The Peak Forester with 92004, 37422 and 34100 - June 14th 2024

Following the success of the 'Peak Forester' with Schools Class No. 30917 'Ardingly' earlier in the year, a second run was planned, this time starting from Faversham. Class 92 No. 92004 'Jane Austen' would power the train from Faversham to Bletchley, with Class 37 No. 37422 'Robert F. Fairlie' acting as a brake translator for the vacuum braked stock. West Country No. 34100 'Appledore' would attach at Bletchley and take it to Rowsley South via the Midland Main Line.
Our first view at Cuxton, west of Rochester, sees RTL 4-CEP unit No. 1592 pass the railtour on the SouthEastern 1C06 07:10 London Victoria - Dover Priory service. We then almost get bowled by a Thameslink Sevenoaks service at Bromley South, and follow up at Beckenham Junction. The 92 was chosen for this tour due to its ability to switch from third rail to overhead wires, and we see the train under the wires at South Kenton on the West Coast Main Line, with a rare Class 321 heading the other way towards Euston. We then see 34100 on the Midland Main Line, first approaching Belper at speed, and then cruising along the Derwent Valley Line where it runs parallel to Derby Road, approaching Cromford Station.
