The Power of Perseverance | Michelle Neujahr | TEDxSMCC

Michelle Neujahr had no idea how much she would need the motivational tapes she grew up listening to. Her story of overcoming numerous difficulties and the negative voices in her head that threatened to keep her down will inspire you. Her message teaches us to not give up as she shares her story of perseverance.
Michelle Neujahr is the Director of the Entrepreneurial Center at Southern Maine Community College, where she oversees the business incubator program, leads entrepreneurial initiatives and runs the Launch or Grow Small Business Success Conference. Michelle also brings her passion for entrepreneurship into the classroom, where she serves as a business professor.
Michelle is the founder and president of The Business Renovation Company, a corporate training and business consulting company with clients including 3M, Target and Wells Fargo. She has also owned a seven-figure residential renovation firm and has served on the boards of Women Standing Together, the National Speakers Association and Build a Biz.

Out of all the motivational talks I’ve been listening to at this low point in my life, this is the one that keeps me going. Perseverance is the key !!!! Thanks so much 👍😀

There was never talk about college in my home growing up.I also was a young single mother of 3 children. It was 2002 when I started taking classes, not knowing what I was doing or where I was going. I had taken some gap years and always returned to it. I will graduate with a Bachelors in Health Sciences and minor in Holistic Health this May. It is never too late to be who you want in this life- even if you take the scenic route!

Oh My God I was one of the students in that Marketing Class that night. I was in my 50s going back to college again and this time for me. After hearing Michelle's story I thought to myself "this woman is real". I learned a lot that semester and went on to be the fist one to apply for the incubator program. Thanks to Michelle believing in me and telling me I AM AWESOME I AM UNSTOPPABLE AND I HAVE PERMISSION TO SUCCEED. I now have as my name plate COLLEEN IS AWESOME people call me awesome and when I hear it I smile because I did succeed because I did what I was told I could not and that is to graduate from college. Hearing Michelle speak again brought tears of joy because SHE IS AWESOME and she gave me PERMISSION TO SUCCEED. THANK YOU GIRLFRIEND YOU ARE AWESOME LOVE YOU

I didn't see a problem with sound...but actually the energy in her voice capted me a lot. I was drawing, working, and when I realised I was watching her. It inspired me a lot. Lately got big challenges that scary me and sometimes things don't go super well, sometimes the curve of learning requires more trying than before and everything takes more time to happen, or a good result to show up. This message inspired me a lot! Thank you very much!

I think your story is a powerful one, but you also need to admit that some of those choices of your life were “your” choices. Children, predominately young teens need to get moving and realize the gift of young adulthood is blessing and step for us all. If you want to tell your story for a learning lesson, talk about your mistakes. Perseverance is not a virtue, it is what you do to live this life. Teach that.. best of life’s journey to you!!
