The People Pleasing Healing Journey

What does it look like in day to day life to work through people pleasing struggles? Melissa and I take some time to give examples of how people pleasing has impacted our journey and preventing us from experiencing greater mental and emotional health. We talk through some of the factors in our upbringing that contributed to this struggle and lay out a number of examples of how we have learned to process through healing and freedom. People pleasing does not have to own your life, but it is a journey if you want to experience healing.

Honestly, even if you two just talked nonsense the entire episode, I would still watch because your relationship is a potent and beautiful message in itself. ❤ Much love and prayer to you both.

@@markjamieson5962 Oh, I misunderstood your initial comment. 😂 I thought you were saying that Mark is going to be mowing our lawns in heaven, and I’m like, “We dump all our problems on him now, and he’ll still be serving us in heaven?! Doesn’t the poor guy get a rest?” 🤣 Then I saw your name is also Mark.

I relate to Melissa so much I just want to thank her for sharing these things because I feel like I am not alone and it encourages me so much! Because she is healing and so gracefully explaining these things and it shows me that I too can heal. And I too am a mother of a son with Autism. I just started having him look at himself in the mirror (he struggles with eye contact) and saying "I am a man of God and I am loved and God made me for a purpose" already he knows when I ask him... " Camden what are you?" He repeats it word for word!!! Thank you for all you do from the bottom of my heart ❤️

This is a great discussion . Thank you for your openness and honesty . I relate to you both in the people pleasing , self criticism and self hatred. I’m taking baby steps in receiving Gods love and learning to love myself . It is hard for me because when I look in the mirror it is difficult to accept the visible signs of ageing . 🥰

I realised a lot of my mental health problems, insecurities had a strong correlation with my diet. Since I changed my diet, adding saturated/animal fats, giving up carbs, I’m so much calmer. It’s so much easier to work through and process my thoughts. Back then, I was all over the place. No matter what I’d do, my mind had a mind of its own and everything in me seemed to want to turn on myself. Now, its so much easier to apply all these self help techniques in my life. It seemed so impossible before. I’m so grateful to God to bringing this knowledge to my life.

Your recent discussions on people pleasing is helping me so much. With this discussion, a part that hit me was when you changed the songs to please your parents. It made me think that when I do things like this to appease people, I felt like i was there. I’m appeasing myself and feeling the void but the Holy Spirit may have wanted me to sing a certain song that would have brought healing to the room insteadnof focusing on my need.

I got to relook on what love is. What is this love that's not actually a compulsion? Love isn't confused, but I'm adopted so I wonder what love is? I know I should be doing real love over lust. I'm really trying to figure out what love is. I'm dying of oxygen and love!

I appreciate both of your transparencies but she still over talks and affirms (yes, yes, mmmhhh, right) while your speaking and interrupting and helping you to tell your stories and experiences. I relate because I want to make sure that I "say the "right things" and to communicate in hopes that they understood and even believed me, so I gave too many details to seem credible.
