I'm proud to say that the main reason I started playing drums was because I watched Stewart Copeland play.

Those 80s striped tube socks (OK, late 70s here)! But serrious.... this is just pumping. Stewart just throws the beat forward, Sting is on pointl, plays a great bass line that plays great with Stewart, and Andy with his colorful guitar parts, playing off the reggae rhythms in the verses. It's just lit. Everything about this performance is fire. I mean, look at Stewart having fun back there!!

Probably my favorite tune off of Outlandos. Yeah the sound of the Police without backing I always thoughts was lacking as did he. Which explains why he brought in horns in 82, and the ladies in 83. It's a shame Andy and Stewart sucked at singing. I love this tune in Police around the world In Hong Kong. Police in 2007/8 he had backing vocals piped in. And personally it doesn't bother me. Makes it sound better.

I'm not surprised this has few views. I listened to it. The problem with The Police is that they relied heavily on harmonies on their recordings, but all the voices were Sting's overdubbed. So none of their songs sound quite right when they play live. And without his vocal multitracking, Sting doesn't really have much of a voice. Loved their early albums, but never enjoyed hearing their live takes.

+Dave Spagnol This has always been my favorite Police song, but this live version just isn't doing it - for exactly the reasons you give. Sting's bass lines are also way better on the original.
