Was that lecture interesting to me? I used to teach this stuff at a college over ten years ago, and I was glued to the screen Andrey! Your clarity and animation of the concepts, comes together to make this a real gem for people struggling with this stuff. So well done. If I still had CG students, I'd have them all subscribed to your channel!

Hi, i was making a video on ray tracing implementation in commercial games. Looking for reference animation and images, I stumbled here. Unbelievable man, those animations and the way you explained, TOP NOTCH!!!. I would be happy to use some of them over my commentary, if its okay with you and ofcourse with credit. The best explained, i have gone through almost all of them around.

This is the most simple yet comprehensive explanation of this topic that I've seen yet! In fact, this is one of the best explanations about anything that I've seen. It's Amazing! You're Amazing! The visualization of the concepts being explained were a very big help, thank you for taking the time to explain this topic to us!
You are easily in the top 3 of my all time inspirations on youtube. I can see your passion in every bit of your videos which motivates me so much to push my limits as a self taught video producer. Thank you!
I have watched dozens of videos explaining those concepts. This is the first time EVER that a single video explains Ray Tracing and Rendering Methods in a simple and clear way. Looking forward for the next one Andrey!
Well explained, easy to understand. Thank you.
The beauty in your work gives me a lot of inspiration
Wow, mad props for taking the time creating something this well produced with really beautiful visuals and very clear on point explanations as well, and also making it available for free. For sure want more of this type of content , I'm currently working on creating my own path tracing rendering engine and have been struggling with a bug in the code for a few days, and this ended up being some really good needed motivation and inspiration to keep working at it.
man I even sent this to my friends to watch, this is insane. One of best vids on the internet. Thank so much for the effort. subscribed

Thank you so much for this. Production quality and great explanation! Keep up the great work!
The production quality of this video is off the charts. I watch this guy to learn, but also to see what is the goal I am working towards. Absolutely inspiring stuff.
Wow. It is impressive how much effort you've invested in this video! Also I love how easy you explain this kind of topic and not over complicate the details. I will share this video with my renderslaves at work. :)
this is the most artistically put together lesson I've ever seen.
Perfect, Andrey - you're an exceptionally gifted teacher, too.
I was thinking why there is no one explaining this and then I came to your video. Give this man a medal, best video I watched on 3D light explaination.
I knew only the very basics when a friend asked "Ray tracing?" when me and someone else talked about the 2080/2080 Ti performance and prices, so I found this and gave him. Such a great video to explain and shot how it works! Great work!
awesome production quality, thanks for so deep information!
Love how you "effortless" made the glass sphere pop up reflecting your own environments, and the glass jar in the back with magic lights in it all through the video :D Informative and nice - and extra kudos for Doom clip :D

From what I know, a UV map is the exact same polygons you have in your mesh .. but in a 2D flat arrangement (hence U and V coordinates opposed to X, Y and Z). Of course this will always stretch/contort your polygons, since you can not properly display a 3D mesh flattened down to 2D (like topographic maps of the world). The trick is to select a projection method that works for you (from the top, "smart" etc). You can also manage it manually to move whatever vertices to your liking. You can usually also tell the 3D program to break up the 3D mesh at specific "seams" so you can more smartly get the 3D mesh into a 2d display (imagine cutting up a 3D model of a microphone with scissors, cutting off the cylinder below, then cutting up the sphere above along a proper line etc ... this helps the UV automatism to create nicely arranged 2D meshes of your 3D mesh. And finally, a 3D program will allow you to manage the texture of your material across the UV map, so you can decide where you put what image detail onto your mesh. In short: Imagine meshed kitchen sieve, your 3D mesh. Smash it with your fist into a flat thing without any overlaps, that's your UV map :)

cool tutor, and cool particle transitions, is it AE or finalcut?
@denethv8530
6 жыл бұрын
Andre Yurenkov I think It's Ae and Can be easily done with MotionBro transition packs
Historically, raycasting didn't use an array of millions of rays, it only used one for each horizontal pixel, and textures were stored as vertical lines, which were stretched depending on their distance from the "camera". In DOOM, there was also a height map which determined how high up the screen the textures would be drawn. This is why you cannot look up or down in DOOM or Wolfenstein 3D, but it allowed early 3D games to be made and was much easier than early rasterisation techniques.
Honestly the best explanation of rendering I've heard. Thank you!!!
Oh my god this was awesome. Feeling like I hit the gold with the quality of your video. Thank you!
