These past streams of Palace 6 had over 1600 people watching live on Twitch. I've NEVER had that many people in there before for any variety game in the past 5 years... Massive Persona 5 pancakes 🥞

In the original, i didn't hear the conversation about pancakes as i was making food, with the cutscene playing in the background. But one thing i noticed was a BIG clue that happens when the culprit killed Okumuras shadow. I noticed that the culprit was lefthanded, so on pure instinct, i started looking at every single character in the game, and noticed that only Akechi was lefthanded! Royal points this out during your pool game with Akechi early on, but the original had no mention of it being important, and the game never brings it up at all. So when it was time to decide who the culprit was, i guessed Akechi purely because of his lefthandedness... I brought this up in a forum, and others apparently also made the same observation, so when Royal ACTUALLY made it a clue, we kinda liked to think that it was posts like ours that made them add the pool scene to Royal, to both make the clue more obvious, while also giving a nod to those of us who figured out the truth this way, instead of the dev intended one with the pancakes comment.

For me, it was the walking animation. Akechi has a very unique, almost awkward way of walking, and in the short cutscene where the black mask kills Okumura's shadow we see he uses the same animation. I immediately knew after that

The Whims of Fate, Shadow Sae and the entire Akechi scene is just a back to back series of events that everyone remembers their first time with lol. Definitely the best stretch of the game in terms of memorability. JC definitely took Shadow Sae's design slightly more logically than Jr Rizzo did though lol

I promise you most people aren’t watching live. He streams very late for most people in North America because he’s on the west coast. The last stream with the reveal was thankfully a day stream so lots of people caught it.

I'm not sure if someone told you this during stream, but after the entire explanation on how they bamboozled Akechi and you have "free" roam around your room before going to bed. If you talk to Futaba, she actually info dumps *every* plot hole and how they patched it to make the plan work. Her explanation is really good

The best part about revealing that everyone was onto Akechi forever ago is that the way they found out, through Akechi reacting to pancakes and unknowingly showing his hand, is something that any player could also pick up on with what they know at the time, but NOBODY catches it because its such a throwaway dialogue.

One of my favourite pancake reactions is from some of the va's from the game. Max (Ryuji's va), Robbie (Akechi's va), and Ray (subway announcer) played through the start of the game twice and both times, that scene was hilarious. The first time, Ray was like "Wait, that's it? That's the pancake line?" And Robbie basically went on about how it's the best line ever. The second time, they just sped the end of that scene to annoy chat.

Exactly, and that's part of why this twist works so well. The game leaves breadcrumbs for you that are not only easy to miss, but are purposely contradicted by the ability to raise his Confidant as well as Morgana suggesting to try and befriend him. The game flat out tells you that Akechi is the real villain, and makes you feel stupid for not realizing it right away.

They also don’t really react to it in the moment. Only Morgana and Joker really notice and they talk about it in a scene you don’t get to see immediately. It’s the fact that they’re so nonchalant about it and at that point you’d be used to the characters hearing Morgana that you don’t even question it. It’s a really good twist.

@@3nowStorm Hell, on my first playthrough, I missed it because I thought "Wait, did anyone other than Morgana mention pancakes?". And because this is such a long game and that the scene happens very early on, you end up forgetting it by the time Akechi joins you.

@2:06:50 I noticed it immediately, but also didn't because I gaslit myself. I didn't double check the script log or anything, which would've cued me in. I was like "Weird, I thought only Morgana said pancakes but I guess Ryuji or Ann must've repeated it" and moved on, oblivious to the fact that I'd noticed a key detail. But for me, I was always suspicious of just how much he looks like Light Yagami from Death Note, and Joker even resembles L. Then the game gives me a party member with 2 Instant Kill spells... the only ally rocking multiple elements, Light and Dark at that, and I was like "Okay yeah it's 100% this guy."

To be fair, the bad ending makes no sense at all when you consider the fact that we've been telling Sae the truth of everything that happened up until this point so how would she not already know that our friends are involved? Obviously selling out your friends = bad but when you really think about it it wouldn't really make a difference.

Since technically Joker was the only one physically caught they don't really have any hard evidence of the other's involvement. I dunno, could kinda make sense?

Detail i noticed. The song that hit right after Akechi says his pursuit of Justice is personal is called "Confession/Secret" which is pretty appropriate considering its the first time he lowers his mask even a little bit in the main story (Confidant not included). And to people other than Joker no less.

Most of us watching the playthrough have been hyped up for this moment for SO LONG and it was WORTH THE WAIT!!!

After 1 year i never thought we would finally get to this part hehehehehe! LETS GOOOOOOOO!

TBF JC, iirc you did pick up on Akechi mentioning pancakes in that scene, you said something like "he's already been to the metaverse, he knows", you just completely forgot about that by the time when he joins the team. So you didn't realise that the stuff he told them during the festival wasn't lining up with that previous scene. The game is purposefully long enough so that even if you pick up on the pancake detail at the time you're unlikely to remember it when it counts. It makes the characters also seem all the smarter.

It's kinda rare but when it does there isn't much you can do about it lol.

Meanwhile, I accidentally cheesed Sae. The physical attack she does that hits everyone destroyed my team. It was my first persona game and I played it on hard. So after another attempt, I put physical repel on all my members to block the attack for that one move. Didn't expect to one-shot her when she was over half health...

I have no idea if JC will see this but literally being honest im a person who tends to be busy pretty much through out the day, but watching JC brings me Joy not only be with each video he got closer to the end but the excitement and the pure enjoyment he gets from playing this game is the same way i felt when i played persona 5 and persona 5R for the first time and when i played it up until the end, so these streams literally bring me back to those times and remind myself to enjoy the times i can sit and just watch JC play P5R but also just to play games on my own list. Literally i hope you do a stream for persons 3 reload because ive been playing it since the launch date and im sure you would enjoy the story line.Keep up the videos JC 🫡🫶🏼

Between Morgana's line and Akechi's entrance, they actually had a few lines of dialogue between the other characters to space it out a bit so that you had your mind on the conversation they were having rather than who mentioned pancakes. Not a foolproof method, but clever enough to trick quite a few more observant people like you.

I would say this was a surprise but I played Persona 4 before I played this so I had my guard up around Akechi for the whole game. Not to mention there were a few red flags. Early on he actually accidentally heard Morgana and I picked up on that. Second he actually used a silenced pistol just like when we saw the black figure take out Haru's father with a silenced pistol. Plus he was menacing at times. Makoto and Futaba were the mvp's of that whole operation. Futaba best girl. Fight me. Makoto is a close second though

Nijima arc let’s go!!! This is my favorite arc in the entire game!!!

Gambling is strictly prohibited in Japan, that's why you wont see casinos like Sae's Palace anywhere in that country. Little bit of info to let those who know the law know that something isn't normal seeing a casino for the opening. That doesn't mean that there are no gambling places in Japan, they just are clever with how they do it. Pachinko parlors, a prominent gambling house in Japan, circumvent these laws by making you buy small metal balls that you use on their machines for a chance to get more balls. In order to get returns for your run though, the number of balls you have can be used to buy coresponding prices which are mostly various nicknacks or other useless items. What you do to get money from those prizes is to go to the nearby pawnshop, usually controlled by the Panchinko Parlor as well, and exchange those prizes for actual money. As you aren't gambling with or for getting more money, it circumvents the anti gambling law that they have.

Kasumi taking over as protagonist would have been CRAZY! It's a thought in the same vein as "maruki is the rival" which I was convinced of until the akechi reveal, it's an awesome idea but can't happen for reasons you'll understand later

Let's gooo, peak arc fr. It's so good that I'm going to watch the whole vid even though i already saw it all on stream

In the stream you seem to have been confused of what took place, so this is the chronological order. 1. Sae interrogated Joker in the real world. 2. Sae took the phone, and met with Akechi in the hall on her way out. She showed the phone, and both enter the metaverse. (Futaba remotely activated the nav app on the phone) REMEMBER THIS HALLWAY. Remember, you leave the metaverse when you go back to the place you entered from. This was explained during Kamoshida arc. Remember they threw out Ann the first time she followed them into the Palace by taking her back to the back alley? 3. Akechi walked to the interrogation room and assassinated the guard and Joker, in the metaverse. They existed there BECAUSE Sae was there just moments ago. They are her cognition. 4. Akechi starts walking back to the hallway. Akechi is returned to the real world because HE PASSES THE HALLWAY he entered from. 5. Futaba, as Alibaba, instructs Sae to go back to the interrogation room (using a prerecorded voice stored on Joker's phone). She passes the hallway where she entered metaverse on the way, and is RETURNED to the real world. This is why the guard and Joker she sees is real. It's actually not at all complicated if you understand the order of events.

I really enjoy how they did this entire arc. They hatched a scheme, but didn't count on the truth serum messing with your memory. The entire game up until this point has been you retelling/remembering the past events, waiting for it to wear off so you remember what you have to do here. If you failed any of the previous deadlines, Sae would comment on your memory being unreliable because obviously you 'did' win in time because it has already happened, and heads off. Too soon for your memory to come back and you get killed for reals by Akechi then. The only way is to remember/play the story as it's meant to be, so you can give the phone and enter the metaverse to prevent your death. Such an interesting plot

Our boy, JC getting a heart attack every other scene change is kinda funny. Mostly cause its very relatable around this point of the game. And things will just keep getting crazier. I look forward to it. Also, regarding Akechi: People like plenty of awful characters, ethically speaking. For goodness sake, people are fans of Walter Sullivan from Silent Hill 4, so there's no surprises there.

Honestly, I believe that the gameplay itself kinda leans into the storytelling with Sae's boss fight. Yes you absolutely got lucky with her hitting Almighty and that gave you a near free pass, but it's a little more than that. Each of the palace rulers had something that made them ultra powerful, at least in universe. Kamoshida had the students under his thumb, Okumura had his legions of workers ect... each saw PEOPLE as something other than people. Sae never had her cognition be so far gone that she saw others as anything but themselves. The only thing that changed was her transformation into a heartless monster. Though, small detail on your talk of Sae. It's not that the Theives weren't successful. They never had any intent on taking her desires. They still needed her Palace in place, as the interrogation room was just within its influence. It's a bit of subtext so I hope you don't mind...

The best way to hide your crime, is looking for the suspect, you're one of the first ones getting the clues, and can go back to the scene of the crime without looking suspicious Well, that works better if you work on the field...

Ever since the last arc, I got twitch and have been watching every vid there to see the reactions because this arc is great and the reactions are even better. Sadly I only managed to catch one live but that’s ok. (It was the boss fight one, also yes I downloaded twitch just for you because your reactions and commentary are amazing) Also I know I said the Futaba arc was my favourite but, this one is also like really close because of everything that happens, especially because this game being replayed is so much different. Like in this arc it’s revealed about how Sae is all about winning and you can see that in her character throughout the game, I love it.

I've been a Persona fan for years and it's fun seeing new people experience it for the first time but watching this it just hit me that when we have our duel against Akechi they played Blooming Villain😅(The Boss Theme) that definitely should've gave you a major hint💀 now that I see this again I'm stunned at the foreshadowing

That last stream started near the beginning of my shift at work, so I thought I missed it. Later that night I remembered and went to see if you were still playing. I happened to tune in right when you were running around in the back rooms, replaying the intro. It was amazing timing to see your amazing reaction to the climax of this arc.!

First upload of your Persona play through I've actually experienced as a new fan! Since I've fallen back into a Persona binge myself too it's really fun to see someone engage with one of my favorite games of all time completely blind! You've said previously that sometimes you feel the pressure to go live to finish the game but I hope you at least are able to keep enjoying it!

Been loving the P5 playthrough JC! I gotta say, even if you uploaded variety stuff on this channel, I'd definitely still watch. Hard to find long playthroughs like this anymore, and they're totally my jam!

When I first played through the original persona 5, I was super sus of Akechi for a very long time, up until he actively joined us and for some reason I let my guard down. The massive plot twist and the extent they took it to, plus the aftermath absolutely BLEW ME AWAY

JC was so attentive, but I was very surprised when he didn't notice the pancakes line. I caught it on my first playthrough that he heard Morgana and my Persona vet friend was like "Welp sh*t" and I instantly knew before my friend said that he was the rival, maybe its just my experience that I expected it from him but my god I love that little detail so damn much.
