April Tanirau and know that Ned was not just protecting Jon BUT ALL OF THEM & was honor bound to protect his nephew. He would have I think protected the child no matter what, he felt Robert's slaughter of innocent women & children was disgusting & RAPE & MURDER OF WOMEN out of character for Rhagar T. Who was known to be a stand up guy. Well we all know that Robert's slaughter & war was a farce & he knew the whole time she loved him & wasn't raped or killed but cherished & protected. Anyway.. he was was honor bound to protect his nephew not only because of the promise but by blood. He was also protecting the WHOLE FAMILY, because if big King Rob had found out about that little munchkin... He'd have taken Ned's head & the baby hostage - so the story had to be fool proof. It helped that Jon looked so much like him... Lyanna did. Have some mystery around it.... Ashara Dane's name flew around, the serving wench Willa. I wonder if she would have been angry anyway, knowing that Jon was a matrilineal the Stark of WINTER FELL - & since he so favors the North - gets his prowess from Lyanna who bested some of the greatest Knights in the kingdom as the Knight of the Laughing Tree. Respects women & what they have to say. Is GIVEN POWER - Never takes it - wears his crown for his people - not for a cause or himself.... ... When I started watching Game of Thrones, I thought Jon was painfully generic - just a pretty face and a strong sword arm, like every dime-a-dozen fantasy protagonist. But by the end of season 6, he was my favorite fictional character in anything ever. Such an inspiringly well-written hero.

True, he wins people over with his goodness, bravery, and fighting skill, but he is a bit stupid. In the battle of the bastards he was going to get all his men crushed if not for the army of the Vale showing up at the last second to save him, thanks to Littlefinger and Sansa. He was also going to get everyone killed when they go north of the Wall and Daenerys's dragons save them miraculously at the last second, but they lose a dragon in the process. He also lacks any kind of salesmanship/ability to get people to his cause after what happened at Hardhomme, for 2 seasons afterwards he was frustratingly incapable of relating the horrors he witnessed there and convincing people to join his side against that existential threat.

He's not a perfect hero for sure, good point about the poor negotiation skills. But he's not necessarily "a bit stupid", he just has a very strict set of principles and an honor code inherited from his father, which he lives by. So, when something happens that challenges these principals - he stands by them, he knows it's a bad/stupid/useless thing to do, but it's the right thing. A stupid person usually doesn't understand that what he is doing is stupid and dumb, until after the fact. Jon understands that beforehand but has a reason for what hes doing.

My heart sank when they were saying "the king in the north" and it showed Jon hugging arya all the way back to season one and ygritte a few times, and uncle Ben, showing back to when everything was actually good

He did not murder his brother or burn his daughter for his claim to the iron throne (Stannis), he did not hatch 3 dragons and threaten to burn anyone alive who won't bend the knee to him (Daenerys), he did not put the Kingdom through a rebellious war and cause the death of thousands just cause a 15 year old girl chose someone else over him (Robert), he did not manipulate people lying left and right trying to scheme his way into the throne (Littlefinger), he did not behead an honorable man for finding out the truth that his children were born of incest and have no claim to the throne (Cersei), he did not break his vows and marry Talissa and put himself and his mother in danger of death betraying an unreliable Walder Frey (Robb), he is not stupid enough to confront Cersei about her children being illegitimate bastards and trusting Littlefinger thus getting himself beheaded in the end (Ned) etc... He sacrificed himself to bring peace between the wildlings and the northmen, he was stabbed by his own men, came back and is still fighting for the survival of mankind. He is the only one who should be honored and respected in this sick twisted world of ice and fire, long live the only true king, king Jon Snow a.k.a Aegon Targaryen!!

I'm a grown ASS man and this had me "eye sweating" yelling THE KING OF THE FUCKING NORTH! I haven't felt like this about a character since Aragorn from Lord of the rings. Good job. You made a Jon Snow believer out of me.

God damn this was beautifully done. I'm not ashamed to admit I got a little teary-eyed watching.

One of the best videos I've watched in KZread, perfect, just perfect. Still gave me goosebumps after the 3rd time watching.

I remember seeing character tributes since the early years of KZread and this is by far one of the finest. It's elegant, heartfelt, moving, smoothly edited, it shows that the maker of the video grasps the various threads and themes of Jon's journey in the greater context of the story, and it's perfectly timed with its release before the last episode this season. Absolutely a work of art!

Can't sleep waiting for the last episode

The rise of the music was perfect every time it happened. Especially when Jon was about to fuck some shit up; the editing had a visceral effect. This video was surprisingly, unbelievable GOOD!
