And here it is everyone... The ENDING of Persona that lied to me. I thought this was genuinely the end of the playthrough until well.. The game didn't end?? LOL. All jokes aside, this one was such a crazy moment for me. So many of my theories leading to godlike beings and forces way larger than any of us ever thought. It's so dang cool. An interesting thing about Igor. The original Japanese voice actor for him tragically passed away before work on P5 began. And then the creators of the game decided to basically use the fact that they needed new voice actors for Igor as an advantage. Because it was obvious they were going to get a new voice actor for Igor so when fans of the series started playing P5 and hearing the new voice of Igor, they just accepted that that was just a new voice and would never of thought that was an imposter. It’s just brilliant because it any other time it would have been noticeable. And then when the real Igor finally reappears he sounds very similar to the original VA.

Here’s something that might make the twist even better in a way. It turns out the tragically the original Japanese VA for Igor passed away before P5 was in production. So the writers decided to use the fact that they were going to need a new VA as a plot point in their story. So anybody who already knew that they were going to need to get a new voice actor would be able to brush off the drastically different voice for Igor. So it’s revealed he’s an imposter and then the real one shows up you notice his voice may be obviously different but it’s a very passable of the original Igor VA. That is some top-notch storytelling

FUN FACT: Igor does sound exactly like that in the other persona games, its the same guy. the one you've been hearing through the entirety of this game is the god of control, and its super fascinating why. The reason why the whole situation with Igor is the way it is in this game is because during the development of the original P5, the japanese VA for Igor sadly passed away, and therefore they could only use recycled voice lines from old games, and any that were already recorded. For this reason, they decided to only use them in the final arc of the game (Yaldabaoth was the final boss in the original P5) as to not get repetitive. In order to fix this issue, they hired another VA to voice Igor for the rest of the game and chose to mold the story around him being a fake. pretty interesting if you ask me, and pretty well done all things considered. even with all those difficulties they made a certified banger of a story! Also side note, if you haven't played the final arc of the game already, it will blow your mind. My personal favourite part of the game by far and i know that that opinion is a common one.

The Igor twist is especially effective when you consider what happened in the real world. He's in every Persona game in the Velvet room, but the voice actor passed away between Persona 4 and 5. So when P5 came out, even people who knew the voice was off thought it was just because it was a new voice actor, so they were redoing the voice.

No spoilers. I played the OG P5 twice when it came out. Then Royal comes along and I just could not get myself to sit down and play it. It was basically identical as P5 (at the beginning) so I just never played it. Then comes along your videos. I immediately wanted to play it again. Jumped right in and for a while it was right along side your KZread release windows! I'd beat a section, then you would upload that very section and I'd get to watch your reaction to everything I just played. It was a lot of fun playing the game together essentially. I ended up beating Royal over Memorial Day weekend so I was so eager for this video, and now watching your playthrough and knowing what is coming and seeing the foreshadowing that you'd completely miss on a first playthrough, so much fun. All that to say, thank you for pushing me to play it. The ending is incredible. Enjoy the ride!

I love this twist because of how it’s messed up from an IRL stance. See the Japanese voice actor for Igor died after Persona 4, so long time fans going into P5 knew that he had to have a new voice. Because of that, many people never once questioned this Igor or his deep voice… Never before have I seen a game use a real life death to set up their plot twist

It isn’t really messed up but just sad like they had to use Igor in some way and they didn’t wanted another Person to speak Igor for the entirety of game like nothing happened so they made the decision to just let Igor be voiced by a different person for just a few lines. (They even officially Retired Igor the Character after PS5)

I love how this game’s plot twist reveals this is an elaborate game between a god of control and a god of freedom’s vessel and they both choose their pawns (Akechi and Joker)

being in both the Twitch and Discord chats during this stream was absolutely INSANE. Haru being such an MVP and using crit One-Shot Kill on a mini-boss (with the same VA as JFK from COD Zombies) led chat to call her Lee Haru Oswald, some users in the Discord (myself included) started roleplaying as the various limbs of Yaldabaoth, it was hilarious.

PEAK PERSONA 5 PLAYTHROUGH RIGHT HERE YALL

Some real lore on the velvet room (explains it’s origin which the game doesn’t do ever) Igor is a being created from a doll by a being named Philemon (Philemon is one of 2 main gods of the collective unconscious). The Velvet room (particularly in personas 3-5) forms in the image of each guest’s situation and journey (in 3 it’s an elevator ascending infinitely, in 4 a car navigating through fog, and in 5 it’s obviously a jail which represents the fact that Joker is a prisoner of fate). The velvet room attendants are created to aid the guest and they are all named after characters from Frankenstein. Note: editor you think you’re so slick don’t you 1:58:12, you sneak that music in.

Well, the original Japanese voice actor died in-between P4 and P5, so "cringe" certainly wouldn't have been the word I would have chosen. It is actually common practice to change the voice actor in all languages if a character can't be retired when their actor dies for many Japanese production studios, so it was perfectly logical to anyone in the know when the voice was different. ...Even if it was more wildly different than we were expecting.

I've not followed the streams to know if he has gotten into that part of the game yet, but that was likely the editor's doing before JC knew what was coming up next. As such, your comment could have been a spoiler if not for KZread copyright delaying the release of this video quite a bit. Might still be if he actually hasn't gotten to stream again yet? Not sure.

1:27:36 The "Second Son of God", Satanael. Satanael rebelled against God for freedom and bestowed free will and chaos upon humanity. He is an archangel mentioned in the second Book of Enoch that lead other angels that rebelled against God as well. Due to his name and role, he is sometimes considered an interpretation of Lucifer. With that, he is also one of the entities known as The Devil. So Satanael is another version of the "Satan" character Satan being the "evil" arbiter and Lucifer the once sympathetic and prideful conqueror, with Satanael being the fully benevolent version. He is the interpretation of the Devil that rebelled against a tyrannical dictator.

That final push against Yaldaboath before he did his ultimate attack was incredibly hype to see Live. You had to be there everyone was on the edge of their seats and he didn’t even know if he won or not. It made me appreciate this fight so much more because I was super overpowered at this point lol.

Plays Collective Consciousness from Metal Gear Rising

The way they handled Igor for storytelling was just masterful. Long story short, Igor's japanese VA died and people were worried that Igor won't come back in Persona 5. So when we met Igor in the game, those people who know would only think that the drastic change in voice and mannerisms is just Atlus wanting to show Igor's character in a different way. They didn't suspect Igor was different or an impostor at all. Of course the Protagonist and newer players of the series who started in this game would not suspect Igor as they have no frame of reference as having only met him. Atlus played us all and I love them for it.

the reason kasumi has been missing from everything thus far is because she wasn't in the original p5.

THE HOLY GRAIL TREASURE ROOM IS A PANOPTICON hhhh which is a theoretical setup/theory that suggests prisoners upholding the rules themselves because there's the chance they're being observed 24/7. It's designed like a large round room with prison cells along the walls with a watchtower in the center (like the grail) which you cannot see inside of but you can technically keep watch over all the cells from inside, kind of like a twosided mirror. The prisoners being unable to see whether they're actually being watched or not leads them to police their own behaviour. It can be seen as model for how societal constructs work - why we perform certain standards even when noone is around - and social media has made this even more relevant!! Persona really said, read Michel Foucault, y'all.

P5 definitely references a lotta theoretical rabbit holes to get lost in; like "alright Gnosticism & Christian mythology wasn't enough, let's bring in that wildly verbose French guy's book on penal systemic discipline as our boss arena" lmao What's jaw-dropping for Royal _specifically_ was starting from "hey Foucault articulates *why* Panopticons are fucked up, but who's this Bentham guy proposing it?? sadistic prick probably😑" and ending up with. well :) Royal does a fantastic job of following up from here; especially knowing the guy responsible for the Panopticon's theoretical setup, and his foundational impact on utilitarianism as an entire branch of ethical philosophy ^_^

And the worst part is that I played Persona 4 before this game and heard the original Igor voice, so when I heard Igor at the start of P5, I was like 'huh, guess they got a new voice actor' and didn't think about it again until this part of the game. xD Also fun fact for those who don't know: Futaba's English VA is the same as Jessie from Final Fantasy VII Remake. :) Also also, do you plan on playing Persona 5 Strikers, JC?

There are some clinically insane people out there who would die on a hill stating Morgana is the worst character. Morgana is not only the best mascot in the Persona series easily, but one of the best in gaming history, just like the game is top 50 best games ever made.

You are so talented at putting the appeals of this game into words. I can think back to my first playthrough and the same feelings I had then when you bring them up all the time as you play. This is why the Persona series is as powerful as it is, this universal connection and seeing someone else experience the same moments you have for the first time. And every time you can go back and notice new things, because so much thought and attention to detail is put in to everything. So glad you chose to do this. Only one more arc left, so hold on because we're not done!

We're here at the end of the main game. I enjoyed this boss cause the name reminds me of Yaldabaoth from Xenoblade 1 even though the two are completely different. The name Yaldabaoth means a lesser deity who's the creator of the physical world.
