The Price of This Used Parts PC Is SHOCKING

Ғылым және технология

My new PC build of 2023 was a great one! Buying your parts used (as long as you shop smart) is a great option for getting the most out of your budget.
My parts list:
CPU: Ryzen 5800x
Cooler: BeQuiet PureLoop 280mm AIO
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550i
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB 3200MHz
GPU: EVGA RTX3080 FTW3
PSU: Corsair SF750 SFX
Case: Cooler Master NR200P MAX (would still recommend the regular nr200p over the max for most people)

very nice build! i have a nearly identical spec to yours with just some components being slightly different (pro ax b550i, 5800x3d, thermalright ps120se, ventus 4070ti oc) and i couldn't be happier! some amazing prices you snagged these parts for! i also got some fairly good deals on my parts (mainly me scoring the 4070ti for 600 bucks) and its always refreshing seeing someone build an incredibly powerful machine while being on a conscious budget! hope this pc will be serving you well!

Not bad at all! I like the laid back yet information dense presentation style you have. Only thing I may have done differently is a 5700X instead of a 5800X. To be fair, it seems like you may have started purchasing items as far back as April that ended up being used in this video. I bought a 5800X a few years ago at $350 and a 5700X in May of this year for $150. As you can imagine, the performance per dollar is WAY higher for the 5700X. Also, in my experience testing them both extensively, the 5700X uses more refined silicon that does away with much of the difficulty in cooling the 5800X. All you end up losing after PBO/Curve Optimizer tuning is 100MHz.

Yes I think you are absolutely right the 5700x would be a better pick overall!

lmmao im using a like 10 year old artic case just to fit mad hard drives and have a giant ATX board for no reason ( I do OC like crazy, but no liquid cooling cause of the maintenance and I also can't walk anymore so that makes it a lot harder to work on a computer not gonna lie. ) nice build though I can't imagine working in such a tight space.

Why get rid of something if it works, right? I'm still using a 10 year old Cooler Master HAF XB as my main rig, while an NZXT Source 530 from 9 years ago serves as a nice home server with tons of drive slots and lots of airflow.

Do you have any universally good tips for a first-time time PC builder?

Read the motherboard manual, AND the motherboard, ALL connectors on the motherboard are labeled, if something doesn't fit it probably doesn't go there or you're putting it wrong, double check the ram direction when installing, the notches are not in the middle, so there is only 1 possible correct way to put them. If it's your first or second build, avoid at all costs RGB, iCUE, and any other hardware/software proprietary connector nightmare, it will only add to your anxiety when building, if possible avoid SATA drives, a 1 or 2TB M.2 NVME drive is affordable now days, they will last, and save you in cable management nightmare when building. If possible i would avoid too any RTX 4000 past the RTX4060 (basically all 4070/80/90), they use the 12+4 pin proprietary power connector that has already claimed many PC's lives on their flames, look only for the common 6 and 8pin PCIE power connector and you'll be safe. If possible look for quality power supplies, Corsair, FSP, Bequiet, Bitfenix, usually offer good quality power supplies, even if they cost 100$ or more they are a good investment, they'll last a decade or 2 if you clean them regularly and treat them with care, making it possible to reuse them on future builds, if you're unsure of how many W pick a 850W gold rated PSU and you're good to go even with high end parts. For cases pick up simple ones without to many BS, even a basic Bitfenix Neos can be a good starting point, cheap, and has more or less all the modern features along with old ones so you can't go wrong, if you go for expensive cases be cautious as many DON'T come with preinstalled fans, so you're gonna have to buy and install them yourself, if you want included fans look out for cases like the Fractal Torrent for example, remember that you're not only buying a case to hold the components, but it has to cool them, many cases will look cool but have terrible airflow if any at all even if they show to have 11 fans or more it doesn't matter if it's a pretty closed glass box, the hot air ain't coming out, GamersNexus has a lot of case reviews i would recommend taking a look at them.

Depending on what you are looking for i would get an atx case, because they are usually easier to build in. Dont cheapout on the power supply because a good one will last you a long time (6+ years)

do research. What brand cpu u goin' for, AMD or Intel? Make sure the motherboard goes with the CPU. Z series is for Intel (Z670), and X series (X670)is for Ryzen mobos.Graphics cards AMD, Nvidia, or Intel. The power supply should be a minimum of 850w and gold rated and fully modular. GPUs and CPUs are getting beefier and need a lot of power. RAM should be 2x16gb sticks. DDR4 for the last gen and DDR5 for the current gen. Finally, make sure the case can fit all these things. Good luck with your build.

Just after the 4:30 mark it appears the 3080 was purchased in April, so not a bad price at the time.
