If you read the Pali canon, this Theravada Buddha did stand up to false views and goofy religious sects. It is Mahayana (the revisionist false dharma)that perhaps pretends ignorance should not be challenged.

The way he explains Buddhism makes it very clear to me that he doesn’t understand it.

100% anyone can think and do what they want but no one should argue about anything without knowing or having full understanding. Understanding in Buddhism cannot get without being open in mind. Buddhism is not a religion, its a path to self discovery and to attain the Nibbana.

Buddha himself strongly encouraged people to be skeptical of his teachings, and to test the principles for themselves in their daily lives to see if it they are true or not. I greatly appreciate this aspect of Buddhism, whereas other major religions expect "blind faith." Wherever you are, may you be happy and free from suffering.

Although Islam was a religion since the creation of Adam (pbuh), the final messanger of Allah (peace be upon him) was revealed the Holy Quran. The evidence is the Quran. There were sooo many prophecies, signs and miracles, but as a scientist, my favorite are the scientific ones. The Quran was sent 1400 years ago in a desert. It describes the Big Bang, Embryology, that salty and regular water dont mix in the ocean, that the Sun rotates around the axis, that planets have orbits and Im just scratching the surface of the iceberg. If you want more proof, learn about the Quran and google the video - scientific miracles in the Quran

A god can also reach enlightenment as well and it should be much easier for a god to reach it because of his long lifespan. Buddha also encouraged his Bhikkhus to question everything, including his own teachings. Critical thinking is very important in Buddhism. I doubt very strongly that Buddha, as we have come to call him, was looking to start a religion. He was just a wise man who had some good advice and religion sprang from that. Remember, Buddha wasn't a Buddhist. He was just doing his thing, and people started following suit.

Buddha preaching the same methodology to wisdom one should with the scientific method. There are no true gurus in science, just celebrity scientists. You should be aloud to question Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein if you manage to find imperical evidence, not with pseudo-science where “my idea is right, academia is trying to silence me! Waaah.” Mind you, I still like researching on Einstein and Newton as individuals. They are without a doubt inspiring to a legendary degree. But their theories are just as subject to scrutiny as a physicist fresh out of university.

Fr, Buddhist principles/perspectives have really helped me deal with life better. I got into it when I found out that quite a bit of modern psychotherapy is based on Buddhist teachings e.g. ‘radical acceptance’ from DBT. This man just completely misunderstood the whole religion, lol.

I agree, they work with fear to have power over people. I love Jesus' teachings, but I find it difficult to think of Him as God. They brainwashed me with fear, as a child. "If you don't believe Jesus died for your sins, you will go to .... " Or "You have to believe Jesus was God in human form" -Me: Aren't we all in a certain way? But if you ask that question, you're really doomed: "Who do you think you are, to even come up with that idea?"

In fact, it was reading the quran, along with Muhammed's biography and a lot of hadiths that made me convinced that he was not a real prophet, but a con-artist and an ego-maniac.. But my point still stands, the fact that you are CONVINCED does not provide actual CERTAINTY.. It just means that you found it convincing enough to believe it, and so Islam does escape this very critique that he is levelling at Buddhism..

As a Buddhist, one thing I know I am sure is that the precepts and path do lead me to an upright living. It's not perfect, but it's a practical lay down of spiritual living that isn't convoluted with you know.

With meditation u can bring your mind to its highest peak and frequency....then u understand everything....its not about proving to others, it's about understanding yourself. No need of faith. Everything becomes very clear...only thing is this process takes ages.,since mind is not an easy thing to deal with .

@@thushiweera6696 I definitely admire the mental dedication in Buddhism and believe in it's power. But for me, that kind of Buddhism or that way of following it seems too self-centred. It's all about focusing on yourself and improving yourself, perhaps in an acquisitive way for some people, and that puts me off. That's why I identify with Christianity, because you give over your life to something else and don't rely on your own power. However, I'm sure that real Bhuddist monks don't see it that way and perhaps that just comes from 'popular' Bhuddism. Also, if everyone practiced those mental disciplines people maybe could live more harmoniously together. I do like the part of those religions which talks about the 'universal' or the 'oneness' because then it takes the focus away from the self.

It is not really a problem with Buddhism,it is just how you choose to understand it.

According to him he would have believed in Buddha just if buddha had said I am Prophet.

Buddha said that through mediation and his other recommendations you attain clarity and peace. And through that, understanding. He also said that knowing things like in a philosophical sense is not as important as the most important thing - to overcome suffering. The outline he gives is the path that he used to overcome his own suffering. It’s hard to argue with that.

Thus do We requite every disbeliever!” [al-Maa’idah 5:10] If you kept practice what your practicing now and see for yourself when you die , see what awaits you is horror that you didn't even Imagined. Aal ‘Imraan 3:116] Do you know what you will have to drink in Hell if you die as a disbeliever? Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “… But those who disbelieved will have a drink of boiling fluids and painful torment because they used to disbelieve.” Yoonus 10:5] Do you know what you will have to wear on that Day? Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “… Then as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them, boiling water will be poured down over their heads.” [al-Hajj 22:19] Do you know what kind of punishment you will endure? “Surely! Those who disbelieved in Our Signs, We shall burn them in Fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for other skins that they may taste the punishment. Truly, Allaah is Ever Most Powerful, All-Wise.” We had read many many book , why not read whole Qu'ran once , who know when will be you or I take our last breath Better be save then sorry acknowledge that one true God [Allah ] exists and acknowledge God's messager prophet Mohammed s.a.w ( may peace be upon him ) I guess , you just wanted to mock rather then finding truth " As for those who persist in disbelief, it is the same whether you warn them or not-they will never believe. " [Surah Al- Baqarah '2.6 ]

Buddhism says two thing about rebirth : 1st , [ Samara : ]believes in continuous cycle of rebirth, if so then how is our population increasing ? Population shouldn't increase if rebirth is actually a thing. If there is one person, then there will be only one person on earth because of "REBIRTH" Buddhism say" no new soul is created " accordingly, population shouldn't increase as well , but that's not what's happening since the beginning of mankind . Population of humans and animals increase significantly. And who was the first person to be born ? There has to be the 1st and 2nd person to be created ( " born " according to Buddhism , Buddhism doesn't says humans and animals are created ) , becuz logically , religiously and scientificly that how life goes on ! Secondly, Buddhism tells about re-birth of person in hell or heaven Rebirth : being born again with brand new body and a complete new starting. (So a persson won't remember the past life !!! ) How is that just ?? How is it just to give them [ past sinful according to Buddhism ] torment of hell , when they don't even remember their crimes/sins ? If they have everything new including memories, then they are innocent as they have not done anything wrong as far as they remember , they don't have the memories ! They don't/won't know what are they getting punished for !!

"The purpose of life" is a metaphysical question. The Buddha did not deal with metaphysics, and in His famous Noble Silence, the Buddha rejected all such questions. The Buddha was concerned with human suffering, and its cessation - which includes, but is by no means limited to, the ceasing of asking questions which either arise out of, or result in, human suffering or dissatisfaction...

You can ask the same question for all religions

Jewish person of European descent. Generally you find that people of Judaeo-Christian faiths (Christianity, Islam, Judaism) use this same logic to "defeat" anyone in debates. You say something and they keep replying "How do you know?" again and again. So they're basically saying that because we can't know everything, we can't be authorities on *anything*. That's why they have to invent an authority i.e. God to tell you what's right or wrong. So it's a deeply authoritarian ideology, when expressed in this form, that is.

I Love how Dharmic Religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism coexist Peacefully & Happily.❤

Buddha says that one has to find his own truth and if one wants to know, one have to walk on the path of Buddha and become Buddha.

Well, the same question applies to every religion. For example, "Jesus comes up with a lot of answers, but my question is, how do you know?" Or "Muhammad comes up with a lot of answers, but my question is, how do you know?" Or "*Insert arbitrary messiah figure* comes up with a lot of..." You get my point. I respect the Buddha because he doesn't command you to blindly follow his principles. Lead a righteous life and the truth will present itself to you. Be kind, be loving, and trust your own judgement.

That’s the point of Buddhism. We don’t need a God to dictate our daily lives. Humans are responsible for their actions and only we can atone the consequences we committed.

@@LifeOdysseyMotivation It's nothing to do with being jealous. The Buddha makes no demands on blind faith, or ritual (even though certain rituals exist). He put forward a practical solution (and it does work) for dealing with dukkha. It doesn't automatically stop you having faith in a god or whatever. That's up to you..... It's like Buddha said... this is a journey, as you grow wiser along your path, the way you see and live reality will change. I am slavic buddhist and answer is simple my Friend, our purpose is to achieve enlightenment to not suffer and bé happy, Shakyamuni doesnt focused on Universal questions like how World started etc cuz in his Times Hinduism was answering that question he gave us tools and materials to make our mind pure and compassionate. Hé never claimed he is god because he wasnt one and knew that if hé would call himself that way people would start to kill in his name like christians did for Christ or Muslims do for Muhammad

What happened was he observed the silence and became afraid and realised his Ego was in danger, so he clung to that and abandoned reality. He was so close to the truth but chose delusion ( a defilement that chains us to existence)

Muhammad was a man who did fight wars and this resulted in a lot of deaths by the 1000s. He did practice slavery including sexual slavery. He did have many wives in addition to this he had many concubines. One may argue that he was just a man of his time following the same vices like his contemporaries. But the Buddha was far above all of that.

Despite the fact that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upton him) was exemplary, we did not make him a divinity. Allah is the one and only God, and Muhammad (peace be upton him) was an example who put into practice the teachings of God. Please do better research next time.

Sanstire Buddha was a prince. He did take sanyaas or renunciation from all relations because he was moved by human suffering all around him but his wife and child were well looked after, because they were royalty. Buddhism and jainism were highly critical of social inequalities and casteism. Buddha lived some 500 years before christ and some 1200 years before islam but neither did he enslave people nor did he kept women as concubines. He preached compassion among human being irrespective of their ethnicity or religious beliefs. There were no kafirs in his ideology. He preached peace, did not divide society He was a prince who left his kingdom to search for enlightment at a time when sons were killing their own fathers and brothers were killing their own brothers for throne. In fact, one of his followers ashoka the great the emperor of india who lived some 300 years before christ and 1000 years before islam issued orders that even animals should not be harmed in his empire. There was no one like Buddha and jain gurus.
