same just the amount of nostalgia of playing the kanto region again. I originally bought it for a split screen game me and my girlfriend could play but I have been enjoying it so far it is different that the wild pokemon battles are the pokemon go approach kinda wish you had the option to battle a wild pokemon with your pokemon

It's funny that it's such a common complaint (affecting some reviews as well) when the game *tells* you, even if it's briefly. There's still certain actions unavailable (some of the Pokedex feature come to mind) but the game is perfectly playable, if a little uncomfortable for some people.

Usually. It works in most situations. But in a battle you can normally press Y to see move details, and waggling the ball just does not work.

For some reason though it only works in certain situations. I can't get it to work during battles when I want to check a move description. You lose some functionality but I still think it's the best way to play the game, you'll just have to know what your moves do.

@@changolord93 no, the cries are stored in the same format of the songs, with one byte defining the instrument - which plays the sound. Pokemon are each tailored to their own. The list follows in order starting with Rhydon at 001. The cries were not random 'then'

The biggest secret behind the Pokeball plus is that it doesn't just come with Mew. It comes with Missing No. as far as I'm concerned as I'm only at mount moon and had 35 Rare Candies THIRTY FIVE!

This is the only review of the pball plus that has made me want one

Oh, and to help with the orientation thing, that’s why they included the little ring with the wrist strap. You wear it on your finger like an actual ring, and it prevents the Pokeball from rotating as much. Though it’s not a perfect solution. I also have really tiny hands, so it may be uncomfortable for someone with bigger hands to use.

This accesory is much better than the Pokemon Go Plus from Nyantic, mostly because is a GOD DAMM LITTLE POKEBALL IN YOUR HAND

@@InfinityReptar it did have a screen and more you could do out and about but it didn't double as a controller for the game and if it was lost the pokemon was lost with it, I love that the plus allows the pokemon to still be used and gain experience form both the game and plus. Oh and you can gain more than 1 level per stroll unlock with the stupid restriction on pokewalker

I had no interest in the Pokeball Plus, but now I want one.

I've currently got the Bulbasaur from Cerulean City in mine. Eevee even came with me when I took my kids to see the lights at the zoo. Better believe I carried that PokeBall Plus loud and proud.

Your remark about the lack of bump is spot on. With that said, when I started playing Pokemon switch, I found myself trying to use the Joycon sideways, and obviously found out that the orientation was wrong because of the way that the movement stick is orientated. Theses things are supposed to have motion controls in them, so it would have been possible to program the orientation to adjust itself based on how it's held.

I work at a restaurant doing deliveries, if I had the Pokeball plus I could level up my Pokemon in Lets Go so fast

Absolutely love this thing. My only complaint is that it can be pretty easy to accidentally select the wrong option in menus, and this includes choosing the wrong moves in battles from time to time.

Herschel Johnson I have had the same issue as well with my hand cramping. I've resorted to holding the ball like a controller with both hands after about 20 minutes with my dominate hand supporting the back of the pokeball and pressing the joysick button while my other hands index finger presses the back button. Doesn't fix the issue with catching pokemon though.

Mine came with the Switch + Let's Go bundle I bought. I assumed it would be little more than a quirky toy, but I'm super impressed! I think one of my favourite things about it is actually the size and weight. It FEELS like what I imagine a shrunken Pokeball from the anime to feel like. And playing with a stored Pokemon inside it feels genuinely real because of this. About the only thing which could improve the feel of it, at least where realism is concerned, would be if it had a plastic or metal casing rather than the rubber. (Though it's probably much more robust with the materials they've used.)

Brings memories back from the pokewalker!!!!!!! I love that thing

My main reason for buying lets go is the nods to heartgold/soulsilver. Following pokemon, the pokeball, I love it. I just wish I could turn off the damn motion controls, and battle pokemon if I want to.

StormWarning if you play with it in handheld mode you might like that. If not, set it on a table and leave the joy-cons attached. Then you can aim for the center every time. But the motion controls are fun when you get the hang of them.

I was already very impressed with this Pokeball controller but I've learnt a lot more about it from this video and I'm just stunned! Thing that impressed me the most was how much functionality there is behind a minimalist design.

Shit man, you didn't even mention that the speaker on the pokeball interacts with tons of sounds in Let's Go. It makes the experience that much more immersive.

Yeah, the thing is packed choke full with stuff. Also, you will not regret buying it when you take your partner for a stroll first time, and he/she calls out to you from inside at some point. Also, apparently it's way better to catch pokes with it. Yesterday I did play with joycon for a change, and boiiii, the balls sometimes went ballistic for no goddarn reason. Now I understand why ppl complain about motion sensor stuff xD

I was already planning on getting this, mostly to use as a pokéwalker. But this video made me so much more excited to get it. I work in retail where I constantly walk around for 8 hours a day. I can’t wait to mac level up my Eevee in a day lol

I just got my pokeball plus today, which I bought purely for Mew to complete my collection. But I like the idea of taking them for walks. I can't play Pokémon Go since my phone doesn't have the space and don't use my data except in emergency. But being able to take them for walks means I have an incentive to go out walking even though I'm not hunting for Pokémon. :)

What breaks my heart about this game is the fact that it's so much easier than the original, despite being just a slightly improved copy. Yes, it's a kid's game, but so was Red/Blue/Yellow and FireRed/LeafGreen. How stupid are kids nowadays that they need everything to be spoonfed? If I was a kid, I'd feel insulted... Maybe that's my problem. Maybe it's that I still remember the other games. And no, it's not that I'm 20 years older now... I checked that out. Blue/Red (and even LeafGreen/FireRed) were more difficult. It's the game.

They have always been easy. Red, blue, leaf green, silver, heart gold, black, white 2, Y, Sun, whatever other one, they are all super easy story modes, with super simplistic stories. You remember the other games as harder because you were a kid when you played, that's all. If anything, building viable competitive pokemon was harder, because the IV/EV systems and how you can interact with em was simplified in almost each consecutive generation, but that's a good thing: breading/training a competitive team was boring and tedious at the start, and you need to pass this barrier to really get to the real meat of pokemon, for an adult anyway: the amazing PVP.

fun fact is, Pokémon games were NEVER hard. Never. Just look at the moveset of Elite 4 Pokemons in Red and Blue. Some Pokémon had only 3 moves, others had terrible moves. Blue's Arcanine had EMBER, Exeggutor had Hypnosis, Stomp and Barrage, Rhydon had Tail whip, fury attack, stomp and Leer, and Bruno was just a complete joke. And don't even let me start with the TERRIBLE AI. Gold and Silver had the lowest level elite 4 of all time, Lance had barely level 50 pokemons. The only games that were acutally a bit more challenging were D/P/Pt and B/W and their sequels.

Very good and informative video, Wulff! All of these things you talked about were things that I was wondering about and searched around the web for at some point. But you compiled them into one video and a definitive source of info and guide for all new owners of the PokéBall. Cheers!

I bought one for my Let's go experience and Pokemon Go and I bought one for my wife when she plays Pokemon Go. Super excited to play them both next week on vacation!

Catching pokemon with it is very satisfying, taking a pokemon for a walk is OP though. I brought a magikarp to work and when I got home it had gained 13 levels and evolved...a little TOO much, especially when my main problem with the game is how easy the trainer battles are. There are real balance issues. I bought the game knowing what it was, but too many of the trainer battles are over in 1 hit. Aside from the pokeball plus I have done no level grinding, yet I'm still over-leveled for most battles (even those new battles with the trainers that are supposed to be "challenging"). And sadly even the gyms. I ran through Brock and Misty with a level 10-15 Bellsprout. When you become over-leveled when doing even the bare minimum, that's a balance problem. So while the pokeball plus is really cool, and the idea of leveling up is great, with the game already being so unbalanced in favor of the player, I almost don't WANT to take pokemon for walks because I'm already too strong as it is. I get it's about the catching, but I had hoped the battles we did get would tide me over. In pokemon Go, there's a benefit to catching tons of pokemon, because resources gained from sending them to the professor are huge. Here, eventually you can send them to the professor too, but then you get a bunch of candies to strengthen pokemon that are already too strong, so I struggle to understand why I need or want to catch 15 pidgeys. All of these problems will become strengths in the endgame when my focus will be battling other real people, at least. And I still enjoy the game for being such a nice looking revamp of the gen 1 games I grew up with, so thankfully I can still find something to like here. And once I get a phone that can run Pokemon Go, the pokeball plus functionality there seems pretty cool. TL/DR The pokeball plus itself is the highlight of the game here, it does so much cool stuff. And I do find catching pokemon with it and getting good throws to be strangely satisfying.

A suggestion that I’m doing with my game is from the start (or wherever you are now lol) try to literally catch them all; at least in my case, yes my eevee is still OP but I like having half of my party slots dedicated to leveling up mons that I want to evolve, I feel that it makes the game a lot more interesting and strategic on who you want your three main team members to swap around for training weaker mons. Another thing I’ve done, and just to point out you don’t gotta do any of this honestly but it adds a little more challenge, is not allow yourself to use any items in trainer/gym battles. It can bump up the stakes a bit more than just spamming potions till you’re good. Anyways just have fun!

I actually didn't realize the shaking was Y! I learned a thing thanks to you. I've had difficulty pairing it to my phone, but I love my poke ball. I got it so I could take my pokemon on walks like I did with the pokemon walker as a kid, but I find that I put it around my waist and mime throwing it a lot. I enjoy the motion...and that also helps the EXP so much. SO MUCH. Plus, it's going to be a great addition to my cosplays.

Thank you so much. I searched for how the poke ball plus works because I couldn't figure out how to back out of petting my starter. Your channel, this video, is the only one that had all the answers I was looking for.

The big trade off for me is that I like to take a lot of screenshots and captures, which you can't easily do with the ball...tip: the capture button on your docked joycon will still work, if you're like me and play games at a computer desk so its reachable

I got switch in the mail yesterday and I love worth the money

My personal rules to make the game a decent difficulty: - Change pokemon changing type from Switch to Set (obviously) - Catch only 1 of each Poke (unless you find a shiny) - No using TM's - No using Starter (they still follow you btw) - (Now) No using Stroll on Pokémon that form your Party to raise them beyond the rest of your team. - Don't buy Pokéballs, they give you more than enough - When heading into a dungeon or Gym, use only 6 Pokémon with no healing or transferring to your Box in between fights. - At a gym, Saving is only allowed at the beginning. Think of the Gym as a Gauntlet - Gym Leader Battles should be done with the same amount of Pokémon as the Leader to make it feel like an actual battle you would have irl. Type advantage discouraged. Box use to shorten Party only is allowed - In general only use the Center when you get to the City and after a Leader/Boss fight. - Only use the Box in Towns or civilian areas where there are no wild encounters. - If your Pokémon faints, remove from Party. This way you can only use what you have, and what you catch atm. They can come back to your party in Town though. - No healing items. You don't use these in pvp Battles....so....yeah. HOWEVER, if a d***head enemy uses Full Restore feel free to use one equivalent of that >:P I expect the game will still be easy like this, but it's more enjoyable to me this way. Gives a better sense of strategy and less guilt over cheesing it. (Edit: Works wonders for me so far)

DDub 64 I haven't completed the game as it's not the only game I'm playing you know. Of what I've played, these rules have enhanced my experience. "I expect" means that I predict that these rules should carry this level of enjoyment or go beyond my current level of enjoyment for the rest of the game (becoming Champion, I might count completion as catching all Legendaries.) I don't know what you're confused about. I obviously meant that I expect the *rest of the game* will be just as fun. :/

So, actually, the game tells you when you check the controls on the Pokeball that shaking the controller opens the settings menu. I just took the extra time to read how to use it, and noticed that the settings menu opens with the Y button. Just check More Details and make the connection.

By the way, most places I’ve seen talk about playing with your Pokémon in the Poke Ball Plus mention using the control stick. There are at least two other ways that use the motion sensors inside - you can do a hard shake (Pikachu doesn’t like this sometimes) or put it down on a flat surface and do a gentle circular motion on the top button - kinda like you’re rubbing Pikachu on its head. They tend to like this more than the hard shake.

Bob please never get rid of that song that starts right after the intro. You might remember I asked about it on twitter a while ago. Just please never get rid of it, it's amazing and suits your videos perfectly.

People crying that it's "too easy" forgot that pokemon yellow wasn't hard. No EV training, no breeding, just put pokemon to sleep and catch them. You even didn't had to aim properly while you gotta throw your pokeball straigt in let's go. I just hope people will eventually back off on that "it's too easy" crap. We knew exactly what the game would be, and we knew it wouldn't be a new iteration on the pokemon genre, just a simple remake of the old game.

Opening with "this is a kids game" probably isn't the best idea. I'd maybe say something like "this is a game for all ages so it's not hard..." But that's just the PC unoffending way of putting it. I like my pokeball plus but I wish I could switch the top button to A and the control stick to B. I will go to press something and accidentally push slightly off center and now I'm clicking on something I didn't want. Also the size kinda sucks. I have large hands so extended play with it can cause my hand to cramp up but that takes a couple hours and if I'm playing that long it probably best that I put it down.

It is a game made for children, though. That's why it's so easy to get to credit roll. And why the main character is a child.

Great vid! You eloquently covered EVERY thought I've had playing with this thing the past couple weeks. Concur 100% and 5-stars for your deliver!

Favorite thing about it: It reminds me of this rubbery sort of Pokeball I had as a kid in the '90s/early '00s that I got from this Japanese restaurant/grocery store that had an upper level filled with imported anime themed toys. I loooved that damn thing. Also reminds me of the first pokewalker that came out with Heart Gold. Yeah - just the feeling of nostalgia this thing brings.

Haven’t played video games since Halo 3. Haven’t played Pokémon since Gold Version I love this damn game and I might drop $50 on a ball

The controller is going to be compatible with future games in the series and has a lot of functionality with Go and Let's Go (also you're able to play any game on your Switch with it, results may vary)

Chansey hunting is more effective, if you are through the game. In the cave where Mewtu spawns you can catch many of them. But I mean... walking is a good method too xD

Its of great quality and I love it, my biggest qualm is that when i try selecting things a slight tilt causes you to select another option causing me to pick the wrong move or making me not learn a new skill I want.

If you dont play pokemon go or dont plan on playing the online unrestricted , then dont get it. If you want the ball just for pokemon go then do it! I don't see a competitive point in using the ball in LETS GO whatsoever unless you want to participate in the massive community grind WAR for rare candies! which isnt necessary bc you can play normal mode which is much more balanced. but feel free if you want to grind out 200 rare candies for all the legendary and hyper rare pokes on the pokeball by walking, your just getting mostly lopsided bad match-ups online for way more of a grind, not a good trade off there

My Let's go pikachu Switch bundle comes in the mail tomorrow! Your video made me even more excited for it. I like Pokemon Go but I dont currently play due to my temporary location, but that could change soon! Excellent review!

Worth mentioning is that for Pokemon Go you need normal pokeballs to catch. When you have none it won't capture anything and flash red. At the beginning I thought it does not work correctly bc I usually delete normal pokeballs. Now I delete great balls instead (and keep my precious ultra balls).

First, eat it literally everyone Edit: the Pokemon go app now has the option to track steps even with the app closed, does the pokeball work in that mode?

ELEXCEER if you haven’t already played the original sun and moon I’d deffinetly reccomend ultra sun or ultra moon. In my opinion they’re some of the best Pokemon games. Great region and a great story

Harry Georgiou except Usum practically ruined the story of SM which was way better. The story implementation was awkward when I first played usum. Like nothing seemed to be building up to the climax in any way.

The postgame content is actually no joke, some of the 153(?) master trainers are really hard, i would say some of the hardest trainers i have met in any pokemon games(maybe it is becuse you are using the same Pokemon against the same Pokemon :P But if you just by it for the main story and missions, then Yes it is very simple!

did you notice that when you catch a pokemon in lets go the light that comes on around the c pad changes color depending on the pokemon

You can also get species specific candy, which is the most efficient way to power them up. Particularly useful for the rare pokemon

I never had a Pokéwalker (I own a used SoulSilver) so this feature is incredible. I love it.

Can You only get the Pokeball plus from the Let's go Version of the switch?

It's a bit sad that walking around with a 50$ extra accessory lets you level up. It's such a terrible idea and it affects the game play way too much...

All it affects is online battles however if you have your Pokémon set to level 50 by default it really doesn't make a difference

I’ve had mine for a little bit and bought a clear protector case, painted it white and have added wood glue to it so I make sure it stays oriented in my hand correctly. If I could attach a pic, I would be able to show you here

Put the bump or "pimple" at north on the thumb sick. I feel that would be best. Simple and keeps the designers idea and fact that pokéballs are smooth almost all round true but, it also maintains orientation. Now there's an idea 🤔
