Yes Noise ❤️
as a digital painter, i love noise. great for texture and realism
Noise is also perfect to reduce banding artifacts
Noise is NOICE
true. make some noise for noise.
Noise is really powerful!! Except when are your neighbours doing it!
This is one of the most informative videos you’ve made and it was straight to the point. Thanks! And nice animation in the intro.
Your communication skill is soooo good
Англоязычный CG-специалист с экстенсивной структурированной базой в голове и открытым подходом ко всему в 21:9 - отличный контент, thanks mate
Love this format. It's so useful to have an overview of such a recurring element through different softwares. Need more vids like this !
Awesome video, I love it when cool artists talk about core concepts like this!
For AE users, I recommend Red Giant's Magic Bullet Renoiser! Super useful plugin for emulating all types of naturally-occurring noise patterns.
Amazing video as always, short and compact. Gotta love this man.
One more video! Let's Go! Your videos are really a big motivation
Thanks andrey!!! Your videos are always helpful!
Just watched an amazing vex noise demo by Johannes Richter and then you drop this. It's a dream noise week for me - thanks Andrey :D
Moving from video production to CG noise went from zero to hero real quick.
Thank U for material Andrey, nice to see you more often here 🤘🤘🤘
Mission accomplished. My perception of noise has changed forever. Thanks
Thanks. Helped me a lot!
please make more video essay's on CG topics like these. It was really really informative
You are amazing. Thank you!
This video is such an epiphany for me! Thank you so much, I could never understand noise as a tool for driving effects, but right when I was looking at the grass on the dirt example it all just clicked! It’s the randomness that can drive an effect or texture. I get it now. I think..
Большое спасибо за твои ролики! Жалко, что так редко выходят)
For me it was the moment i started using subtance designer when it finally clicked.
Agreed with this video 100 percent. I used to hate noise but as I started to use it in static cg artworks I realized I no longer had to go mad with high sample counts with rendering as the imperfection still looked impressive in many use cases.
Thanks for sharing this man!
It's also important to note that the little bit of noise that would be realistic, introduced to a 3D render during compositing, will also reduce the compression on youtube and other sites, therefore the video will be better quality. Another added bonus!

Can you elaborate?
@aarongolden
3 жыл бұрын
@@HawksNestYT admittedly I know very little about 3d but in the photography many video world, grain tricks the compression algorithym, into thinking areas of pixels are far different, than they are as the compression process on most platforms, effectivly looks to group similar clusters and compression them, so detail in shadows for instance is often lost. Just a theory but I imagine a similar logic would apply here
@EcripArts
3 жыл бұрын
@@HawksNestYT What Aaron said is basically correct. Say, you have a shadowy area. The colours will all be fairly dark, let's say close to black for this example. KZread will want the video size to be as small as possible, and it can do that by reducing the amount of colours in areas where colours are very similar to each other. So all of those coloured pixels in the shadows (which are very slightly different) will be made into one colour to save data. Then you get blocky video, as you may sometimes see with videos that have a lower colour depth as well. Grain consists of all kinds of different colours. Now, overlay that over the shadow, and KZread can't make out that all of those colours are quite close, because the grain constantly changes the image, and every pixel is a more varied colour than it would be without the grain. And since KZread can't see that it's all kind of the same, it can't reduce the colours. Therefore, better video quality!~ Also it would always be there to some degree in real photography / video, so it adds to the realism too.
Always awesome topics!!
First we push the like button, then we watch. As it is expected that is a top quality content video! :)

May the noise be with you...
Bring the Noise !!!!
Noise is incredible. I love it
Thank you for the great tip! Андрей, this was 100% useful
The thumbnail is so good!
Продолжай в том же духе выпускать ролики!
Thanks Andrey!
wow thank you for this
Great video!
make some noise for noise. throw ya fractal hands up!
wow, thank you for reminding me why noise is used without knowing it for so many years.
I’m sure this is going to be recommended to random people because of the thumbnail, and more people are going to click in to check. But the viewer retention might be low. I watched it till the end though. Thank you. It was very helpful.
This is so right!
Is the lamp on your desk a real object or something you created and added digitally?
I totally agree, it's been years since im using noise to such things !
God damn nuke needs those Maxon noise profiles

noise and vertex maps rocks dude!
Noise video. Keep up!
I love noise (grain). It gives a rich feel to anything.
Good work boss
Стильно так под музычку, оч заходит)
Noice video 👍
Great, i personally use it a lot!!! Thanks!!!
you can use noise for deformation, forces fields and so on already in cinema4d
Facts!
Hi really nice video. But now you made me curious. Can you make a tutorial for compositing cg elements with real life footage ?
As someone who renders volumetrics often in Octane I must say I have a love/hate relationship with noise. :P But as a tool, use it everyday.
Substance designer also has many noises library
Love noise
Зачем я это смотрел? Ведь я даже фотошоп не знаю))) А тебе чувак , удачи, развития и прорывов творческих
Noise is life
If you have gradient banding, use around 1.5-2.0 noise and that will clear that up. Just be careful because noise can cause havoc on compression and once compressed make everything 10X worse.
Noise is the dark matter of cgi
Thanks for the 21:9 aspect ratio man!
Noice video about Noise👊
So many comments about the fireflies jar, looks like this video reached it's target audience 😅 👏
I wish you would do a tutorial about camera placement & composition for professional render(vfx).
Hello Andrew, I'm a huge fan of you and your art, thanks for all the tips and tricks and tutorials. I need help please, I rendered out a multipass out of C4D R25, and after compositing, I realized the element was transparent so I figured the alpha wasn't there only to realize, my alpha was gray, please what might have gone wrong in C4D? but then I re-rendered only the beauty with png extension and the alpha was white. but it was gray in the multiEXR AOVs file
Indeed
You're the best
That’s Noise!

You actually can use the Maxon noises to drive geo inside Houdini ;-)
Hey man. What do you think about getting the new raze blade 14 for alot of cinema 4d work? Im currently on the same rout as you, started with a macbook pro and now in the need for a stronger machine that I can use on the go.

Have you got a video on how you incorporate Noise into effects?
I know I can do something with noise, but "how" is the question .... 1:44 this type of noise that I already understand 0:40 this type of noise that I still don't understand

Which is why it's not an Andrew Kramer's tutorial without Fractal Noise lol. But for real, so many practical effects can be made just from some simple noise.
