BYD and China's largest taxi aggregator DeDi have released the perfect car for taxi drivers and car-sharing services. The new Chinese electric car of 2021 BYD D1 is intended for commercial use, providing passengers with convenient boarding and disembarkation.
The format of the BYD D1 electric taxi car is similar to the five-door Volkswagen ID.3 - they have similar proportions and even certain design solutions. These include the "sagging" line under the windows, although for a car from China this is only an imitation created by means of dark paint.
At the same time, the Chinese electric car of 2021 is slightly larger than Volkswagen and has the following dimensions:
• length - 4390 mm;
• width - 1850 mm;
• height - 1650 mm;
• wheelbase - 2800 mm.
The main feature of the electric car is a sliding rear door with an electric drive on the right side, like in minivans. On the left side there is an ordinary swing door.
The manufacturer designed the salon in an effort to create as much space as possible. For example, passengers sitting in the back will definitely notice the flat floor and plenty of free legroom. In addition to the large 10-inch multimedia touchscreen, the cabin has a small display instead of the dashboard.
The 2021 Chinese Electric Vehicle prides itself on the finishes selected for durability. For the same purpose, the seats have increased rigidity when compared with other cars.
A rainbow-colored crescent lamp is placed under the front glass - this allows customers to notice a car approaching from a distance. On the multifunction steering wheel there is a special button "DiDi Kay". By clicking on it, the driver can accept the application by voice so as not to be distracted by the smartphone.
The manufacturer pragmatically approached the equipment of the machine. Heating, air conditioning, power windows are provided. Of the assistants for the driver, one can note cruise control, an automatic braking system, parking sensors, and a rear-view camera.
Safe driving is ensured by a face recognition system and a built-in recorder. If the driver grossly violates the traffic rules, he will lose the right to take orders. A hidden emergency call button protects the driver from aggressive passengers.
BYD D1 is equipped with a 136 hp electric permanent magnet synchronous motor. There is a 54 kWh lithium iron phosphate traction battery under the floor. According to the manufacturer's assurances, the electric car can travel 418 km without recharging. Maximum on BID D1 can accelerate to 130 km per hour.
Interestingly, the Chinese electric car of 2021 does not yet even have the rudiments of an autopilot: the developers considered it pointless to spend money on adaptive cruise control. But already in 2025, the partners promise the first D-series car with a full-fledged autopilot, and by 2030 the joint range will consist entirely of drones.
The first batch of BYD D1 electric vehicles in 2021 has already joined DiDi's fleet. These cars will be used not only for car sharing, but also in taxis. Gradually, D1s will start appearing in retail sales as well.
The price of BYD D1 is 20,000 euros.
