Asrar-ul-Haq Majaz Lakhnavi (1911 - 1955) was part of the Progressive Writers Movement in India, and one of the most celebrated Urdu poets of the 20th century.
This poem - Etiraaf (Confession) - is a searing example of the authenticity that characterized all of Majaz' poetry. It also demonstrates the beauty of his languange and the lyrical romanticism for which he is best known, though here it is used in the painful context of a regretted love.
