretended that she is approaching this issues from an intellectual academic perspective. In the end, some people - mostly academia - will respond better to Coleman’s measured commentary, but the average person on the street will likely never even hear Coleman’s commentary, whereas it could be accurate to say that Candace Owens has actually moved the needle and has allowed a larger percentage of blacks to stop blindly voting for just any politician with a “D” behind their name.

    John wayne By the mere fact that so many clowns like you show up to hurl ad hominem insults at her only proves the opposite of what you say. She is very effective at what she does. When she first showed up on the scene she seemed to be less informed, but she has read a lot and experienced a lot and has worked very hard to become much more than “vacuous”. That is the problem with clowns like you, because you never grow and improve you cannot recognize that others do. Like any bitter blind ideologue you just hold onto the same old rhetoric that confirms your blind bias.

What is Candace's over-arching message? 1) The Black Community needs to stop blindly voting for every politician with a "D" behind their names but instead they need to think for themselves and just stop going along based it is what everybody they know does. 2) She says Blacks are not oppressed in America. That they should stop embracing the roll of a victim and start believing they're empowered to transform their own lives and experience success in America. 3) That the greatest problems facing the Black Community today isn't racism, but instead the very high percentage of no fathers in the home, horrendous schools in black communities and the high percentage of students that are reading well below their age level, and finally the extremely high numbers of Black on Black homicides. Why does this ONE WOMAN threaten you so much that you feel the need to spend such an inordinate amount of time attacking her? Now that is an obvious issue that deserves attention. The climate change argument I think lacks merit because they are using suggested models form 60 years ago. I remember in 1992 when i was just getting the military Al Gore said Florida would be under water and we should all buy property on high ground in Tennessee and Polar Bears would be extinct. well, none of that happened at all. In fact, the water level in the Florida intercoastal waterway is exactly where it was in 1992. It hasn't risen or fallen. The polar ice caps do melt but the climate change folks dont tell ya that it is also freezing at the same rate in other areas. I think we should be discussing the trash floating everywhere. That is something we can all definitely see but noone is really talking about it or seem to be upset about it at all.

Cuz honestly i always felt/knew that black/coloured people like candace owens who were so outspoken were either bought by the right, but I could never really confirm my suspicions. But the proof that there are people like Coleman hughes gives me hope. A person who calls out bs on the left and the right.

If Rogan asked her about it and she had a strong opinion on the matter and could not back it up that’s kinda foolish on her part because all she had to say was “I don’t have all the facts in front of me, but I’ve been lead to believe... Yada yada yada.. based on this... yada yada yada...” Candace always plays that “look at the facts card” so she should be held to that standard all the time.

    “Smelling my farts” - Coleman Hughes In all seriousness though, Coleman is a great wedge against what I like to call the fallacy of *Arguing From Racial Authority,* as I and many other whites folks are out here saying the exact same things as Coleman, BUT since we are white our opinions are seen as infinitely less authoritative and authentic when speaking about race and racism. So... Coleman Hughes is essentially just an alternate version of me, but softer spoken, who I can copy paste links of to my regressive friends if they ever trying and pull a “but you’re white, what do you know about race?” Or “oh a white guy arguing about race with a black woman, how rich!” It’s fucking obnoxious that my opinions need to come from the mouth of a darker pigmented person to be given a fair hearing, but there it is.

  • @UltraX34

    @UltraX34

    3 жыл бұрын

    That's very fair and I agree. I'd say keep being honest but MAKE SURE the black people you dialogue with know you care about them and that you understand where they are coming from. . I think the issue is that when white people decide to argue BEFORE they decide to listen black people don't want to hear it. I'm black but many of my views are different than your African American given that I am a Christian Nigerian who grew up in secular Europe. I lack the natural conservative tendencies of many American Evangelicals, and the ever increasing progressive tendencies of young African Americans. So I have a knack of noticing the flaws in both sides and their views often. So I would recommend that yes you 100% still share your views, but be at least sensitive to the fact that the experiences of African American black people often cloud them from hearing different views. That's wrong, but it's understandable. If, for example, I have experienced racism as a black man, debating me about how widespread racism is when you're white makes it hard for me to listen because you just haven't experienced it like I have. So that's what's necessary. Be honest and clear. I love Jordan Peterson (he's a hero of mine) and I disagree with him (slightly) on white privilege, but because I know where he's coming from and that he isn't blind but very knowledgeable about sociology and clearly not a racist or a sexist, I can listen to him even on topics we disagree on. So yeah it's sad where it is. I think you need to approach it as dialogue between positions rather than debate and argument.
