7:55 it was supposed to be frogs from the start but the japanese frog they used for the sound wasnt recognizable to westerners so they changed it to crickets for the American release. Glad it was changed back to frogs

Isn't the sound the same, just the description changed? In german it was frog too, and never encountered someone having problems recognizing it as that.

TYSK- both of these are within the first 10-15 minutes of the game, after you run with Goombella to the second floor. Go left, and when you anger the toad by crushing the lense, immediately go into the store and talk to the first toad. He will order them for you. I say to do this now because it takes real gameplay time for them to come in. It should be ready by the time you need to go there for the story. As for my other tip, when that thug steals your coins the first time you go right, you can actually get them back. Go back to the main room with the shop and hotel, then go through the archway between them, turn left once in that area, then go into the door. He will be there and give your coins back. I didn't know either of these until my mid teens. I got the game when I was around 6 or 7.

Granted I never got past the boggly woods tree because I actually want to read dialogue and the Puni's somehow kept getting misaligned when I'd have Flurry blow them off the platform, making it take longer to get them across the gap... I die as the elder yells at crobus.

TYSK: Unless this is changed heavily, be prepared to backtrack between the town and steeple in Chapter 4 upwards of 3 times. You cannot return to the main hub until the chapter's complete. Another situation like this happens in Chapter 5 as your ship gets sunk on the way to the island. As a pro player, I recommend experimenting around with different badges, and if you need money, don't be afraid to sell the ones you don't use to the shopkeeper at the Lovely Howz of Badges (the place you can find Nostalgic Tunes at). Just be warned that you'll have to pay to get 'em back. Around mid-game, a green Ratooey named Lumpy will show up at the docks looking to strike oil in Dry Dry Desert (an area from PM64) and will take investments of 100 coins. Put in as much as you can, because you can triple the funds. This is doable before Chapter 4 and Lumpy will return to the dock in Chapter 6. This is a great way to get money should you need it.

Nintendo supposedly said something about improving fast-travel; perhaps it could make this section (and another notorious one later on) less painful for think it's too much padding?

One thing you may find helpful is to complete the Pit of 100 trials’s firsr 50 levels midway through the game (ie. before Chapter 5), as the 50th level - if it’s same as the original version of the game - will give you the Strange Sack which doubles the amount of items you carry.

The original HAD a postgame. Not a massive one, but a few sidequests that opened up after beating the final boss. People are hoping that this game will pull a Super Mario RPG Remake and have more new content added in.

There really is nothing else to do after the main game besides scoop up whatever collectibles you missed, which is fine, but let's not pretend there was something more than that.

tysk: (i dont remember the exact chapter barrier but after reaching it), the traveling merchant appears in the center of town and sells a rotating stock of powerful items and unique gimmick or cosmetic badges (like locking you into either jumps or hammer in exchange for boosted power). tysk: though it can never permanently block you off, you can gain access to west rogueport earlier if you try to help the toad blocking the entrance when you first see them, but to do so, you will need to return to the shop after putting in the request and finishing the chapter in which you got the quest. To be completely fair, though, it is more a tip for the stages of returning player before mastery, as they are the ones most likely to ignore them until it becomes required. tysk: you can read the back of the sign in front of the rogueport shop to get some lore, flavor text, and hints at more advanced mechanics like stylish timings. of course, there are bound to be more tysks when we see the extent of how the remake changes things, but those were the 3 that came to mind as non-spoiler things about obscured features.

@@phictionofgrandeur2387 yeah, the second was phrased that way specifically to avoid spoilers. you can start the "quest" before chapter 1, but even waiting until it is required, west is unlocked decently early considering the length of the story. If i gave more details, it would get into spoiler territory on the order of events, but the flip side is all the media previews went as far as chapter 3. Restocking the traveling merchant is less relevant than knowing it is unlocked, and only matters if you know exactly what you want but found out he was a merchant too late to naturally re-roll from general exploration.

TYSK: If you press A during certain parts of your attacking animation, you do stylish moves which triple the star power you earn. TYSK: In the original, one of the partners had stylish moves that didn't work properly, but this might be fixed in the remake.

Sorry but nope, not shutting up about General White. I love this game I love the extra fast travel, but I will not excuse a bad gameplay decision to just make you go back through past towns multiple times. Based on it and the fact that the snow areas and moon are very small areas, it's obvious it was done as a padding out of Chapter 7, probably because they were nearing development end and running low on time. If so, it makes sense I get it I still don't like it and would've rather it just not be there at all and you go straight the moon. IT would be faster and weird but it wouldn't be boring and tedious. Please don't ask for people to shut up about good criticism. IT's great they're adding fast travel, but if that quest is still int he game, it will still be annoying just to a lesser extent, which is good but not amazing.

TYSK: Luigi appears after every chapter somewhere around central Rogueport with some cool little sidestory monologues, so be sure to check those out!! That's for the new players, Nin10 C;

This remake looks amazing! I like how they made it so you can switch team members on the fly instead of having to switch team mates by scrolling down the items list to party members and then selecting that option and then selecting the party member you want to switch to on the screen pops up

TTYD is hard if you level up how it was intended rather than just only using badge points, though it can still have the same difficulty as intended if you do other types of upgrades

TYSK Earth Tremor (unless the remake rebalances it) will carry you throughout basically the entire game if you can time it perfectly. At best, it's 6 defense-piercing damage to each opponent on the entire field (including the ceiling if you max out).

TYSK: In chapter 7, if Mario and his partner drop from the ceiling behind a certain curtained area, when they leave the area, they will become pixelated, and the iconic original Mario theme will play.

💯 it. There are bosses that can’t be repeated and you have to get tells on them to fill out the tattle sheet. There’s a lot of secrets in the game. I’ve 💯 it a good few times. Look into the power rush badge setup. It’ll make your paper Mario life easier. Best wishes

​@@ilovetrance3036first of all, ignore the power rush strategy if you're playing for the first time. It's a fun way to break the game but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who's never played it before. If you do happen to miss a tattle (goombellas ability to add enemies to a beastiary) on a boss you can check the bin in Professor franklys house to fill it in. All you miss is Goombellas personal comments.

From the looks of it, it shows the conditions that you need to clear a fight in Glitzville. The box roughly translates to "use a companion's ability at least once", which was a condition absent from the original. We did have ones that prohibited switching partners and don't/only let your partner attack, but nothing about using any of their abilities.

TYSK In the original some enemies have visual cues for when you should guard/superguard. Superguard can be particularly challenging so pay attention. The cue for the spiky goomba for instance is when the spike sort of squishes as it makes contact.

TYSK: Definetly worth practicing stylish moves and using them as much as possible. It fills your star meter faster which allows you to use Star powers more often which are very powerful attacks or free emergency heals.

The stuttering with IGN is likely because thier switch is REALLY old.

TYSK! There is lots of incentive for doing troubles amidst your playthrough. The original had new ones each time you completed a chapter, and some of the rewards are actually incredibly rewarding *wink*

Also TYSK! Back tracking is surely NOT going to just be part of the narrative story. Like most Nintendo Games, as you progress and acquire more abilities - it may be worth going back to previous areas to see what is accessible now

Star power. You get level 1 before you reach any bosses and it helps you recover HP and FP while in a battle. You also recover Star power by performing action commands or selecting the 'appeal' option

I've only ever gotten to play it once when I was little so I'm extremely hype to experience it on the switch. I was in a daycare thing that had a small boxy TV and a GameCube. We mainly played smash on it but we sometimes we got to take turns playing games like TTYD

What is funny: Im german, and the german version the badge for the first boss was always a frog!

the beauty of rpgs like pokemon and paper mario is that you can make the game as challenging as you want to. Go for risky peril strats, or partyless or hammerless... The challenge is how you make it and is very open ended, which adds for pretty much infinite replayability

Tysk you could conbine badges. For example if you are on a hard boss, you could use charge then Mario’s next turn you could use multiple bounce and still get that charge effect and you do massive damage. If you are ever stuck just use goombella. Just like Olivia in Paper Mario The Origami King, she will give out hints. And finally use Yoshi kid is the best partner, give him all the shines to upgrade him to max level.

TYSK- They messed up the battle system unnecessarily. Whenever you initiate a First Strike, you have to wait for the star power that you gained from your attack to fill up your star gauge before the battle begins, even if the star gauge is full. This also happens when the players turn (Mario + partner) is completed, which results in you having to wait until your star power gauge is finished animating before your enemy attacks you. You’re literally just sitting there waiting for that dumb animation to finish every time. Considering there’s like 1000 battles in this game, this is going to get annoying VERY fast and honestly there’s no reason to wait for that. It wasn’t in the original and it shouldn’t be here. Also, the commentator on this vid says “Nintendos not backing down from anything they put in the original game”, welp, that’s wrong. In the Rogueport sewers where you first meet the trio of Goombas, in the original game they were cat-calling Goombella. In the remake they just seethe at Mario and Goombella for being surface dwellers. Not sure if this is a NOA thing or the dialogue is the same in the Japanese version, but yeah, I guess it’s considered too “misogynistic” or something to keep the original dialogue, which is ridiculous. Even Nintendo is going woke now lol. Anyway, the commentator said they’re doing everything perfectly for this remake, but he also mentioned a bunch of stuff they are not in this vid. Let’s not just continue to stroke Nintendos ego so our KZread channel grows, and instead let’s be hyper critical about the games they put out so they know we’re not just drones who gobble up their slop, and thus prompt them to make better games.

The hard mode is equip double pain. I am curious to see what the blocks in the new fast travel room are covering. Of course theyre likely more fast travel pipes but the chapters are all accounted for and there's also the shortcut directly from rogueport so... Where would they go?

I never had the chance to play the original, so this remake makes me so happy. I can finally play this masterpiece and experience it for myself. I am going completly blind to the story as well.

TYSK: I know something about "Fire Emblem Kid". If you go back to him during the other chapters, he says he's now playing Paper Mario, and eventually, he tells you he's playing Thousand Year Door! He even jokes that he wants to see the Luigi side story. So even Nintendo themselves knew. As a matter of fact, all the characters everywhere have new dialogue for every chapter. Even tne ones you have no reason to ever go back to. Insane.

Nintedoland, there is a situation involving DMC from nintendo for the steam workshop items for the game Garry mod, it is on the game news page on steam, A video on this situation could be good to help making people understand what is happening, because there is a posibility that DMCs were sent by a troll, but the garry mod comunity seems confused about if the DMCs are fake or not, the developers of the game says that it real.

I still have the GameCube version. I'm in no rush to buy the remake. Yet the dialogue changes/censorship are unnecessary. There was nothing offensive about the original dialogue. Yet leave it to liberals to get offended by everything. No matter where you go it's almost impossible to avoid woke garbage.

4:30 I don't think a Hard Mode can be fully ruled out JUST yet. Nintendo declining about the game being any harder to me just says it's gonna be same difficulty as it was in the original. However many games, including Dream Team, lock Hard Mode to after beating the game once and while i don't prefer that, IF it's in and that's how you get it, it's why a rep couldn't say anything about it. I'm not saying there definitively will be one, just saying I don't think we are 100% sure yet.

TYSK Upgrade Goombella to Ultra asap Rally Wink is the best move in the whole game 'cuase it gives her turn to mario (Also power rush P is the best badge. Stack a bunch, get Yoshi in peril {that's 1 hp}, use stampede. You will absolutely DECIMATE some fools. combine w/ quick change and you can get yoshi in and out without even putting him at risk of damage) Or you could just ignore that and play the game experimenting with what feels right, that's fun too!

It gives you access to the first special move, sweet treat, which heals up to 7 HP for Mario and the active partner, and 8 FP, at the cost of 1 Star Power.

It's a remake of one of the best Mario RPGs. From Sticker Star up until the Super Mario RPG remake, the Mario RPGs had a massive downfall as the Paper Mario games were very, very, very bad and the Mario and Luigi series started to die. Those two remakes have brought back the style of games that fans want from the Mario RPG games, along with the Nintendo surveys that started to pop up from the internet

@@JamesKennedy-wu7gj in fact people do like the two games that you mention, but it was from Sticker Star onward that people didn't like the Paper Mario games and while the Mario and Luigi series was still liked, sales weren't so good and AlphaDream (the team behind those games) was slowly going bankrupt and was trying to resolve it by doing remakes that weren't particulary famous, especially since the Switch was already popular and the 3DS was basically never used

Maybe to them it is. The original was a GameCube exclusive, and the GameCube was never very popular. (Sure, the Wii was, and you could play GameCube games on the Wii, but how many people knew that?)

Cool video, but one small thing. Even though it's being remade from the ground up, I don't think it should be called a remake. I mean, it's still the exact same game just with better graphics and some enhancements. The story is the same. The dialogue is the same, and the gameplay remains the same as well. If it was a remake, they would probably do something different than the original, but since they didn't, this is more in line with a remaster.

If it’s basically a brand new thing with only the name attached to it, then it’s a reimagining. Take Metroid Samus Returns for example. It has the same story as the original but deviates quite a bit from the original with gameplay mechanics, Ridley showing up at the end, and the introduction of the Diggernaut. Is that more of a remake or a remaster?
